This is an awesome sharp knife!!!
I really like this knife a LOT! I have some very good knives that I like already. My son told me about this brand because of the quality and holds its blade sharpness. He can afford any type of knife he wants. When he visits durning the holidays, he comes with his knife sharpening tools to re sharpen my blade. So, I decided to give it a try. Wow! This is the best knife I have and I love using it. It is well balanced and the handle is so comfortable holding and griping. I’ve already told him I’m so glad he told me about this knife. I got it when it was a Black Friday Deal which included the heavy duty plastic blade guard…awesome guard too. You can buy it on AMAZON for 8.01 (8-10 inch knife blade Victorinox RH Forschner ) it locks the blade into the cover. Very safe. I am so happy with this knife. I’d buy it again! I find myself looking for things to cut.

DO NOT ORDER COMBO PACK!
This knife is one America’s Test Kitchen recommended and it is a very good knife but, as I see other reviewers have experienced, this COMBO PACK, is a bad deal. The knife arrived but without the knife safe. I contacted Amazon and they said I could return the item for a refund or contact the manufacturer for the missing knife safe. I decided on contacting the manufacturer since I just wanted the knife safe that I paid for. After submitting my receipt Victorinox told me the combo pack was offered by an unauthorized seller and I should contact them. I did and the seller said Amazon is the customer supplier and are responsible. Since I see the COMBO PACK is available through multiple sellers using Amazon I have to assume the issue is with Amazon. I would return the item but according to other reviewers that produced the same result when re-ordering – a knife but no knife safe. I am not pleased with Amazon, as there seems to be no solution available and I am not that happy with Victorinox either, their customer service was prompt but I don’t know if they are unaware or unconcerned that such a large supplier as Amazon, representing multiple sellers offering this deal, is leaving brand customers unhappy. This seems like an easily solved problem.

Best knife ever.
This knife is great for chopping anything. I have purchased several, and they have all lasted for years. Easy to sharpen and washes well in dishwasher. Which I know is not how you are supposed to wash good knives but it holds up even to repeated washing in the dishwasher.

As a Chef my mother wanted a knife for her cooking but didn’t know what to buy, so she asked me. My very first knife that I bought over 30 yrs ago was the 10″ Forschner with the wood handle so O knew the “upgraded” version would be the way to go since the steel is good, it is easy to sharpen (some I’ll be the one sharpening it) and fairly inexpensive chefs knife. I also got the one with a locking knife guard. Shipping was fairly fast at 5-7 days to Hawaii. The reason for the four stars is that the blade was not sharp as knives usually come at their sharpest and can be conventionally used for a month or so before needing to sharpen it. Also this Zytel or plastic handle is not set the way that the word handle is, like straight with the blade. It is set at an angle that makes it harder to control. To understand what I’m talking about just hop look at the Shun Premier or the Global line of knives. You can also go look at the original Victornix chef knife with the wooden handle! So for a professional in the culinary world, I wouldn’t recommend this specific knife though would recommend the R.H. Forsvhner/Victorinox, but our outs a decent knife for home use.
