Simple and effective
This is a review of Mercer Culinary Knife Guard, 10 Inch x 2 InchMy knives are of good quality and some are quite costly. I use knife guards on all my good knives to protect the blade from getting dulled or otherwise damaged when not. being used. Knife guards also protect you or someone else getting cut from the knife blade. This is inexpensive protection for yourself and your knife.

Protect your investment
I recently purchased very nice Japanese knives. Unfortunately, companies no longer send a sheath to protect their expensive knives SO I had a missing. I am thrilled with how nice these covers are. I wasnât quite sure how to place the knives in it. With a couple tries I found the very easily go into the pocket, grip them in place and then easily removed. They seem to be a great value for what I paid for them, very sturdy. Although Iâve only had them for 2 days they arrived without scratches and are of adequate weight to protect the blades. I am quite pleased with them

Good knife guard
As many others have commented, this is a strange knife guard in that itâs open on the top and both sides, so rather than sliding the blade in point first like the sheath on a sword, you slide it in from the top, heel of the blade first. Iâm not wild about that design, at the very least itâs not intuitive to me, but as with most things you probably get used to it. I bought this for my dad to go with the new bread knife I got him. It fits, it holds the knife, itâs secure, so the knife doesnât slide around or threaten to just slip out of it. And the reason I got this one is because when I saw these reviews and started looking for a more standard sheath-style knife guard I straight up couldnât find one, in stock, the right size, or available at a similar price. The only other options were also this style. I donât know if it was a quirk of the Covid supply chain issues or if this is just the industry standard now and we all just have to adjust, but⦠itâs fine. Like I said, it fits, itâs secure, if you use it right itâs safe (there is a video⦠it feels wrong that there needs to be a video, but itâs in the product description, so there you go), and the price was good. Iâm not blown away but for the lack of options, Iâd recommend it, I guess.

Just Right
We were vacationing in SE Virginia’s peanut region and hitting peanut shops when we found an old-school one full of peanuts, hams, “antiques” and assorted junk. I found a box of used butcher breaking knives from a meat-processing plant that had been sharpened to within an inch of their lives–literally. I was in the market for just such a knife and the price was right. I needed a case to transport my “new” knife home, something that would accommodate its long, curved and very well used blade. This case from Mercer fit perfectly and got the job done for a very reasonable price.

Knife recommended by local baker
Did a lot of research about knives for levain bread and this one came highly recommended. Chose brown handle because was least expensive of those offered. Next time I was standing in the very long line at the baker’s who makes this levain bread, I noticed that the knife he recommends is this one.

It’s ok, does the job. But doesn’t fit upto the hilt properly on the bread knife.Could do with a sheaf for each knife rather than a generic one size fits all one.
