Wife loves the handle, weight and balance
I bought this for my wife. She has increasing joint pain and had mentioned that a couple of her knives were hurting her hands when she had to use them for more than a few minutes. We are not knife snobs (most of our knives are Victorinox, Global, etc.) but we *do* care about them. I was leery about buying a cheap Chinese knife, but I took a chance on this knife, mainly because of the handle shape and the decent reviews. She has been very pleased. We’ve only had it for a few weeks so I can’t say about long-term durability or edge-holding, but they came out of the box sharp enough (again, not snob sharp, but as sharp as our Chef’s Choice sharpened knives), and they’ve held up for a few weeks now. The thicker, rounder handle feels better in her hand, and she appreciates the balance, with the center of gravity a bit more toward the handle. The handle is attractive enough, but know that it’s not really what a normal person would call “wood” (that is, cut from a tree and put on a knife). I’m not *exactly* certain what “pakkawood” is, but if you told me it’s really a composite material (you know, sawdust and plastic binder), I’d believe it in a second. The color and “grain” are printed on, which is not what I expected, but it *should* have been what I expected when you consider the (very low) price. Frankly, we’re both fine with it: you can’t expect more for this price, and it’s probably a lot less fussy this way anyway.Besides, fit, balance, sharpness and durability mean a lot more than handle material. For what we’ve been able to experience in a few weeks, this knife is certainly good enough, even before you consider the very reasonable price.

Excellent addition to my knife set
This is my second knife of this brand and I couldn’t be happier. Well made, thick blade and comfortable grip makes it perfect to cut my wife sourdough bread. We had an old bread knife and it simply didn’t work when sourdough with thick, crispy skin showed up on our kitchen counter. It was tearing the bread apart instead of slicing it.We needed to buy a new knife and this one was a perfect pick. Happy with this purchase.

Cuts like butter, handle feels good in the hand
Honestly, I just needed a big knife to cut brisket, but I am pleasantly surprised with this find. Seems really good quality, blade is long enough, the handle is beautiful, and it fits well in the hand. But probably most importantly, it cuts extremely easily. Almost no effort is required to hold down what you’re cutting, the blade just glides right through. I would definitely pick this up if you’re in the market for a larger blade for cutting bread, or meats

    Just get it!
without getting too nitty-gritty into precise finished edge angles, tang and weight heft, this is a very sharp, well-crafted and honed paring knife without breaking the bank. yeah, it’s made in China with German steel, however i overlooked all of the nomenclature for a higher-quality, fairly-priced knife based on reviews and that’s exactly what i received. it is indeed razor sharp, and i’ve had it for about 2 mos, i don’t use it every day but i’m still extra careful with it, it’s a surgeon’s tool. the handle is beautifully finished wood and has a very nice weight to it. i like to vary my limited cooking knife collection, so this one joins a Shun, a Global [both of which i use sparingly] and my workhorse – a 6.5″ OXO GoodGrips Sankotu which i use all the time for everything, probably less than $20, which i run through an electric sharpener every 6 months and it just keeps going. i’m buying an $8 steel sharpener next to keep all these beauties honed, and my mixed family of knives gets along very well; this TUO being a beautiful, economical addition. I can’t give it 5 stars because I didn’t run the gamut of top paring knives to compare it with, but both aesthetically and in the hand – it’s much livelier than the mass-produced, industrial, boring, three-rivet black-handle German standards. {Henckels, Zwilling}. Not to discredit them – they are the kitchen chef’s standard for a reason, holding a fine blade for long, but I also always say: “Fantasy is important.” I really like this knife.

    Very durable and sharp!
It may be a little wider that its predecessor from the same brand, but it works exceedingly well as a peeler and parer. The handle is comfortable in the hand and it gives off a quality vibe. Really good!

    Pretty!
Have both the santoku and the nakiri. Fantastic fit and finish for $30 knives. Attractive, well balanced, and razor sharp right out of the box, which is itself giftably pretty. Tapered bolster makes for a comfortable pinch grip and the smooth wooden handle fills the palm nicely. I’ll be using these for life.

Update May 11, 2023: I have upgraded my rating to 5 stars. I have now been working with this knife and it has become my go to favourite knite. It retains its edge very well and a few strokes against the honing steel refreshes the blade. I am impressed with the quality. I use it for all things like meat, poultry, vegetables (I can slice tomatoes as thin as paper), shred cabbage – only thing i will not do with this knife is cut bone. I love it too much to torture it.Item arrived the next day by mid-morning. Very prompt delivery.Attractive looking and feels well balanced. Box provided by Tuo is attractive and well appointed. The damascus steel patterns resulting from folding the steel are very light and not pronounced. This is likely due to the higher chrome content over carbon.Second major point for me is that the knife is not razor sharp. The published spec says each side is at 18 degrees for a combined edge of 36 degrees. I would consider anything more that 30 degrees to be on the blunt side. This knife will still easily slice through vegetables in its current state but it is below ideal. Luckily this is easily addressed and rectified by using a high grain japanese wet stone. The test will come to see how well the steel will retain its edge. I will update after periodic use of the knife.I was hoping this knife would become my favourite go to but now I dont feel that will come to pass – not attractive enough and I suspect that with reduced carbon and increased chrome the steel does not have the hardness of traditional japanese knives. Remember, though, that high carbon knives will be prone to rust. You get what you pay for (in most cases). High end damascuss steel knives will run you north of $300. This was slightly less than 30% of that.

Optisch geht es nicht mehr besser – das Messer mit dem Holzgriff ist wunderschön. Wir haben es noch nicht lange, aber bislang ist es sehr scharf
