only used it once, but so far it is great!
I’ve been making sourdough bread with a dutch oven for years. The bread is always great, but sometimes the round shape doesn’t work. The KOOK dutch oven is perfectly sized and designed to create a more traditional “bread loaf” shape with a sourdough crust and chew. It is tall enough to acommodate a full loaf without the lid impacting the rise of the bread during baking. I’ve only used it once, but so far I love it. It is cast iron – which performs beautifully with the bread. And the glaze (so far) is durable and non-stick.

Researched and approved! Amazing bread oven pan
After doing some researching and analyzing a multitude of Dutch ovens and cast iron bread pans, I chose this particular item. I have been making sourdough now for about a year and attempting to find the best way to obtain a high rising batard loaf. There is not much information online about the Kook bread pans, so hopefully this is helpful. The weight was 11.6 lbs (which is a heavier pan and retains heat well). The measurements of the inside at the bottom are 9.25â x 5.12â. Which using a 10â oval banneton works well. The product appears to have a nice enamel finish inside and was packaged well when received.
Using a 500g flour loaf, fit perfectly. I followed the manufacturerâs instructions with temperature of 450 degrees. The bread loaf picture is the first one attempted in this pan. I used parchment paper when placed in the preheated pan. The only additional step that was done when baking was to add two ice cubes in bottom prior to putting bread in. The lid sat tightly on top and was easily taken off with one hand using an oven glove.
As you can see from the picture, the loaf height is 4.5â! After baking, crust was very crisp with soft inside. I am very impressed with this purchase and recommend. Looking forward to baking loaves like this in the future.
Just a follow up on this after 7 days of using. I have now baked over a dozen loaves. Everyone of them has turned out better than any other baking pan used in the past. This was an excellent choice.

Amazing Dutch Oven
I ventured into sourdough baking and was looking for a bread baking Dutch Oven that was of good quality, but did not cost hundreds of dollars. I saw that this Kook Dutch Oven had good reviews. I liked that it was oval shaped and had a smaller profile than the round ones I was seeing. It was on sale, so I thought I’d give it a try. It arrived securely packaged and well protected in it’s box. I unwrapped it and was very pleased with it’s appearance. Mine is blue with white interior. It’s quite weighty and substantial and appears to be very well made. It comes with the main “oven”, lid and a lid removing tool. I couldn’t wait to bake my first loaf of sourdough bread and the Kook Dutch Oven did not disappoint. The oven helps me produce perfect sourdough loaves with crispy, brown exteriors and soft, lofty interiors. I have used it for several months and have baked at least a dozen loaves including white, wheat and rye and have had great results each time. The Kook Dutch Oven washes well and still look new. I would highly recommend buying one.

I’m Impressed
I’ve used a clay bread oven and a Lodge cast iron 2 in 1 Dutch oven. I found the clay didn’t cook the bottom of the bread as well as the top and sides. The Lodge is great, but doesn’t come in an oval shape, only round, and sometimes I want a batard shape. I just received this yesterday and had already prepared and refrigerated my sourdough. I baked it this morning and was very pleased. The crust was crisp all around, top to bottom, and the inside was was perfect. Probably one of the best loaves I’ve ever made. The enamel makes it very easy to clean and its DISHWASHER SAFE, which is something you can’t do with the clay or cast iron bakers. I would recommend making sure that you dry it thoroughly since it appears that the edges of the lid and pan aren’t enameled, so the cast iron is exposed and can rust. This was probably intentional on the part of the manufacturer because the enamel could chip more easily while taking the cover off and on, or by putting the hot lid on a cool surface. Since it’s much lighter than my cast iron Lodge 2 in 1 I will probably just handwash it, dry it really well and put it on the stove or in the oven for a few minutes to evaporate any moisture and then rub the edges with a little oil.
It was slightly smaller than the oval silicone mat I bought to lift the dough in and out of the baker, but I just cut it around the edges until it fit. All in all, very happy with this and happier that I didn’t need to purchase the $209 Loaf Nest to get a perfect loaf of sourdough. Can’t wait to try it on a French bread. Obviously, it’s too soon for me to rate the durability, but time will tell. I’m sure that, with proper care, it will last for years.

Well made, beautiful
Great for baking sourdough bread. The finished produce is a little wide for my toaster, and the handles are somewhat difficult to take hold of when wearing oven mitts. Not enough separation between the two handles. The included cast iron lifter for the lid takes a lot of wrist strength to lift the lid, but I haven’t felt the need to use it. Overall I’m happy with it, and use it frequentlu. Much preferred to the round DO I was formerly using.

Had a great first experience with this dutch oven.

This dutch oven is the perfect size for an 800g loaf (500g flour). It produces very good bread, well risen with a good crust.
It’s very heavy, good quality enamelled cast iron and the lid handle in my box doesn’t fit the lid but it’s not necessary anyway as long as you have good oven gloves.
I use a silicone bread sling to.make it easier to put the dough in and take the bread out.
It’s great and I reccomend it to all bread bakers!
