    Works great and not expensive
This Presto EverSharp is a gem. I sharpened to a razor edge 20 kitchen knives, including 6 serrated ones, in less than 10 minutes, with no problems.

Very Impressed. You don’t need your knives any sharper * Update*
I read all the reviews before buying and just had to write my review (my first ever of any product). I have worked in kitchens in the past and prepare meals regularly. I am a cajun cook and we chop crazy amounts of onions, celery, garlic, bell peppers and everything else from the garden. I also have a catfish pond, and I need a very sharp filet knife. So needless to say I have a drawer full of old filet and chef knives of varing quality and dullness. I have tried so many sharpening techniques and nothing I tried could restore the original sharpness without spending a ton of time an energy.
Well let me tell you, all the positive reviews are correct, this is a marvelous little gem and its the best $24 dollars I ever spent. Less than the new knife I was going to buy. I have knives of every metal imaginable and this little baby put an edge on them that is crazy sharp. I had to warn the wife about how sharp the knives were. Before if a burgular would come at me with one of my knives I would have died laughing, now I have to worry how they are stored in the drawer so not to accidently cut myself rummaging around in there.
Trust me, if you need your knives sharper than this baby gives you then you just are plain crazy. I believe I saw my onions cowering in the fridge! I had to cook a big seafood gumbo with extra onions and celery just to celebrate my new sharp knives.
This baby gets The Cajun seal of approval!!!
Have fun and be safe with your like new sharpness!
    ***Update***
It has now been almost three months since I first sharpened my knives and wrote this review. I use my knives everyday and they have held their edge ever since, this sharpener is just collecting dust now because I have had no need to resharpen them. I of course use a good piece of steel to keep a razor edge but otherwise I don’t foresee having to resharpen for awhile yet.
    ***Update 2***
Its has been over 6 months now. My knives are sharp as razors with only two sharpening times. And they get heavy use, cleaning huge catfish from my pond and also chicken and all sorts of heavy kitchen use. Coupled with a nice piece of steel this sharpener is so good I just can’t live without it. With so much usuage out of my knives and only having to sharpen 2 times in the last 6 months I would have to say it is the best 24$ I have ever spent!
    ***Update 3***
It has now been 2 years since purchasing this excellent knife sharpener. It is funny, I took this sharpener down from the top shelf to sharpen my 12″ chef knife before cutting up a ton of meat to make sausage and I had to wipe all the dust off of it before using it, that is how infrequent I have to sharpen my knifes, and I use my knives for heavy duty use! Love this sharpener! Get yourself a decent piece of steel, a good chopping board and you got it made.
***Update 4*** It now has been 4 years! It is funny 2 years ago my wife bought me this exact sharpener by accident. I had it on my Amazon wish list…for review purposes and she didn’t even realize I had one, that is how infrequently I have to sharpen my chef knives. I kept a hold of it to see how long my original one would last, well I am tired of waiting, I am bringing the unopened 2 year old sharpener to work today to sell it.
And I do a lot of cutting and I just took it down from the cabinet and had to dust if off again to see how well it worked before letting go with the unopened one. Knives didn’t need it just wanted to ‘top em off’, all like new again.
*Note to commenter, all my knives in use are in their original cases, or original sleeve.
Next year will be my 5 year review. The person I am selling the unopened sharpener to is a hard core hunter and trapper. We will see how it handles. Stay tuned.

    good value, fast, easy.
Sharpens quickly and well. This has two grinding wheels that put a 20 degree edge on steel knives. Most of my dull kitchen knives were sharp again with 3-4 passes through the fine wheel (right side). It took about a minute for each knife.
In my case, I had 20-30 knives that had never been sharpened in 30 years, Pro sharpening services charge about $5 per knife, or $1-2 per inch of blade. I didn’t want to pay $150 to sharpen knives once. I have sharpening stones, but didn’t want to take the time or mess of doing it myself. So with this, I paid less than $40 and was able to sharpen all my knives in 30-40 minutes. It’s not a fine polished razor edge, but it’s great for most kitchen knives. Win.
Works for steel knives – not ceramic. Works for 20 degree knives, which a common edge for inexpensive knives. Some high-quality knives are 15-17 degrees – They require a different sharpener.
Worked for all the knives I had from paring to large.
The coarse wheel will grind out nicks and chips or reprofile a blade to 20 degrees. My knives didn’t need that.
The Fine wheel puts on a sharp edge, It’s not super fine and leaves a significant burr. Use a finer stone or a honing rod to remove the burr.
I did not have any issues with burning or removing the temper from the metal.

    Works Well!
Delighted with this purchase. Pull your knives from left to right two times in each slot. Wash. All done. Super sharp. That being said I buy good knives. Don’t know how well it works on cheap ones. You probably have to sharpen quite often. Still…. Easy peasy.

Why did I wait so long?
We have several Dexter Russel kitchen knives and a few others as well. In the past, we would take them you the kitchen store during their annual charity knife sharpening event and get them cleaned up for $1 each. They haven’t held the event in a while and I am not that good with a stone. The regular price for sharpening is $1 per inch. I have tried other manual sharpeners and they were just OK.
When this arrived we spent a half hour or more sharpening all of the knives in the kitchen: more than a dozen 6-14 inch knives. It was easy and the sharpener did a great job. It’s only been a couple of weeks and the knives are holding their edge well. They didn’t do that with the less expensive, manual tools.
This is a smart purchase if you have several knives to maintain. One trip to the sharpener would easily cost us more.

Tool Works fine – But like everythign now adays – an obvisous return.
The tool works as advertised and does the job well, so no complaints about functionality. However, I’m giving 3 stars because it was clear the item had been previously returned. There was no indication from the seller that this was a returned item, and it’s a growing issue I’ve noticed when shopping on Amazon.
It’s disappointing to receive an item that feels secondhand, especially without transparency from the seller. It raises concerns about whether the product might be defective or fail at a critical moment. Experiences like this have made me shift away from buying on Amazon as frequently as I used to.

Works great-if you follow the directions
I was a little nervous about this purchase due to some of the reviews. But I watched a YouTube video, read the directions and surprise! it did a great job sharpening several different knives. Do not apply pressure, simply pull the knife through following the proper angle. For the people that said they mangled their knives, I’d say the blame is solely on operator error. Just follow directions.

Easy to use, don’t often require multiple passes to make a knife sharp, even my dull ones. Just one pass is often enough. I’ve used it several times, don’t know how long it will perform like this, but so far it’s doing an excellent job. My friend just but a high tech sharpener costing many times more than this and a lot more complicated to operate, he suggested I come over with my knives so he could sharpen them “properly”, so I brought him the “dullest” of my sharp knives. He took a thin piece of paper and showed my how HIS knives could slice a piece of this paper, and when he tried the same thing with my knife it performed just as good as his, without him sharpening my knife, he was very impressed.

Apparently the time for returning this item has passed but this was bought as a Christmas present so opened only on Christmas Day.
We were horrified to discover a US plug on it, since there was no mention on the seller’s page that it was for use in US only. so it is very dangerous. If we had decided to change the plug for a three pin pug it would have caused a fire.
This is totally unacceptable and VERY DANGEROUS and I want my money refunded.
