Better than others! These have always been the favorite in our hispanic family for hot pots & pans!Sometimes people have hidden secrets due to their culture or ethnicity. In this case as a member of a Hispanic Puerto Rican as long as I can remember we have used these woven placemats when placing a hot pot or pan on the dinner table or anywhere that was needed.I have purchased placemats that are silicone which can hold upwards of 400 degrees etc, I have seen others on Amazon and frankly these are by far the the placemats for any job. They must not know woven ones are the best, they look simply but they just work period. They are also usually lower in price than any fancy “modern” ones with fancy claims. Sometimes older is better!!! This is one of those times.My only regret is that they are all the same size. I would have preferred smaller ones as well. Even a small one can hold a huge pot of anything.Despite that I still give these 5 stars because they are so useful. I was able to order 3 sets of woven placemats and I will be perfectly honest… I have no idea why we needed so many lol. I am sure I will find a use for them all though. As time goes by for whatever reason they have just disappeared from our home, we don’t know how but we lost all of ours… so when these showed up I immediately grabbed them! If you want to get rid of those rectangular mats often used for a table you can with these. They are thin enough yet large enough as well to replace them and be used for normal plates and eating on them. They make your table look different and stylish.

Perfect for fall decor
These play into my fall table decor perfectly. Good material. Perfect size without being oversized however they shed. A lot. I have to keep wiping down the table constantly which is a big con for me.

Attractive placemats, but they shed on the table
This is a nice set of woven placemats. I chose “style 4” with the green borders, and they look quite attractive on our wood dining table. They are textured, but plates and flatware sit flat without any rocking back and forth. They are large enough to set the table with a small plate and silverware all on the mat, though larger plates and silverware are a bit crowded. My only complaint is that the placemats shed little pieces of fibers on the table. This seems to be getting better with time (I shook out each placemat to try to get the loose material out), but I still end up wiping down the table after each use to clean up the bits of rattan dust left behind.
