You are supposed to condition your wooden cutting board, plates, and utensils to prevent warping; provide a water seal to decrease bacterial growth; prevent staining; and to prevent odors from bacterial growth..I use this product for all my cutting boards, a butcherâs block, wooden spoons, wooden plates, and other wood products in the kitchen..The product has hardly any odor. Itâs not sticky and wood readily absorbs the product. I recommend applying multiple thin coats with buffing and drying in between. Use a clothe to buff and dry. Do not use paper towels. They will create a mess.Product has the consistency of shampoo. Easy to apply and rub in. Spills can be quickly wiped off, but the product will stain, so take care..No irritation on skin and washes off easily with just soap from your hands.

After reviewing cutting board oils they all appeared the same however this one suggested using an mineral oil product before finalizing with this conditioner. This was was the deciding factor for a complete systems to prep and maintain my cutting board. Your hands just get oily so do everything at once. It rinses off really well also.

Excellent for Cutting Boards
After years of using cheap knives and cutting boards I finally purchased some Zwilling knives and a nice, large cutting board. I figured I’d better use something on the board and I initially found this product at Home Depot after a recommendation from an employee there. She recommend the one with bees wax, not just mineral oil. Evidently, bacteria can’t form on mineral oil and the bees wax makes it more resilient and disperses liquids better. I reapply it every month or so, especially after heavy use. Seems to take out the roughness of the wood, and an added benefit it that it makes the wood shine and look a lot better too. Highly recommend!

I have a butcher block countertop that was very dry. I applied 4 coats of this as recommended per the instructions and it looks brand new. It soaked up easily, the instructions were clear and it does not have any smells or taste. The size is large and will last me a very long time.

Added three coats of this conditioner to my new end-grain cutting board, waiting 6 to 8 hours between coats to absorb and buff. Nice consistency, easy to apply, waxes helped to seal in mineral oil with no bleeding afterwards. Really brought out the grain in the walnut and cherry. Howard makes good products, highly recommended.

I’ve been buying this product for a while now. I like how easy it is to use and how quick it is to apply. I use it not only on my butchers block but also on my wooden vanity unit in the bathroom, as well as my over the sink chopping board. It may be more expensive than other brands, but a bottle lasts a long time, so it is value for money as a little goes a long way. You do have to reapply every so often, and I usually apply it at least twice a year to keep the wood conditioned.
