Finally! A toaster that toasts both sides evenly!
I approached this rather expensive toaster with some hesitation. I’d had a Hamilton Beach for a decade that gradually failed to toast one side adequately, and then one day quit altogether, unless I was willing to hold the handle down through the entire toasting process. I read hundreds of reviews of other toasters, and so many shared my big complaint: One side browns, the other doesn’t. Or, if you like your toast toasted, one side toasted and the other burnt. Ugh.I figured that if it took some more coin to find a toaster that consistently browned both sides as the setting indicated, it was cheaper over the long run that experimenting with a bunch of $20 disappointments. And in the comments I’d found online about this one, it toasts both sides about the same.Amazon had the best price, and Amazon always makes shopping easy. So, I plunked down the dough and went for it. And it’s been soooo satisfying!My toast is beautifully, evenly browned with no burnt edges, no squishy places, just terrifically reliable toasting. It works great for English muffins too. It gives great chewy with crunch there.The toaster itself is beautiful. Understated, it blends in and compliments the rest of the kitchen like a nice piece of jewelry with a LBD. It’s easy to clean, and the drawer type crumb tray doesn’t flop open and deposit your crumbs across the counter or floor like the hinged types. It doesn’t make that loud heart attack pop noise when the toast is up, so you need to glance at it occasionally while making the rest of your breakfast. It keeps your toast well until you’re ready to grab it. The extra long cord is a nice feature, too; sometimes, counter space is iffy; and some toasters offer cords so short it’s difficult to get them out from under upper cabinets. This one offers lots of range for movement.It’s solid and distinctively beautiful. And long after I’ve forgotten what I paid for something, I live with how well it works in my life. Do I love it? Does it work for me? Does it make my life a little easier, a little better?Yep. It’s just a toaster. But it does the job with real excellence.

Good chance you’ll get a dud.
I bake artesian sourdough and was excited to find a long toaster that would toast one slice all at one time (current toaster is a process of turning the slice over). I read the reviews and most described the toaster as toasting evenly; a wonderful product. But a few of the reviews mentioned that the toaster burns the ends and the middle not toasted at all. That was the toasting the toaster I received produced. Gave it the ol’ college try and even tried to toast a slice upside. Nope, same result. I was sad to have to return this beautiful, well intentioned toaster. I hope the manufacturer will improve their mfg. process to insure all of the toasters work as intended.

Close but disappointing
I truly don’t understand why they can’t make a toaster that just works – toasts evenly on both sides in both slots and edge to edge. I’d forego defrosting, bagel settings, warming – all I want is good toast. It’s been almost 54 years since we put a man on the moon, and science can’t figure this out??? Come ON!This toaster looks legit, and the brand and price made me think this would be The One, but it’s not.The dial goes from 1 to 7, and we just keep it at 6 1/2 for a regular light golden browning on bread/muffin. Not sure why you’d ever need anything lower unless it was a very sweet bread that would easily burn, as setting between 6-7 gives results I’d expect at 4-5.Seems like it’s on the bagel setting all the time, even though it’s not – I put English muffins in with the cut side facing inwards, and the bottoms of the muffins (on the outer coils) just get warm even though (mostly) the outer heating elements are on – to toast both sides you need to flip the halves. One whole column of heating elements on the outside of one slot just does not turn on at all.But there are pluses: has a nice crumb tray, and 40% of the item you’re toasting will be almost perfect.Other minuses: the price and the fact that it’s big for a 2-slice toaster, which I mistook as a sign there was a lot inside that would make better, maybe even perfect toast. I was wrong.But because the bar is set so low for toasters these days (3rd one in 2 years), this is probably as good as I’ll get so I’ll keep it, but it’s annoying to pay $100 for an inferior piece of toast.

Looks Great, Works Poorly
I really wanted to love this toaster. I own several other Zwilling kitchen products and absolutely love them, so I had high expectations. Unfortunately, this toaster has been a disappointment. I purchased it in May 2022, and while it grills decently (that’s about the only thing it does well), major issues arose within the first six months.The toaster stopped staying down in the toasting position, forcing me to rig up the contraption you see in the picture—something I have to use every single time. To make matters worse, the numbers on the dial faded almost immediately, and I’ve had to rewrite them multiple times.Honestly, I’ve had far better experiences with much more affordable toasters. I truly wanted to like this product, but its performance left me disappointed.

Most of the whole grain bread I purchase is oversized for most toasters. I am grateful that this toaster makes it easy with the long slots, which can accommodate a variety of bread sizes. It toasts well and has a great crumb drawer for cleaning.

I purchased this toaster mainly be cause of the brand and the price was the absolute best. The squae shape appealed to me indicating that reliability was the sole purpose over fancy designs. Having used it daily for the past four weeks my theory has borne this out. The controls works so very well and provide an exceptional degree of control that actually work in as much as a basic slice of toast that is equally toasted on both sides be it bread, waffles or Bagels. The finished item comes out with a certain degree of moisture remaining and no over toasting which means no Sandpaper effect, by that I mean abrasive action to the mouth. Now I can enjoy toast the way it should be. It is solid metal construction weighs about 7 Lbs. and no burns from the outer caser when handling, due to excellent insullation. The toasting elements are first class with their even distribution of heat. The interior is designed not to trap Bread, Bagels, etc. and lots of space leaving crumbs to drop into the spring loaded, tray,base. No shaking this toaster. Great Buy!
