Yeah, it can rust, but…
This has been my favorite drainer for 15 years. Big, good looking (it never leaves the counter top), plenty of cup racks, well balanced, sturdy and easy to maintain. I left my old one behind when I relocated and am finally replacing it. Will it rust? The body of my former drainer never had that problem. However, the feet will rust. The nylon foot pads will collect water and hold it against the chrome plating and the plating will eventually fail. Once that happens…yeah, rust. (I filled the foot pads on this new one with a clear silicone-based caulk I had leftover from a kitchen project to prevent water from ever getting in on this one. To my way of thinking this is preferable to a vinyl-coated wire rack as vinyl, over time, can be more problematic.)

Started rusting after 2 weeks – Rubbermaid should do much, much better
What’s happened to your quality protocols, Rubbermaid????We still have an old Rubbermaid dish drainer of the exact same style, which was in a hot, humid oceanside location for TWENTY YEARS without rusting. No rust at all. Bought another one a few years back, for a different and somewhat drier locale, but it began to rust within weeks of being placed into service. It was such a mess after a while, we tossed it (before taking photos). Thought we’d try again, because the design of this drainer is still excellent — it holds a lot of dishes, compactly. But once again it began to rust within the first couple of weeks – attached photos are after 3 weeks, and now we know from experience that this drainer will have significant rust before too much longer. If it was just unattractive that would be a drag, but the rust also stains dishes and glassware.Rubbermaid, are you listening?? PLEASE FIX THIS, IT’S AN OTHERWISE WELL-DESIGNED PRODUCT.

Why Does a Stainless Steel Item Rust so Quickly?
Had one in black. Got really rusty, so purchased this one in chrome. Three months later, it’s rusting too. I’m not trying to be picky, just want to get decent value for the money. In every other way it is perfect for its use.

Nicely functional
The product works nicely, and has ample space. I’d have given it 5 stars, but it arrived with several of the cup-holding tongs bent from poor packaging. I was able to bend them back in shape, and there’s nothing very complicated about the rest of the story.

Rubbermaid Dish Drainer “Bisque” (stainless Steel)
This Rubbermaid dish drainer is replacing my old Rubbermaid drainer that I’ve been using for over 20 years before it started to show some rust. I hope that this one will last as long. The package arrived very well packed. I am extremely happy with this purchase and hopefully Rubbermaid will continue to make them, unlike the clear tray that goes under this dish trainer that apparently they stopped making.

Rusts quickly
Well made, heavy duty, holds plenty of dishes, but now after 2 years it is leaving rust marks on my dishes. And it has been rusting for over a year. Doesn’t last.

Rusted within a couple weeks
I had this same product, and it lasted for 3 years, then began rusting. Got this replacement and rusted within a couple weeks. Seller is BS, no returns are allowed. They tell you to contact manufacturer, which I did, and they are not an authorized seller, so manufacturer won’t support the product. So, trash…

I love it!
After reading many of the negative comments, I was glad I didn’t pay attention. This is a great dish dryer, and I’m glad I bought it. Don’t know if my old dish rack was a Rubbermaid, but after buying a nice silverware dryer, I realized how dull and rusty my dish rack was. The plastic silverware holder, was so disgusting and impossible to get totally clean. So, I bought the pretty silverware attachment, and stupidly cut a piece of my old rack, so it would fit. It was stupid to remove the wire from my old rack, because the new attachment just swang. I saved the cut wire and thought I could glue it back on, to hold the new silverware attachment. That didn’t work, so I set out to get a new rack. I couldn’t believe the prices of a new dish rack, so despite the bad reviews, I bought this rack. I don’t use many dishes, but used it to dry out my frying pans and assorted things, I use frequently. I had to remove a wire in the back, to hold my pans. It didn’t break or bend, and plan to spray it with clear enamel, when I get a chance. In the meantime, it looks great and is sturdy enough for me. I really think this is a quality rack, and couldn’t be happier.I COULD’T RECOMMEND THIS RACK MORE! I love it!!!

Awful. Rusted within weeks.I used the white version when I lived in the US and it came with me when I moved to the UK. It was roomy and did a great job. Eventually after 9-10 years it rusted in areas where the white coating was damaged, possibly caused by knife blades.I liked the white version so much, I bought this chrome version from Amazon US and shipped it to the UK. It was expensive and an utter disappointment. It showed rust spots within 2-3 weeks.
