Beautiful wood, not so great design
I want to like this knife block more than I actually do. It’s very pretty and nicely made. But the design is limiting and I am afraid that most people will find this a bit disappointing. Not all of that is the fault of the seller. The problem with ‘standalone’ (meaning not matched to the knife set you have by the manufacturer) home knife blocks is that the seller has no idea of what size and style knives you have. And because blocks usually need to fit under the upper cabinets in your kitchen, this limits how tall they can be. On the other hand, there are no truly standard sizes for knives–you can have a carving knife longer than a foot or one that is substantially wider. And there is a strong desire by anyone with expensive knives to keep them displayed and out of any drawer where they can be knicked or accidentally cut you. This knife block is great for some knives. For example, 8 standard steak knives fit perfectly (for me.) One of my cleavers fit in the cleaver slot pretty well, but my larger cleaver was too wide to fit the other slot.My longer knives hit the counter because there is no wooden bottom to this to prevent that from happening. And the magnetic area on the front ihas very good magnets but the glass panel installed to protect the wood is held on by metal fasteners which can easily bang into the knives that are held there. Some of the issues could have been solved with a better design. Knife blocks are typically designed at an angle to get some extra length and to make withdrawing the knives easier. This block hasn’t adopted that innovation. There is much to praise here. For example, the block is quite nice looking. And it isn’t quite a knife ‘block’–you can see the blades hanging from the side which can make it easier to pick the exact one you are looking for. On the other hand, the knives are not held firmly by this design as they would be by a routed out block, so I knives (and accessories like chef’s forks and kitchen shears) just don’t get held firmly unless they are the exact right size for the block.Too many negatives for a product at this price point. Some home chefs may find this perfectly adaptable to their needs and appreciate its attractive form on the counter. For me, it just doesn’t do what I need it to.

Walnut wood knife block w/ magnetic section
This knife block is beautiful and elegant looking. It comes all ready to use, right out of the box; even the anti-slip feet are already installed. It holds all our knives in an easy to clean holder; the hollowed-out design on the sides and bottom allow for simple cleaning by wiping gently with a clean cloth. I love the removable glass cover over the magnetic section, which will keep it fingerprint free–unlike the stainless steel surface of our previous magnetic knife block. One-piece solid wood design enhances the knife blockâs strength, stability, and durability, while offering a timeless beauty.

Ovrepriced based on craftmanship
This piece is overpriced for what you are getting. The ad states it is a One-piece solid wood design but it is 4 pieces glued together. I was expecting the craftmanship to be higher quality based on the price but the slots on the top are roughly done and not perfect as shown in one of my pictures of the top section. The magnets on the front are strong but not strong enough to keep a large knife in place easily. The knives will easily slide if you have knives with heavy handles. There is not bottom so long knifes have the tips resting on the counter and can easily scratch the top if you slide the block and it can cause the tip to be damaged. Our 9.5 inch chef knife is too long for the block. We cannot place it under our cabinets because the knives wont come out without pulling the block out but then i risk damaging my longer knives and scratching the counter top.

There’s a good reason knife blocks should be angled
It’s definitely a beautiful piece of wood. It’s so unfortunate that its good looks are ruined by knives that don’t stand up straight because the slots are too wide, and the block is hollow. They wobble in their slots and look untidy.I’m also not thrilled by the look of the block from the side, with all the blades showing. But the worst part of this set-up is that I can’t pull my larger knives out of the block if the block is set on the counter under a cabinet because the block isn’t angled. So disappointed.

First block I’ve found to hold a cleaver
This review is for the ACTESE Magnetic Knife Block with Glass Cover – Universal Walnut Wood Knife Holder for Safe Knife Storage -Magnetic Knife Holder and Organizer(Knives not included). The ACTESE is the most aspiring knife block I’ve seen to date — and I have seven knife blocks. Not every knife block claims to hold cleavers. The ACTESE actually holds my most used cleaver in either of its two cleaver slots. A cleaver none of my other blocks accommodates.Unfortunately, and why this is not a five star review, I have two other cleavers that are too thick for the ACTESE cleaver slots. The slots should be wider. Nor are the cleaver slots wide enough to fit my Japanese deba, although I’m able to use the strong magnetic surface of the ACTESE to support the deba, however just barely. Still, better than my other knife blocks that won’t hold the deba at all. I’d be thrilled if the ACTESE slots were wider. The wood of ACTESE is beautiful. I love that the ACTESE comes completely assembled! I have the ACTESE and another knife block on my kitchen counter, Together they hold my most used knives without crowding. I am very pleased.Conditionally recommended. Conditionally only because of the narrow cleaver slots.

Good looking block to have sitting out
I love this block although it is rather oversized. Heavy wood. But I like the slots on it and I love having the magnetic side to put other knives on.

Decent knife block – wish it were solid and magnetic on both sides
This a decent and hefty knife block. I like that it has both a magnetic side as well as places to insert knives. What I do not like is that only one side is magnetic and I wish it were a solid knife block so the knives that are inserted wouldn’t flop/shift/move around since there is nothing around them to keep them in place.Overall, though, I do like it.

Great
Super happy with this universal knife block! I had so many varying sets of knives and nowhere to put all of them. This works wonderfully
