Love this slow cooker!
UPDATE 9/29/2024: This slow cooker is still going strong. I still use it regularly and it still works and looks like I just bought it. I still get asked about it every time I bring it to a potluck. It still holds heat like a charm. Hubby has occasional chili cook-off’s and potlucks at his office and he uses this to carry his creations to work and keep them warm. I have no delusions that my cooker is being treated gently when he heads out with it, but it always comes back ready for me to wash up and put away with no visible battle scars. The last few times I have used the cooker at away from home gatherings, I have utilized taking the lid completely off. This makes the unit even easier to use in the serving line. It is so easy to remove the lid and then reattach when through. Removing the lid also makes this cooker even easier to clean. This unit sells itself when you see how well it retains heat. The insulation is phenomenal. The price may make you stop and think, but the build and the cooking performance make this a no-brainer buy if you slow cook and/or transport food. I have not been compensated for my review or purchase. This is my honest opinion.UPDATE: I have now had this 8-quart for two years. It works just like new and I still love it! My only wish that would make it PERFECT for me would be to have an auto warm feature after the cooking time was complete. That would enable me to use this at home while I am at work; but that would require it to be more digital.I ordered this a year ago and I still love it. This is the easiest slow cooker to travel with and the insulation does a great job keeping things warm. When I show up with this little gem, I always get quizzed on where I got it. If you are planning to travel with your meal in a slow cooker, this is the cooker you need. It rides really well in my car and the lid stays on nice and tight. Size wise, I use this like a 6 quart. I was not compensated in any way for my review.Update: This little beauty is still going strong. I use it regularly. The insulation around this thing must be why the food stays so warm. It’s still a breeze to use, clean and carry. I see that the price has gone up substantially since I bought mine. Even at the current price, it’s still great if you are looking for a slow cooker that cooks nicely, retains heat well and travels easily. Not a lot of cooking bells and whistles on it – it’s just got off, warm, low and high- but it cooks well and still looks like new. It does what it is supposed to do well. That’s more than most appliances can say.

Pricy yes but it is a slow cooking & travel dish rockstar 2019, updated 11/2023
Long review, but I hope it gives you all the details my friends asked me or what I originally wondered about my beloved Nomad 8 traveling slow cooker since 2019. I have gifted the 8 quart to many brides and friends, who all fallen in love with it too.Pros:Still going strong for over 4 years since purchased on Presto’s Amazon site. I took a chance on it after seeing one online as there weren’t many reviews on a crazy slow cooker that is in a cooler ð. It’s heavily used, as I have toted it all over, basically put it through many potential leaks; still going strong as a cooker and doesn’t spill or leak in transit. Trust me, I’m always late and even if you drive like a bouncy Baja desert racer like me; it will NOT leak if the handle is up & locked. Over the last 40 years, I have had several traditional slow cookers that were inconsistent in heating, burning food, this slow cooker has been as I expected for cooking temp. I’ve stopped using my traditional slow cookers since getting this one.I’ve taken it to a regular monthly potlucks since 2019, host has minimal plugs to use. I’ve unplugged and food is impressively holding temp 2 hours later. A nice bonus to the metal pot insert, I can place food in the oven to quick cook, then put it into the slow cooker sleeve to keep it warm at my functions. I haven’t tried cooking over 350 degrees or broiling, just playing it safe. If you just want to take it without cooking in it, Presto had recommended in an Amazon review, to have the insert in to warm it, because it may get too hot. I warm the carry shell by either plugging it on high into my Bronco for the drive or with my food in it for about 15 min before leaving home. The actual cooker, doesn’t get very hot on the outside when plugged in.Excellent lid design features: Locking lid handle compactly folds all the way to the side like a cooler. Lid, it flips up for people to serve and stays on the unit so the guest isn’t fumbling with it. Guests close it more often, than traditional; they aren’t fighting to a spot to sit the awkward old style slow cooker lids, bonus for heat retention. The plug cord is a decent length at about 36″ measured for this review.I prefer the 8 quart size over 6 quart as the inner non stick pot is simply taller than the 6 quart. So even if your receipe is for a smaller slow cooker, because of this design. I like minimal appliances because of my storage, so you can use the 8 quart, saving you from having several large slow cookers to store.I like the white board to write your dish name on it; helps folks with allergies too. A normal dollar store dry erase pen fits into the holder. Every now and then, it needs a magic eraser to clean up the ghost writing.I like the straightforward knob to know its on and temp. Tech challenged hubby will use this over my pressure cooker all in one, every time. All other brands with the lights just fade after awhile and you can’t see them anyway.Cons, 2 are not deal breakers, 1 could be:Love the concept of retracting the plug/cord into the unit for transport or storage. However, the cord fights the hidden storage area, starts off pretty decent, but then when you have about 8″ that still need to go in & doesn’t really go inside well at all. I just snap the plug into place anyway, at least it isn’t tripping me walking, so it’s not a deal breaker. It’s easy to forget the spoon holder and hosts throw it away. I finally found a replacement 2 years later (11-2023) on Presto’s website http://www.gopresto.com So that isn’t a deal breaker either, replacement decently priced, shipping wasn’t too bad on GoPresto 11/11/23.2023 new deal breaker? I was REALLY surprised how the price jumped since 2019 59.93 to 89.90 on Amazon. A lot of people will not “splurge”, thinking I won’t spend that much on a slow cooker I can buy under $30 at a box store or it may be just a novelty that doesn’t work well. Sadly, I’m concerned, this awesome leakproof, easy to run, great slow cooker will likely fade into the sunset.Hopefully if you have read this review this far, you can find a good seasonal sale or Black Friday pricing by Presto.

Super transportable
This crockpot is fantastic! It is very portable and easy to clean. We use it for tailgating at Nordic races in the northeast, food stays warm and I donât have fears of the cover falling During travel. One suggestion I would make is to have the knobs recessed, I do worry about The control knobs getting knocked during transit.8 quarts is a lot and I do not use this at home for dinner cooking. I wanted some thing pretty big and this fits the bill:-)

Most Exciting CrockPot EVER
CrockPots aren’t that cool, right? Wrong. This one is. It’s cool looking, and has some pretty cool features to boot. It really looks like a cooler at first glance. It has a small dry-erase board space to label your dish on the front, a built in dry-erase marker & slot so you don’t lose it. It has a removable spoon rest with a band to secure your spoon during travel as well. When the handle is in the carry position, it doubles as a lock for the top, and the gasket on the inside of the lid ensures no spills during travel (the main reason I purchased this). It holds a LOT of food (8qt), and has a lightweight metal insert rather than ceramic, making it easy to clean and lighter to carry. The lid is easily removable and has a clear glass window and a vent. There is also a small tray in the back to catch the condensation & a place to hide the cord during travel or when otherwise not in use.Overall, I do not have a single negative thing to say about this thing- it is worth absolutely every penny!

As a camper I was thrilled when I found a crock pot that looked like a cooler! I have cooked several things in it and found the temperature to be spot on and it is very easy to clean (just pop it in the dishwasher – no more heavy ceramic to deal with!). I am really looking forward to using it camping this year – cooking inside my trailer and then easily carrying it out to the picnic table for a meal! Great product by Presto!

Sturdy, easy to clean. It is slow “slow cooker” so give it time.Started at home then finished on the road through the car outlet converter. Tasty!

Easy to bring somewhere. Keeps heat. I would like a light to indicate if itâs on or off.

Received it this afternoon and Iâm disappointed that the box got punctured – itâs supposed to be a Christmas gift… Otherwise, I cannot comment on the product yet until the gift recipient tries it out.
