It takes about 20 minutes to boil a full bottle of water, starting at 115°, which I expected and don’t mind at all. After it started boiling, the exterior bottle was still cool and easy to handle. I’m honestly surprised it works so well and I don’t understand why these aren’t more popular! Anyone who makes their own hot drinks for the day should get one, the price is very reasonable for the value you get and it includes a lifetime warranty!?!?! I’m very impressed

Heating element at bottom only, scalds contents. Here’s how to clean the crud out.
As other reviewers have noted, this is a small cup. But you knew that going into this. What you did not know was that the heating element is only at the very bottom of the cup, using only an on-off control mechanism that results in scalding any contents subject to scalding, such as lattes, tea with milk, etc. Yes, the manual says use only with water. Rrriiight. You bought an electric coffee cup to use with only water. Get real. On the plus side, the thermostatic control does work and will heat and hold to the set temperature. But when it comes time to clean it you will have crud scalded to the bottom of the cup.How do you get the crud out? With a denture tablet and a brush. After you clean out the cup with soapy water, fill the the cup with hot water, drop in a denture tablet and let it soak for 10 minutes. Dump out the water and use a brush with bristles on the tip to clean the cup, especially the bottom. Rinse. Bob’s your uncle.All this was so much trouble I bought a really well insulated stainless steel cup that was bigger. I’m much happier. I toss that cup in the dishwasher when I’m done with it. No scalded on crud. No cords. Stays hot enough for 2 hours if I preheat the cup before filling it. You do preheat your stainless steel cup, don’t you? If you don’t, just pay a bit extra to have the shop fill it with hot water and dump it before they fill it with your beverage. You’re welcome.
