Most plates were curled and unusable
I had high hopes for these plates. Some came flat but most of them cam bent in half pretty bad. I though by laying them out overnight they would flatten. WRONG! They curled up even more and they were completely unsuable. I couldn’t even return them.

Durable, attractive eco-friendly option for disposable plates
I really like the natural look of these plates; thereâs a variation in both the color and the shape (while some are round, some are more oval in shape) that gives the set a charm I donât often see in disposable dishware. I decided to order these because eco-friendly materials appeal to me and I think the wood-like look of the plates will lend themselves perfectly to a fairy-themed birthday party I am planning for my daughter which will incorporate a lot of natural elements.I’ve included two photos where I show both sides of three of the plates. Since the part of the palm leaf that attaches to the trunk is darker on one side than another, you’ll see the bottom of the plates are darker than the top. The slight irregularity to the shape of the plates also extends to the evenness of the “flat” part: Some are a little more bowed than others. As I mentioned, this will be a party for children and the main meal will consist of pizza, so it’s not really a big deal if the plates don’t sit perfectly flat on tables. Generally they do sit nice and flat and it’s only when you get to the edges that the plate can bow upward a bit. But if your guests will be eating a meal that need a lot of cutting with a knife and fork, you may want to consider the possibility that the plate could go off balance if a guest works their way to the edge.Itâs rather fascinating that theyâre made from palm leaves. I ended up looking into it online and found some interesting videos about how they collect the fallen leaves and press them into molds to create the desired shapes. I didnât realize palm leaves are so strong at the base: each plate is very dense and feels like wood. The full stack of plates is definitely heavier than a stack of 50 paper or plastic plates would be. Included with this review is a video where I try my best to bend a plate but can only barely bend the edges. Even when I smack it on the table the plate isnât affected at all. Itâs clear these will be able to hold up to a lot more than a regular paper plate, and I think that justifies the added cost. Since I really only entertain a larger number of guests once a year, I donât mind spending a little more for an eco-friendly solution, especially since it provides such an added functional benefit.

Fun to use but these do not lie flat, nor evenly as pictured
These are unusual disposable and, best of all, biodegradable plates to use at a party or picnic or camping, etc. Iâm using them in my RV because itâs too easy to quickly wind up with a sink full of dishes. The first thing I noticed was how heavy the stack is compared to paper plates, not to mention how tall the stack is comparatively. The latter is a problem for me living in an RV with space at a premium. But I like them nonetheless. Iâve pictured my first use of the plate with a pasta dish. It held up well but it did get soft in one area on the bottom and I was concerned it could break through. I would not use these for any type of liquid (think gravy) or overly moist foods. But theyâre great for sandwiches, etc. They are a novelty and if you use these at your next party, not only will clean up be a breeze, but youâre bound to get several comments about how cool they are. Be aware that these do not sit flat like paper plates. Theyâre sort of warped. But I think that adds to the novelty. I wish they would have included some thing describing what theyâre made of and other info like how theyâre made. There is nothing even saying what theyâre made of or that they biodegrade.

Environmentally responsible option
It’s just me now that kids are grown. I never liked doing dishes so I took this opportunity to just use paper plates. Of course, I would get lectured about how bad that is for the planet my kids and their kids have to live in. When I came across these, I was so happy. Now, I get praise for being environmentally responsible. At first, I was worried that my food would have wood or splinters or taste funny. It took a month before I finally relaxed because I used them daily without any of that happening. It’s hard to believe because they look like the top of a stump. They are perfect for daily use. Plus, they look really cool and I feel great using them. I had no problem cooking microwave bacon or burgers. They held up at least 10 times better than coated paper plates.
