Be a the Sharpest Knife in the Drawer
Iâve been cooking for the family for over 30 years and rely on my knives on a daily basis. I have about 30 knives that range from a 4â paring knife to a 15â prime rib carving knife.
My knife drawer is full of utility knives, chefâs knives, boning knives, cleavers, vegetable knives, pocket knives and even a Corsican Vendetta knife.
My knife drawer is off limits and the wife knows how particular I am about keeping them organized, clean and sharp. I use a whetstone and strop to keep them razor sharp.
I donât know what it is about some men and knives, but Iâm one of those guys. A major pet peeve for me is dull knives. Dull knives are useless and dangerous.
That being said, you can easily take it to a level that is ridiculous, and invest hundreds and hundreds of dollars in knife sharpening equipment. But truth be told, you really donât need a knife that will cut tomatoes so thin you can see through them. Iâve never had a need for vegetables cut that thin. Youâre prepping food and not performing delicate neurosurgery. You donât really need your knives to be as sharp as a surgeonâs tools.
I recently purchased this Eversharp electric sharpener and did so mainly to get back some time that I usually spend hand sharpening my knives. I was a bit skeptical until I sharpened the first knife using this product.
I used steps 2 and 3 and made only two passes per side, and the knife/through a sheet of paper with ease. It was sharp enough to shave some hair off of my arm.
The key is to make sure you use very light pressure and allow the weight of the knife to make contact with the sharpening wheel as you pul it through. Use the orange guides and keep the knife against it to maintain angle. No need for pressure. With good technique, you can sharpen a knife in under 2 minutes. No need to wear down your knives, nice and easy.
Once sharpened, you are good to go and donât need to sharpen them very often. Use a steel to keep your edges straight and youâll find this sharpener a very inexpensive product. Highly recommended.
*The only negative is that it doesnât do scissors and the wheels arenât diamond, but at this price point, it is a remarkable sharpener IMHO.
*This is for home use, and probably wouldnât be practical in a professional kitchen.

Should have bought it years ago…
Exactly what we expected. I got sick of dealing with the time involved with sharpening kitchen knives with other methods. I have memories of a nice electric sharpener my friends parents had in the 80’s and how fast it could make a dull knife like new again. That and the fact we are at home 6 nights a week and actually cook meals and really use our knives a lot lead to this purchase. My wife is an amazing cook and I do a lot of prep for her, we joke I’m the sous chef and grill/ fry person. It had honestly gotten to the point of frustration trying to keep knives sharp as busy as we are, the kind of thing you don’t think about until you need it when you’re busy working a lot. I had previously used traditional whetstone and pull thru type sharpeners but they don’t hold a candle to this machine in terms of time saved. The unit is so simple to use. It’s the good quality I expect from the presto brand. Nothing fancy but from my experience they make well designed products that usually hold up well and just work plain and simple. I was really surprised how quickly the knives were sharp. I was digging through everything in the kitchen and asking my wife what I could sharpen for her lol. Knives came out sharp enough to shave hair off my arm. Definitely wish I’d bought this like15 years ago. As long as it holds up and lasts we are beyond satisfied. Prep time and quality of ingredients is back to on point thanks to this. Seriously, if you’re tired of dull knives and don’t have hours to sit and hone a dozen of them, this will do the job in minutes and make them like you remember them new. It will do most pocket knives, meat cleavers and filet knives perfectly as well. Highly recommend for the home chef or any good kitchen.

Not top flight, but works well
This is very useful for a quick easy sharpening session. The knives have a large discrepancy as far as the angle of sharpening goes, meaning they do not fit in tightly to one specific angled position. There is a lot of slop and I havent figured out if they should lean one way or the other for the perfect angle. That said they do not get knives hair cutting sharp, but they do get them very sharp, and much better than nothing, and it is very easy to use.

It exploded on first use. And blew a fuse. Took me forever to get internet back. It is a good product but only for US use. I had an adaptor but did not know I need s transformer. Thank you Amazon as you left no indication of the type of plug the product comes with. Nor the instructions inside the box were very clear. I am soo disappointed. I would buy it again as I am in dyre need of one but none of the other products specify what type of plug they come with.

This products works with 120 V and UAE has 240 V. They shipped a product that doesn’t work in the destination county. Now, I have a new product in a box that I can’t use, and I don’t see an option how to return it 🙁
