Wüsthof Classic bread knife is A++++
I have been building a complete Wüsthof kitchen knife set bit by bit over the years (since they average $100 – $300 a piece) so I bought the black 17 knife block and finally the 8″ bread knife. This knife is BEAUTIFUL! If you’re buying Wüsthof knives you want to have forever, but the “Classic” knives… the tang bevels out onto the handle a bit instead of running straight through the handle and that makes for a much more solid, steady, unbendable blade. It’s worth the extra $$. Anyhow, my old bread knife was not a Wüsthof (it was that other brand starting with Hen….) and it wouldn’t cut ciabatta without a lot of force, but this thing is aces!!! Cuts like butter… I love Wüsthof knives and I recommend them to anyone who wants to upgrade to a lifelong kitchen knife set.

Extremely sharp!
This is a very well-made knife and I look forward to many years of use with it. I bought it mainly to cut a hard crusted rustic bread that I like to bake that all my old bread knives had trouble cutting. No problem with this knife! Cuts like butter. But like previous reviews, be sure to use caution- it is VERY sharp!

Such an indulgence to spend so much on a bread knife. Such joy in the using of it though !!! I adore crunchy crusts, and seeded and solid loaves. Now I have splashed out to have a knife that does justice to the delights of our new artisan bakery. I can get a smooth slice through the sour dough armour, down neatly through the seeds, on to reveal the wonderful texture of all the holes in the soft inner sanctum, before a finishing single sweep through the base. It is very sharp, long enough for smooth long strokes, and the serrations help to engage the loaf in this delicious unveiling of its beauty.
