Basic Electric Kettle that does the Job Very Well
My girlfriend had one that she has had for several years and used daily. The nylon lever finally broke rendering the pot inoperative. It worked so well for so long, we decided to replace it with the same pot. Boils water in a minute or two, shuts off automatically, very simple well designed stainless steel pot. Highly recommend for the price…just go easy pressing down that nylon knob to activate…

Stainless steel kettle that works well and looks good
The Secura stainless steel kettle replaces a Braun plastic kettle because I didn’t want to use hot water that comes in contact with plastic anymore. The Secura kettle works well and looks good. Quit a bit of steam comes out during the last few seconds of boiling and a little (very little) water leaks through the lid. The outside of the kettle does not get hot so no danger of getting burnt. The handle feels somewhat flimsy. Worth the money I paid for it.

Simple and as plastic free as it gets
Spent hours looking for a kettle for our roughly 1.5L French press carafe. Unfortunately this is a product category that could stand to have a little more quality and a little less plastic, so needless to the options are astoundingly limited if you don’t want any plastic on the interior of the unit.Here’s how I settled on this unit:Double wall stainless steel – keeps exterior cool to touchMetal lid – a lot of stainless steel kettles use plastic lids. There is a very tiny bit of steam exposure to the plastic hinge from what I can tell.1.5L capacity – has interior line measurements for .5, 1, and 1.5So far so good. Not wobbly on the base, heats quickly enough. Does seem to take longer for the auto shutoff when boiling than what I’d expect but that’s not really a problem.The only improvement would be a removable lid rather than a hinge. I’m not sure why that style is so uncommon, but it’s the only way you’ll have a true plastic-free unit. There are a small number of options that do have this but appear to have a lot more quality control issues. I have past experience with the Secura brand and feel more confident in their products.

Wont Last a Year with Heavy Use – Poor Design Corrodes Wiring
I use my kettle quite a bit, on a daily basis (1-2 French Presses of coffee in the AM & 2-3+ cups of tea in the afternoon). This is the 3rd kettle that has died, each lasting less than a year. 3 because I bought the cheap warranty after the first one died because I had hoped I just had a dud, but $4 for the warranty was cheap insurance rather than another $30 for a new kettle. Wrong, it wasn’t a dud, it’s a design flaw that allows the excess steam & moisture into the vent/overflow inside the kettle that runs down the inside of the handle, straight to where the electrical components are!When the corrosion of the components start, the kettle will start boiling the water but shuts off before it reaches boiling. If you try to restart the kettle right away, nothing happens. You have to wait a little bit then try again. A real blast when you are trying to make coffee & get out the door in the morning.

I bought this kettle after looking a numerous models on Amazon USA. Iâm from the U.K. and have had my share of electric kettles. I went with this one for its style, price and the fact that itâs stainless steel. I liked the idea of the measurements being on the inside. I am very satisfied with this kettle after having used it. Itâs sleek and elegant design looks lovely on my counter. The kettle is so quiet I canât even hear it boiling. The exterior is only slightly warm to touch, but definitely not hot at a full boil. Pours beautifully and lights up when on with an automatic shut off. There is no condensation in the exterior and no leakage. What more could you ask for in a kettle? Itâs brilliant! Iâm so pleased with my purchase!
