    We grow ugly apples…..
We have a golden delicious apple tree out back. I’m not “allowed” to use any type of spray, etc, according to someone who lives with me (of the female variety). As a result, our apples are ugly and badly misshapen. I wait until they fall to the ground and first thing in the morning I pick up any that are large enough to use and have not been gnawed on by the occasional deer passing through the yard. As a result of their “shape”, coring and cutting out the bad parts is extremely challenging. After trying several box store paring knives, I gave up, looked on Amazon and found this bird’s beak SHARP paring knife. In a word, it is WONDERFUL! Just what I needed to get the job done. It is SHARP (one sister and my wife cut their fingers trying it out), easy to maneuver, easy to hold in arthritic hands, it does the job, and it is SHARP! The bird’s beak tip is particularly handy in cutting out small defects. I initially ordered two, but gave one to my “wounded” sister because she fell in love with it. To be sure I had enough (in case the remaining one “evaporated” when we have visitors), I ordered a backup. This is my go-to paring knife. Love it. Oh, did I mention that it is SHARP?

    Sharp peefect knife
Love the victorinix knives. This is our fourth one. Giving one of my sons the chefs knife for Christmas so its really five. He was amazed at tge way it cut when he used ours. Beware extremely sharp but who wants a dull knife.

    It cuts like a knife…
…and it feels so right. Look…you want a paring knife for fruit and hoowhatnot? You likey the bird’s beak feature? You want to avoid paying tens of dollars for a name brand made from exotic steel forged by the fires of Mordor under the eye of Sauron? You want me to get to the review? First, allow me to apologize for the Bryan Adams reference. While that song is a quality number culled from the album of the same name that greased the skid for Reckless, a powerhouse album full of classic 80’s hooks and riffs, I am cognizant of the fact that he is also responsible for Waking Up the Neighbours (the start of his downward spiral) and a string of sappy, movie-soundtrack sell-out “I want to get a lot of money without really trying” songs that flooded brick-and-mortar stores and middle school dances everywhere. In retrospect, while Cuts Like A Knife was a quality album, the song Straight From The Heart was an eerie indicator of what was to come in his career: over-sung sappiness delivered by pushing his raspy voice. The album cover was also Nostradamus-like in hindsight: Adams in a bent-over pose as if he is subjecting the rest of us to something unpleasant smelling (future albums). Anyhoo…the knife is good. Accept the fact that the blade is 2.5 inches long and the handle is plastic and you’ll be fine. Don’t complain the knife is too short…they tell you its length! It’s not like they send you a random size. Also, consider the price. You are getting a quality knife for peeling fruit at a low price. We use it mainly on apples and pears and it’s fine. It stays sharp and we hand-wash it. There is no way you are too busy to hand-wash a knife this small. The bird’s beak feature is nice. It allows for more control while peeling and gives you a chance to sound like a DB by identifying it as a “bird’s beak” around friends who comment on the “curved” knife. In summation, Bryan Adams had a great two-album run and this knife is a great buy.

    Good knife for leather work.
I’m not using this for food. One of my hobbies is leatherworking and I am using this to cut leather from patterns. I had been using exacto hook blades for this but they are far to flimsy. This is perfect. It fits my hand perfectly and is sturdy enough to cut thick veggie tanned leather yet thin enough to cut with out effort. It holds an edge wonderfully and is nimble. The way it sits in my hand makes it easy to cut curves and follow lines on one pass. I am very happy with this knife. It is well made and should last a long time. It comes out of the package very sharp, first thing I did was refine the edge with ceramic sharpening rods and a strop. Now it cuts like a lightsaber.

Good build, very sharp, long handle
It is a very decent knife. Sharp and handy. We have had an old paring knife of unknown origin for 3 decades. Got this one as the old blade was wearing down, wife says the new handle is too long but likes the sharpness of the new one. Guess we need to get accustomed to progress.

Low cost, great knife. Sharp. Unique design
Never had bird beak knife before but was easy to become accustomed to. Great for peeling garlic or other tiny detail work such as coring fruit etc.Price is great and it is very sharp. You need to remember that these Victorinox knives have thinner blades so shouldn’t stress on things like sweet potatoes or regular potatoes. I have a lot of Victorinox knives for many uses. I also have German and Japanese high end knives. Each have their purpose. At this price there is no excuse not to have these knives from Victorinox.

This little knife is so nice to use. It has a short blade but it is just right for so many paring tasks. It fits in your hand perfectly and has a good balance. We eat a lot of green beans which are usually frenched. I cut them by hand so the curved blade works well for that purpose. The sharp tip is great for digging the eyes out of potatoes or removing the stems of tomatoes. These knives are made with good quality stainless steel in Switzerland. This is my second one of these and I love it. I still have my first one but because I use it so much at least one is always in the dishwasher when I need it.

This is the small paring knife I’ve been searching for. Terrific for all small tasks such as paring and peeling fruit and vegetables. Razor sharp.
