    Amazingly simple! Simply Amazing!
Bought my Instant Pot Duo Crisp Ultimate here in “Used – Good Condition” fulfilled by Amazon. The thing arrived in perfect shape with all original literature. After doing a quick pressure test with 2 cups of water (just to make sure it seals), I was ready for my first cook. I had to go for the picture on the box: A whole chicken with veggies!I’ve never used a pressure cooker in my life and it was SO EASY. Seasoned the chicken, tossed in the veggies and 2 cups of water. Pressure cooked for 20 minutes. Then air fried for 20 more minutes to get the skin nice and crisp. The attached picture speaks for itself. Plus – tasty chicken broth as a wonderful by-product for another recipe in the future!Second dish I cooked was much simpler: plain jasmine rice. I rinsed the rice then added it to the pot with water at a 1:1 ratio, then set the pressure cooker for 3 minutes with 10 minutes of natural steam release. It came out perfect. The third dish I cooked was homemade split pea soup. Chopped ham steak, sliced sausage, chicken broth (used the stock from the whole chicken I had previously cooked), a slice of bacon, veggies/garlic, and a pound of split peas. My wife was so impressed she is now convinced this this appliance is magic. All of these things were so easy to do with this awesome appliance. Literally the press of a button or two and the turn of a knob to set the time.I am by no means an expert in the kitchen. Fortunately, Instant Pot is such a household name these days that you can find recipes for all sorts of dishes all over the internet, in magazines, and even in books. Cooking a meal has become fast, simple, and delicious around our household! And I feel so proud of the meals I’ve been able to easily make with this thing.I can’t wait to make my own yogurt, homemade jerky, and take a stab at sous vide. I still love our 40 year old Crock-Pot… But I wonder if the slow cooker setting will produce results so good that I end up putting the old hand-me-down in storage! This may legitimately be the ultimate appliance for saving counter space.*Update* I have made my own jerky from round roast using an inexpensive dehydrator rack I found on Amazon. At 140 degrees for 5hrs, it turned out so perfect.I also have made homemade yogurt with it. Some complain that this model does not allow you to bypass the pasteurize cycle of the process, but in my opinion that’s a good thing because it will kill any contamination in the pot before the fermentation begins. Greek yogurt is almost completely fool proof with this thing! We are now saving a TON of money on yogurt in our house and our homemade yogurt tastes much better than the expensive name brand yogurt at the supermarket!Instant Pot… Where have you been all my life?!?

Received It Filthy & It Only Got Worse From There
I was excited to try the Instant Pot Duo Crisp, but my experience was nothing short of a disaster.First off, when I opened the box, the unit was covered in grease and oil and smelled like old food. It was disgusting. I’m convinced I was sent a renewed or returned model, but even if that were the case, the lack of sanitation was unacceptable. Still, I decided to give it a chance.I started by making rice, something simple. I put the rice in, attached the pressure cooking lid, and let it do its thing. It should have taken 10 minutes, but after 30 minutes, the unit hadn’t even reached pressure. That was extremely unusual, considering I’ve been using pressure cookers for five years. I figured maybe this model just worked differently, so I decided to cancel the cook and release the pressure manually. That’s when things got worse. The pressure release didn’t work at all the lid was completely stuck shut, and I couldn’t open it for hours. My food was trapped inside while I was hungry and frustrated. When I was finally able to open it, my rice was burnt to a crisp, which was even more upsetting given the cost of groceries these days.I read through the manual again and researched the issue, only to find out that this is a known problem with this model. Many others have had the same issue, yet they’re still selling these units new and used. If this hasn’t happened to you yet, it will eventually.Just to be sure, I ran three more tests with just water, and all three times, the lid got stuck, and I couldn’t release the pressure. At that point, I was done. I returned it instead of exchanging it because I didn’t want to take the risk of this happening again down the line.I originally bought this to replace my Ninja Foodi 2-in-1 air fryer/pressure cooker, but after this experience, I appreciate my Ninja even more. When I do upgrade again, it will not be with Instant Pot.Come to your own conclusions, but I wouldn’t recommend this product to anyone.

This pot is a little different than older models…
I really like this Instant Pot. It’s a little different than older models so therev is some relearning to do. Two things to be aware of One This pot cooks alot better than older models For instance baby carrots took 4 minutes in my old pot. This pot the carrots are mushy after 2 minutes under pressure.. Two You have to use at least 2 cups of water every time. Again for instance in my old pot I could cook cabbage with only 1/2 cup of water. In this pot I tried this and ended up with burnt cabbage and it never reached pressure. Food is expensive these days and I hope this post saves you in throwing out food because of over cooking

First time trying an Instant Pot and quickly discovered something is faulty with it. Trying to use the pressure cook feature the first time with rice the cycle stayed stuck on preheat while steam poured out the top . Than had C7 error. Contacted customer service to which they wanted video proof of what it was doing and had me do a test on it. The video clearly shows it is not working correctly but no one has responded to me since I sent the videos in which was last week. I have sent another inquiry but have heard nothing back. I was so excited to finally have my first instant pot only to be very disappointed.

With counter-space at a premium in my kitchen I replaced my InstaPot with this dual device and I’ve been very pleased with both the air fryer and pressure cooker performance.Takes up less space than just the InstaPot did, which is important for us.A couple of minor quibbles: The old InstaPot, allowed some functions with the lid open and a glass cover (slow cooker, proofing dough). This one requires the lid to be closed for everything (except saute) so you can’t see inside. This is frustrating for me, and not sure why it’s needed.Pleasantly surprised with the functionality of the air fryer – works great.
