I have been looking for a real wok for quite some years, even Asian markets only have a limited amount of selection and couldn’t find a good one, I have tried another one off Amazon and was not impressed, eventually I even ponied up and bought a hexclad wok, it’s pretty good, but still missing that sizzle factor and the wok hei factor. When I heard the sizzle I was ecstatic! I seen the size of this wok and the handle which is actually perfect for Chinese cooking. I seasoned it according to their instructions and tried frying an egg to begin with, wow I completely forgot how hot and fast a wok can fry an egg. If you have never used an authentic wok before it’s an adjustment from what you are used to, I would recommend adding a bit more oil and lower the heat a bit if you are not familiar with using a wok. I braised spare ribs with potatoes and carrots and even though my hexclad could do the same, I just thoroughly enjoyed using this wok, especially since it has a long handle and when scooping the food out I can also easily lift it up and pour the remainder of the cooked food into a plate. Next I stir fried some vegetables and I got the sizzle I was looking for! I also made gravy after I stir fried the veggies to pour it over the veggies, the wok literally did it in seconds! Cleaning is easy with a metal scrubber. It’s also deep enough for steaming, I’ll be trying to steam some spare ribs and fish with this Soon. This also comes beautifully packaged, the way it was packaged was like a new laptop. If you want to cook Asian food, and want that sizzle and wok hei, here it is!

Great for cooking all meal sizes. Heat transfer great. I have an electric stove this works perfectly especially because of the flat bottom. Cleaning wise I can use metal.scrubber without damaging the wok.

Wok damage after first usage
I was so excited to used this wok. First i seasoned it as directed but after 1 used i notice the damage on the wok surface. Itâs not no-stick. I tried to clean it up and re-seasoned it again hoping it will works but then after the 2nd usage the wok is really damage. This is not really what they advertised. I really have to return it because this is an expensive one.

Growing up I probably spent more time in my familyâs Chinese restaurants than I did at home. Since then Iâve gone through several home woks but none of them had the quality of the commercial woks nor did they stand up to everyday use for very long.When I received the Wang Yuan Ji the first thing that I noticed was how well it was packaged. The package included the wok, a glass lid, a wooden handle, a scrubbing brush, a towel and instructions printed in Chinese and English. The wok and lid were both packed in their own individual bags. I was pleasantly surprised by the weight and wall thickness of the wok. It was similar to the commercial woks Iâve used in the past. The material and workmanship is very good. The wooden handle was easy to install and fit well for a solid feel. The wok features a spout on the right side which makes pouring easier and less messy. The glass lid features wooden knob a vent hole.After proper seasoning of the wok it was time to use it. The wok heated evenly and did not stick (even when cooking eggs). The wok will require re-seasoning and a little coating of oil from time to time to maintain the non-stick coating but so did the commercial woks. If you properly season it and follow the instructions this wok should give you years of use.I am very happy with this product and will be using it almost everyday.

Make no mistake–a 14.2″ wok is a BIG wok, and that being so, I find this one quite heavy when plating a finished stir-fry and wok-full of food. That said, who wants a flimsy one? This is a WONDERFUL product, made with care, and packaged to reflect exactly that aspect. Once seasoned (which really is no chore), food just slides off it onto a plate or platter. Then bringing it immediately over to the sink, a light scrubbing with a brush while running water over the surface removes any residue quickly and efficiently. Because it is so large (and there are only 2 of us in this house), what I love is that nothing splashes onto the stovetop, and it can handle deep frying as well–plus being carbon steel, it heats to smoking hot very quickly while cooling down equally well when finished. Due to its ample size, I just put it in the cold oven after cooking/cleaning for storage. It helps to apply a thin layer of cooking oil to the surface after washing and drying it. I LOVE THIS PRODUCT.

The bottom surface is wide enough to work with induction stove tops, gets hot fast. The metal is thick enough to dissipate heat to the sides. With a proper seasoning this wok cleans up well. I think it would be perfect for gas stove. You will get some food sticking with induction but i’m happy with my purchase.

I wanted to have the “full, classic” wok experience, and I more than got it with this. For the premium price, I got a premium experience- the feel of the wok is great, with the engraved wooden handles (the main one of which can be very easily removed and is designed in a way to also lock place VERY securely- the round loop at the end, that’s a long screw going into the mount on the wok’s base) a month in and I’ve deep fried, stir fried, stewed in it with great results.The whole process is something I wanted to learn and get comfortable with, and I have with time- after each use I clean it with soap, dry it on medium-low heat on the stove for 5~ minutes, add oil and wipe the cooking surface down and leave it for another 5~ minutes, and it works like a charm.I also really liked the pamphlet which came with it, detailing the history of the manufacturer as well as the various materials and processes through which this was made, and maintenance/seasoning instructions. I went into all of this expecting I’d have to be all extra with the maintenance (and intending to do so), but with trial and error I’ve found the instructions on the back- which I more or less paraphrased above- gave the best results for me.
