These do the job!
I bought 4 mini pie pans and Amazon suggested I purchase these together with them. I use a similar product when I bake a 9″ pie so I thought – sure! These worked very well. The recipe I was using called for baking the pies at a high temp first to brown the crust then lowering the temp and putting a baking sheet under them to finish baking. I had to reposition the shields after getting them on the baking sheet, but it wasn’t a big deal. They also squished the crimping around the edge a little, but it was far better than having the edge burned. They also wash up nice in the dishwasher. I had pie filling stuck to 3 of them and it just washed off without having to scrub. Very nice. I would buy these over again.

Fits the Large “Marie Callender” Pot Pies!
I grew up on boxed Pot Pies. Maybe bad, maybe good. But nowadays I find I like one every once in a while. I have found at my local stores that the “Banquet” Pot Pies I grew up eating have gone downhill as far as quality, or maybe I’ve gone more upscale. I now go with the Large Marie Callender (Not Family Size) Pot Pies. But the directions called for using Foil to protect the edges. Very Tedious! Enter Amazon and Norpro. These work like a champ! I place the Pot Pies on a cookie sheet, put these over them, and bake according to the Box Directions. No burnt crusts, perfectly done!

They work well.
Easy to place on my little chicken pot pies. No mor hallling with aluminum foil to protect the crust from burning. Time and frustration saver. Save $$ on foil. Wish I bought them sooner.

Just Ok.
They worked, but my crusts were a little darker than I like them to be & I cooked my pot pie 5 minutes less. Still easier than using foil.

Doesn’t reflect heat
Unlike plain old aluminum foil and solid aluminum and stainless steel devices, the crust readily burns underneath these silicone “shields,” which don’t seem to provide any thermal protection whatsoever and may even focus the heat underneath them. Waste of money — they fail at their intended use. Might make some effective if expensive rubber bands…

Nice.
Iâve only use them once, but I like them. The edge of the crust did darken a tiny bit. Iâm glad I bought them.

Sick of wrapping foil around your edges?
If you’re sick of wrapping your edges with foil – you are going to LOVE these! I have wanted something like this for 30 years. I’ve used foil forever. I saw these a few years back but didn’t want to spend the extra $. I finally broke down and ordered them and they are GREAT!! They come nicely packaged so you can wrap them for your favorite pie makers as gifts. They don’t scratch surfaces the way metal edge covers can and nothing sticks to them so there is no effort in cleaning them. I’m kicking myself for not spending the money years ago, but better late than never. These things are a game changer.
