Does a great job
This can opener does a great job. It cuts the can (varying sizes) open along the top outside edge, which is neat.

Ok but not perfect.
I’ve always used a manual can opener, but it was time to replace the old one, so I decided to try electric. I love that it’s small and fits easily into a kitchen drawer, and I like that it runs on batteries so it’s never discharged when you need it, and you don’t have to be near an outlet to plug it in.I also like that it doesn’t leave a sharp edge on either the can or the lid, so if you’re prone to cutting yourself you don’t have to worry about that. However, it doesn’t work well on cans that are not the traditional round shape, or – at least in my limited experience – ones that are small, like cat-food cans. And, depending on the size of the can, the magnet doesn’t adhere to the top of the can, so it doesn’t lift the top off when it’s done. You do have to exert a certain amount of effort to remove the top.

ABSOLUTE GARBAGE!!!
I’M DISABLED!!! I HAVE LEFT-SIDE PARALYSIS!!!This can opener was used to successfully open one standard 16oz can of BUSH’S BEST Original Baked Beans! The second time I tried to use it to open another identical can, it got about half way around and the gears no longer gripped the can lip tight enough to continue! It just sat there grinding away with slipping gears and wouldn’t shut off on its own! THERE IS NO WAY TO COAX IT FARTHER ONCE IT STOPS WORKING PROPERLY! there is no way to cleanly finish opening the can by removing and placing the can opener at a different point on the lid! THIS WAS A TOTAL WASTE OF GOOD MONEY!!! DO NOT BUY IT!!! DO NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYBODY!!!$40 (with tax) to open one can??? ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME??? I HAD TO USE A PLIERS TO TEAR THE LID OFF BY GRABBING THE LID AT THE ALREADY CUT PLACES AND BENDING IT UP AND ROLLING IT BACK!!! YOU TRY AND DO THAT WITH ONLY ONE HAND!!!These UPDATES will be provided regularly for ONE FULL YEAR and end on Nov 10th 2024!UPDATE (Nov 10th, 2023): It’s not that the gear wasn’t gripping the lid tight enough to continue moving the can opener around the can; it’s that the internal gears driving the outside gear stripped!!! If they used cheap nylon gears instead of stainless steel involute gears with deep teeth to drive the outside gear, THEY’RE WRONG!UPDATE (Nov 15th, 2023): I received a free replacement from Amazon. It has been used successfully to open three cans. The 4th can I tried to open with it did not get cut fully through the metal all the way around the can even though the auto off feature activated and indicated it was finished cutting the can open. I had to lift the cut part and bend it up and down repeatedly to break the lid free on the remaining approximately one inch worth of uncut metal before it broke free.update (Dec 10th, 2023): I just received my Subscribe and save and another case of Bush’s Original Baked Beans. This can opener failed yet again to fully cut the lid 100% of the way around the top. It completed 360 degrees and stopped as it should, but I had to pry the lid back at the cu5t part and repeatedly bend it up and down at the remaining uncut part of the lid (only partially scored for about an inch) until the lid broke free. THAT’S TWO FAILURES IN A ROW AND TWO OUT OF FIVE CANS FOR A RESOUNDING AND INEXCUSABLE 40% FAILURE RATE! I standby my words. This can opener is ABSOLUTE GARBAGE!!!UPDATE (Dec 12th, 2023) – I just tried to open the 6th can with the replacement can opener I received from Amazon and it FAILED yet again to fully cut through the lid all the way around the top of the can which necessitated my having to pry the lid up at the cut part and repeatedly bend it at the scored part until it finally broke free. The first can opener I purchase cost me $37.99 + tax and only successfully opened one can before the internal gears stripped for a 100% failure rate of the product thereafter! The replacement was provided for free by Amazon. The replacement can opener successfully opened only three cans and failed to fully cut the lid off on cans 4, 5, and 6 for a resounding 50% failure rate in performance! I see no signs that there will be any improvement. The only signs I do see is that the Merchant doesn’t care about the customer and doesn’t care about improving the product, but DOES CARE to lower the price from $37.99 to $28.49 to maintain sales numbers in light of the negative reviews!I still stand by my opinion that this can opener is ABSOLUTE GARBAGE!!!I did however find another somewhat similar can opener for the disabled and it is sold by a company with a HIGH REPUTATION of providing GOOD QUALITY products!Their offered can opener for one-handed use DOES NOT REQUIRE BATTERIES!!!Their offered can opener for one-handed use costs even less than this POS at ONLY $26.99!!!The company I’m referring to is HAMILTON BEACH!!!Here’s their product link!https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002R0RPOA/?coliid=I2E6XD5RLTJD1T&colid=1XPWB0OYCRSZT&psc=1&ref_=_sed_dpThe limit on product videos per review is ONE! I had to remove my previous video showing the gears had stripped in order to upload this latest video showing the failure of the replacement can opener.I will never purchase anything from Kitchen Mama for the rest of my life! I suggest you do the same.

