Bread Making Kit with Cast Iron Dutch Oven
This bread making kit is a great value. The cast iron Dutch Oven is a good quality. It is not as smooth as some cast iron, but it does come pre seasoned and will only improve after every use and seasoning. I really appreciate that the lid can also be used as a 10″ skillet.The bread making tools are a nice, basic set that will really improve my bread making and result in the nice, round loaves that I see in the bakery.

Nice for sourdough, but there are better options
It’s a decent set – I’ve used it to make sourdough and some other cooking. But for the money, it’s not as good as that ‘famous brand’ that has a similar set available.

So Nice!
The price is so high. I feel like the price on this should have been cheaper than $65. Other than that, it is a nice cast iron dutch oven. Cast iron is so much better to cook in and, since I am always low on iron, it is good to cook in them. I wish they were not so heavy though. This one is very heavy and sturdy. I have not been able to cook or bake anything in it yet. I will update when I do so that my review includes that important information. I like that this came with a a bread proofing basket and a bunch of bread making supplies. I am not sure I will use them myself though because I usually only make bread in a bread machine or I buy it. I plan to use the dutch oven for things like stews.

Excellent quality
Excellent quality Dutch oven. The cast iron is of a good quality. The pot itself is of a good size for my needs. The lid has a flat top which works great for storage as you can place it underneath the pot or place on top flat which helps save space. This Dutch oven is multi use/purpose besides breads. Overall, a great price for what you get.

I got it for more than bread! And it is great!
I know it is mostly advertised as a bread baking kit, and it come with the tools needed to make sourdough bread (except for the starter). But I got it for additional uses because of the fact that it is actually serves as several cooking tools at once.The lid flips over and can be used as a griddle and the “baking” pan can also be used as a roaster! This means there are at least three uses for this set. A roaster, a baker and a griddle!Plus I have used the baking pan on top the stove to cook soup.Excellent quality, cleans up well and stacks on top each other for easy storage.I am a believer that you can’t go wrong with cast iron so I am very happy with this set.I can highly recommend!

Wouldn’t get this one again
I’ve just started using dutch ovens the last 6 months and this is the third one I’ve tried. I’ve also gotten separate sets of sourdough baking stuff that included banneton, sling, lame, etc. This set is nice in that it contains a lot of stuff –but there are very few items I’d actually give high marks to relative to others I’ve tried. The metal scraper is nice but the plastic bowl scraper does not work well. When you’re dealing with pots heated to 450-500 degrees F, the pot holders are worthless. Banneton and its cover are fine.Other than price, my biggest complaint is on the main item – the oven itself. The cast iron feels rough compared to my other cast iron pans and I’ve already stained shelves with rust coming off the pot and stained my towels black when drying the pans.Bottom line, this one didn’t earn a spot in my rotation of pans and I wouldn’t give it as a gift or recommend it to others. There are much better choices out there for about the same money.

Nice set…But can’t be used on standard electric stove
This is a nice set. Good cast iron. My wife already used it to make beef stew…in the oven.This is not a particularly large pot…it’s a nice size for a couple of empty nesters who don’t want tons of leftovers, and she was able to reduce the amount of ingredients in her usual stew recipe and it came out just fine.This particular pot can’t be used on an electric stove with standard calrods. Only on induction electric stoves (and on gas stoves as well). We use other cast iron products on our electric stove — frying pan of course — and I don’t know why this pot can’t be used that way, but there you have it.My daughter in law is a big bread baker and we gave her all of the accessory items. She likes the proofing basket in particular.Note that the instructions on the product page reference “tumble dry on medium heat.” They of course mean that you dry the pot in a medium oven. Tumble drying this in your beloved clothes dryer would be a serious mistake. :-)All in all, a good product that performs well within its inherent limits.
