We purchased a couple of these, sharing them with a few relatives who are intense hikers. We also purchased for ourselves and our survival kit. We live on the oceanfront and put in our Tsunami bug out kit. It has the all important sharpener aspect, but also a fire starter. A whistle, etc. Husband reports that the sharpener works very well on his pocket knife collection. Win/win. We probably all need one of these! Small, compact and easy to carry or put into a kit. Having said all of this, I never hesitate to update my reviews should new info seem useful. All of my reviews reflect my honest, personal experience with the reviewed item – your experience may be different. I am not influenced by any outside source. I receive/accept NO free products or discounts that are not available to all shoppers- ever. For some reason our shopper ranks are no longer visible – so, to give you a little more info about me, I am a top 50 reviewer (#30 the highest rank achieved). perfect for pruning tools
I chose this sharpener for its versatility, compact size and reasonable price. I successfully used this product to sharpen two hand pruners and a larger loping shears with ease and great results. I took the first hand pruner apart, mostly to clean it well before sharpening, so it was easy to run the bIade through the sharpener. To my surprise, I was able to sharpen the second hand pruner easily without taking it apart; same with the big loppers. I had a much easier time pruning the azaleas and other shrubs in the yard this weekend. This product is compact, portable, easy to use, and does a fine job sharpening my tools. Next I will use them on my scissors to see how that works. Highly Recommended.

I use it a lot
Iâve sharpened all my blades with this. It is very compact and very easy to use. Itâs not heavy, and it is good at sharpening blades. Itâs pretty durable (surprisingly) and the grip isnât bad either. There are 2 sharpening options, the metal or the other option. The only thing I donât like is that the metal option kinda does a rough job with the blade. Itâs not a pretty finish. It does the job and makes it sharp, very sharp, but itâs not a pretty or smooth finish. Not smooth at all, in fact, after using this sharpener my blade kinda catches onto cloth. Again, it does its job very nicely. And itâs good for the price. If you really want whatâs best for your blades though, you might want to use stones or something else. This does not give a very smooth finish.

I have a few edc & some I don’t carry much . The sharpener does exactly what it it says. I even sharpened a couple serrated knives . Key is not much pressure needed. I sharpened every pocket knife I had almost. Some I got razor sharp , some I got sharper than they were. The fire starter I had high doubts on but it actually turned out to be one of the best ones if not the best iv ever used. I tried it on a rag I use for oiling things wiping excess oils off. It caught fire on second try. Second time I used torn up tp it ignited first try . Very useful survival. Whistle works great also. I’m a prime shopper panel person, I used my reward to purchase this buts it’s definitely worth the 10.00 original price. But free is better. Will definitely buy more

This is one of my favorite purchases on the internet! Although it seems to be, at first glance, a bit cheaply made, for the cost and for the use I have already gotten from this little beauty, it was worth every penny….. and when this one does finally wear out, I will get another one. It sharpens very well and with great speed. Just a few swipes across the stones, and she’s ready for tomatoes! All the extras work as well. The whistle, the fire starter, and the hook sharpener. I have many tools, and I find it very easy to loose one, by putting it down in a bad spot when you’re busy, or just forgetting where you store a tool that you don’t often use (such as a knife sharpener)., but THIS baby is BRIGHT colored, and always standing out to say to me….”Hey Mister….Are your knives sharp?” BUY, BUY, BUY!

found some problems with this product.first of all itâs made for a right handed person iâm a lefty and itâs harder to sharpen my knives because itâs size and it only goes in one direction.second thing is the firer starter it doesnât work so thatâs why iâm giving the product a 3 star rating.

great little tool for camping, hunting, fishing and prepper
I am impressed with the knife sharpening this tool provides. I sharpened an old Buck knife i found many years ago and couldnât believe how fast it put a decent edge on that blade. The fire starting ferro rod works great. Once you scrape through the Black protective coating you will be able to generate nice hot embers that will have your fire started in no time. Took me 4 strikes to start a fire with some dry grass and wood shavings i made with my knife and a dry piece of pine.The whistle is VERY loud and very high pitched. sure to grab attention.I tryed the tapered sharpener on a couple old fish hooks. not perfect, but it does a decent job of putting a sharp point on a dulled or damaged hook. i tryed it on the serrated blade on a hunting knife and didnât care for the way it performed. seems to be a little to aggressive in my opinion. I would say itâs fine in an emergency when perfect isnât an option.For the price i can highly recommend this great little tool. Iâd pay double and still be satisfied.

Pequeño, portátil y cumple bien con su función principal. En lo personal yo lo compré para tenerlo en la cocina, ya que no requiero afilar cuchillos con tanta frecuencia y los afiladores de cocina suelen tomar más espacio. La caracterÃstica principal que lo puso sobre otros afiladores es el palillo para afilar cuchillos dentados y serrados. Tarda considerablemente más en afilar estos que cuchillos de hoja lisa, pero permite hacerlo sin maltratarlos lo cual es esencial. El chispero es algo complicado de usar ya que su punto de apoyo es pequeño y es difÃcil pasarlo con la velocidad correcta por las hojas del afilador sin angularlo, además de que es difÃcil apuntar dónde van a aterrizar las chispas. Aún asà podrÃa ser útil. El silbato de supervivencia es su peor función ya que apenas se escucha, aunque realmente eso no importa mucho ya que no planeaba usarlo para eso.En general es una excelente compra por su facilidad de uso para la función principal y la calidad de los materiales. Todo lo demás es extra.