Ease of use once you get the trick of it
It takes a minute to get your touch just right. But once you do you can walk away from it. But every once in a while it keeps stopping. The other thing is I don’t understand why they even put a magnet on it. It has never worked out for me. But I don’t really care about that aspect of it. So far it has lasted 800% longer than the last POS that I wasted my money on. Hope you have as much luck with yours as I am having with mine.

Works great but! Lasted about 6 months before dying
This can opener is the bomb. It opens the cans cleanly and leaves a edge that won’t cut your fingers. Easier to recycle those cans using this too. Mine started going on and on around the cans even when the lids were clearly cut. The lids would be spinning under the opener and it was just buzzing away. It’s really pretty noisy but no more so than any electric opener. But when it won’t stop the noise becomes annoying. I had to physically pry the opener loose from the cans, often spilling valuable contents. I sent the maker 2 messages about their product but haven’t heard back yet. Today, after placing new batteries in the opener and attempting to open a can of dog food it slowly cut about a half inch and died. It no longer works at all. Call me skeptical and Stupid but I just ordered their updated model today.Update! 12/14/23. Kitchen Mama refunded me the full price for this opener. I’ve since changed batteries a third time and it is working again but still rotating multiple times. The KM staff showed me a diagram of this model that has a reset button on the side. Next time I open something I will update this review if that fixes it. I’m hopeful it will. The 2.0 opener I just bought works good but it has to be manually stopped after opening cans. I thought it was supposed to auto stop but mine doesn’t.

NO SHARP EDGES!
This solves wrist ache you get from opening 10 cans by hand when making a large batch of chili. Like my OXO hand can opener it leaves NO SHARP/DANGEROUS edges. ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT because it really works!

This has become my favorite kitchen gadget
When I first got this, I kept all the packaging as I was expecting to return it. The first time I used it, I thought it hadn’t worked as I saw no cut in the lid and it didn’t come off. When I picked up the can, the lid just popped off.You have to get used to how to use it, placing it properly at the rim of the can and tilting it slightly so the the cutter and gear engage (definitely does not work if the lid is dented) You also have to get used to the fact that it doesn’t cut into the top of the lid like a regular can opener, but rather around the rim. The biggest flaw in it is that the magnet that is supposed to lift the lid off is too small and weak, so to get the lid off you have to gently push up on the rim. Once you get this right, it really works well and is quite entertaining to watch.I was starting to have trouble with using a manual can opener. This does a great job and is easy to store in a drawer, instead of having to take up room on the counter.

Soddisfatta!

A great item to have in the kitchen. I was a little confused about how to get this to work at first and had to watch a YouTube video as it didnât seem as though it was opening the tin. Only to realise that it had worked and the tin was already open. (you may understand what I mean once you use this for the first time) it slices the lid straight off as opposed to indenting it like a usual tin opener would. Itâs an excellent gadget and saves on any hassle from your manual one.
