Easy to use even for an knife sharpening novice!
As someone who spends a significant amount of time in the kitchen, I was intrigued by the concept of the Tumbler Rolling Knife Sharpener. This sharpening system promises an easy and efficient way to maintain the sharpness of kitchen knives, which is crucial for any cooking enthusiast or professional chef.
Ease of Use:
The Tumbler sharpener truly shines in its simplicity and user-friendliness. The setup process is straightforward, and the magnetic knife holder is a game-changer, ensuring that the blade is securely in place during sharpening. The rolling mechanism is smooth, making the sharpening process not only effective but also somewhat enjoyable. Even those new to knife sharpening can achieve sharp edges without much hassle.
Sharpening Quality:
The use of diamond-coated discs is a standout feature. The D35 grit size is ideal for removing the dull first layer of the knifeâs edge, bringing back that much-needed sharpness. After using this sharpener, my knives easily sliced through tomatoes, meats, and even tougher vegetables like butternut squash, indicating a high-quality sharpening process.
Edge Finishing:
The addition of a stainless steel helix disc for burr removal is thoughtful and enhances the overall sharpness of the knives. This step ensures a finer edge, noticeable in the precision cutting it allows. This feature is particularly beneficial for those requiring high precision in their culinary tasks.
Angle Options:
Offering both 15 and 20-degree angle sharpening caters to a wide range of knives, from traditional to specialty blades. The strong magnets ensure consistent angles, which is essential for even sharpening across the entire blade. This feature contributes to the longevity of the knives, as uneven sharpening can lead to quicker dulling and potential damage.
Design and Build:
The Tumblerâs design is compact and robust. It doesnât take up much space, making it suitable for small kitchens or limited storage areas. The build quality feels durable, suggesting that it will last a long time even with regular use.
Overall Impression:
The Tumbler Rolling Knife Sharpener is an excellent tool for both amateur cooks and professional chefs. Its ease of use, combined with the high-quality sharpening result, makes it a valuable addition to any kitchen. While it might be an investment compared to simpler sharpeners, the longevity it offers to your knives and the quality of sharpening make it a worthwhile purchase.

Nice!
Very cool sharpener. Works great for first use. Iâm curious how long it will work well. The cutting side of the roller is pretty smooth after sharpening 7 kitchen knives. Time will tell, but Iâm happy with it so far!

Good for regular folks who donât want to bother with expensive and time consuming sharpening
Itâs very easy to use and gets your knives sharp very fast. After the initial 10 or so minutes of sharpening when you first hone the blade, all it takes is 1 or 2 minutes each side thereafter to sharpen it again to retain your knivesâ edge. Use it before chopping lots of food and youâll have a good time cutting.
However, Iâve had the Tumblr for a year now and the only complaint I have is the mechanism has gotten loud. It makes a very loud rubbery grinding noise and itâs distracting. Furthermore, the rolling wheels themselves seem to have gotten more friction. Not sure why this is but I cannot fix it. Itâs also not possible to open the Tumblr and perform your own maintenance. Disappointed with the maintenance experience, but happy with the ease of use.
My Tumblr still works and sharpens my knives well, but using it after a year now has more friction!

Great Sharpening
Works well. Simple to use and restored some very dull kitchen knives to razor sharp. Works well with larger blades, but a bit complicated for smaller knives.

Knife sharpener
Great to use but not all blade will work.

Not impressed
Seems to work ok for some kitchen knifes but is not very versatile for a wide range of knifes. I would expect to be able to sharpen all knifes for the price of this thing. Overall quality seems good. Just not worth it for the price in my opinion.

First use experience
Iâve used it on 3 knives since I got in an hour ago. Seems do great at sharpening. Doesnât work well with small knives and Iâm already noticing the magnent imprints showing on the block. Hopeful it doesnât wear down so quick that the block stops holding the knives

I bought this knife sharpener as all my household knives were very dull and almost unusable. I sharpened each one only once for about 2 mins per knife and the difference is like night and day. Super sharp and I forgot how good it is to use sharp knives. Highly recommended.

Been through a lot of cheap sharpeners and decided to spend some money this time. No regrets. This sharpener is great! Very easy to use too.

I have bought a few different knife sharpeners and used them all, each one of a different type. There’s really many ways to go for sharpening your knife. Each providing a step up in sharpness, but also a step up in complexity to use (both in skill and time it takes to sharpen).
-Honing rod (not exactly a sharpener but does make it “sharper” in a way)
-Sharpeners with a v ceramic in which you pull
-Rolling sharpeners
-Belt sharpeners
-Rod based sharpeners
-Whetstones
I think the nice middle ground for most people is either rolling sharpeners or belt sharpeners. I bought this really because sharpening with this is really simple, it takes barely any longer than the ceramic sharpeners and does a considerably better job.
I think though, there are some big limitations…
-For one, the magnet (that holds the knife) works great for wide knifes, such as chefs knifes… but is too tall to work for smaller knifes, such as utility knifes.
>>Having a second smaller magnet as well would solve this.
-There is only 1 single grit and a honing side. This works well for general maintenance, but if you have a heavily damaged knife it will take longer to sharpen and because there’s no fine grit, you won’t get that razor edge.
>>Having a course and fine grit and a strop would be better… Or offering sharpeners with varying grits.
These are the limitations of most rolling sharpeners out there… the next step up of using a belt sander, though can be found in compact sizes, it a little less “friendly” to use and wouldn’t recommend it to everyone. Specially if you have a knife with a nice finish and worry about scuffing it.

Was really excited about buying this sharpener. Worked great for the first 5 times I used it. I have kept it in the original box to keep it organized and took it out today and the tumbler is seized. Wonât turn without a huge amount of force. Sadly I would not recommend
