This sharpener is absolutely awesome. We had one at our kitchen at work and even some of our “professional” knife sharpeners (hunters) have started using it to sharpen their hunting knives. Excellent sharpener, but accessories are expensive
This sharpener looks complicated, but itâs easy to use. It comes with a two sided hone, one side is a coarse grit, the other a sharpening steel. The coarse side quickly put a good edge on my kitchen knives. You will need to purchase ceramic hones to sharpen serrated knives. I bought two additional hone sets to put a finer edge on my knives and to sharpen serrated knives. The additional hones cost more than the sharpener!

A fantastic knife sharpener
I use several different types of knives in my kitchen and need them to be super-sharp. I use several small paring knives, several sizes of Chef’s knives, a Nakiri, Carving knife, Butcher knife, Boning/Filet knife, Vegetable knife, etc. I used to use a pull-through and honing rod, but they weren’t getting my knives sharp enough. I reviewed several different types of sharpening tools – the sharpening system was too complicated and required assembly to sharpen a single knife – too much work. The pull throughs didn’t get my knifes sharp enough and didn’t provide for different grit stones. The Warthog Vj-Sharp A4 was exactly what I needed; simple to use, a variety of stone grits and it gets my knives unbelievably sharp. Watch a few videos and use an older knife for your first try. The 325 grit is good to fix up an older knife blade that has been abused, but a bit coarse for my knives because I do keep them so sharp. I purchased the 600 and 1000 grit stones, using the 600 grit most of the time, finishing up with 1000 and a leather strop. It takes me about an hour to sharpen 25 or so knives and they are so sharp (razor sharp) I have to be careful because they slice deep into my cutting boards. Most of my knives were between 15 and 17 degrees, so I use the 15 degree setting for all of my knives. For me, this was the perfect solution – so easy to use, I can sharpen up a single knife in about 5 minutes and put the sharpener back in the box and in the pantry. Definitely Recommend

I purchased this for my husband as a fatherâs day gift and it is wonderful! He loves to cook meats and when cutting them and prepping he prefers a sharp knife, this is easy to use and works for any knife!

Easy to use
Received this as a gift. Works well on most knives. Very easy to use. Does take a while to get a dull knife sharp. Not quite as effective as having them sharpened by a professional, but will keep an edge on already sharp knives.

My husband’s most prized possession
I bought this as a Christmas gift for my husband in 2023. He went absolutely bonkers for it. This review is coming almost a year since he started using it, and I can say with confidence that it deserves a 5-star review. My husband keeps a pocket knife on him at all times (if he’s wearing pants) that he uses for everything. He uses this knife sharpener to sharpen it back up regularly, and each time he calls from the other room, “This is the best present anyone has ever given me!” He also sharpens our various kitchen knives, his friends’ pocket knives, scissors, anything with a sharp edge. 12 months on and he’s still impressed with this sharpener, so I’d say it’s a pretty good buy!

So let me start by saying I am horrible at sharpening knives. Don’t matter what type they are I never ever managed to get a sharp knife. Stones, Steels, Lansky none worked for me. So I figured this would be my last knife sharpener. Well my first use, I grabbed our dullest kitchen knife and tried. I was like ya this did not work either I am sending it back! I was upset but me being me I tried again. I felt a slight edge starting. So I ran and grabbed my pocket knife which still had a slight edge left. I ran it through 15 times both side and adding 5° like they say in the instructions. Well I was really surprised and my opinion on this system started to change. I went back to the kitchen knife and have ran it through the 15 time cycle around 6 times. WOW is all I can say. It is way sharper, it has an edge again. Not perfect yet but well on the way. So I am very happy I CAN SHARPEN A KNIFE!! Also I read and followed instructions. Lastly I recommend on knifes you care about add a strip of masking tape (painter tape) to save the finish. I did get small scratches on one and now I will not put a knife near it without the tape. Enjoy if you buy one. It really does work. This is coming from the most incompetent knife sharpening guy ever.
