Way better than dealing with a 35 lb. dog food bag
I have two large, active dogs and each one eats twice a day so I go through a lot of dog food. A 35 lb. bag lasts a couple of weeks, tops. I got really sick of fighting with a giant bag of dog food. The food starts to get stale and the dogs start to get picky about eating it. The bag slumps over or, even worse, falls over and spills. It attracts bugs. You get the idea.I gambled on this thinking it would probably self-destruct the first time I poured 35 lbs. of kibble into it. I’m glad to say that I was wrong. As soon as I got it I washed it out to make sure there was no residue from the molding process that would give the food a strange odor or taste. After drying it I installed the wheels and poured a full bag of food into it. No problems at all.I’ve had this for almost 2 years now. It still seals tightly and I can’t tell you how many bags of food have gone through. The plastic has held up absolutely fine– not a crack anywhere, which surprises me because I’m not gentle with it when I dump the food in. I perch the bag on the top lip of the open container and use a utility knife to cut a flap into the bottom of it. The food dumps out in a couple of seconds and I don’t have to try to shake around to get it to empty out.The wheels roll around easily even with a full bag of food in it, which is nice because I have to move it around to sweep or mop. My only minor complaint is that the casters at the bottom are stem-mount and there’s not enough of a friction fit to keep them from falling out if you pick up the bin. But since I hardly ever to that, it’s not a problem.A bag of Kirkland dog food from Costco fills this bin with about an inch of room to spare, so if you’re tempted to buy a 50 lb. bag you won’t be able to dump the whole thing in. That’s not a problem for me, and this bin has made storing my dog food something that I don’t have to think about, which is exactly how it should be.

I am using this bin to store the wood pellets we use as kitty litter. I dumped in 3/4 of a 40lb bag and it is only about halfway full. The lid works great, it holds a lot and is nice and sturdy. Good buy!

Good, but with surmountable design defect.
It is hard to find affordable, large, portable flour storage containers that will seal well against entry of kitchen moths. These nice, convenient containers will do it at a reasonable price. But there’s a problem with the design. The hinge for the lid is entirely molded of plastic, and it is quite difficult to assemble so that the lid will latch tightly. It takes a lot of force. A person with strong and nimble hands can do it, and then the lid will operate as intended and latch securely with a good seal. The plastic hinge pin molded into the lid must be forced into two semi-circular plastic receiver sections molded into the storage bin. This is a cheap and common arrangement for hinges on plastic containers and always a weak spot. If you succeed in getting the pin to snap into place, which is difficult, the lid will them operate and seal properly. But this arrangement, like most other 100% plastic hinges, is subject to wear, distortion and fatigue failure. If you use this bin daily, do not expect to get more than a couple of years service before hinge failure. If only a metal pin and keeper had been provided in the hinge design, these bins would represent an outstanding value. Better to pay another buck and get the same thing with a metal pin hinge, if only such existed at anything like the price of these otherwise very good storage bins. They hold 50lbs of flour and are easy to roll around on a smooth floor.

Bought this to hold a 50lb bag of rice from Sam’s. The whole thing fit, with about 6 inches leftover on the top. We keep it in our dining room and never smell rice unless we open the lid, so it’s a pretty airtight container. Would probably buy another one of these if I needed more dry-food storage.

Iâve heard recently that itâs not good to store dry food in plastic, and this bin is the perfect size to drop a 33 lbs. bag of food in. We just drop it in and cut the top off the bag. The scoop is nice, but we use a measuring cup. The wheels are a little cheap, but they work fine. We just slide the container out about 8 inches to scoop and slide it back to its home. The bin looks much better in our kitchen than a bag sitting on the floor.
