Best Knives I Have Ever Owned!
I absolutely love this knife! So much so, that I also bought the bread knife. The handle feels good in my hand and the blade is super sharp. The only problem I have is that these old arthritic hands get tired and hurt after using my utility knife for a while. And this is heartbreaking for me when I am doing a lot of cutting during canning season. I do not have need of a huge set of knives when I only use a few of them regularly. I highly recommend this brand to anyone who is looking for a good quality knife for the kitchen. Now, I am off to see if I can find the only other one I really need and that is a paring knife. Bought the 5 knife set 2 years ago. I really like these knives. They seem to hold their edge really well. The first thing I did when received was put a coat of stain (to match our kitchen cabinets) and 3 layers of polyurethane on the wooden handles. Also, immediately made a house rule that they are hand wash ONLY under threat of death (no dishwasher). I will say that the Damascus pattern is barely visible on my knives unlike in the sales photos. But they seem to be well made knives. Very happy with purchase.

Real Damascus, Sharp Out The Box
I was curious if this was really Damascus steel and not laser etched so I did a bunch or research on this knife, the Hezhen brand, and other Chinese Damascus knife makers. This is real Damascus steel that is wrapped around a steel core.Overall, itâs a good knife, sharp out the box. The knife felt good and balanced. The Damascus pattern was attractive but I would like it if it was darker etched. After determining that it was a good quality knife, I returned it and decided to get a knife block set from Hezhen.

Great except for one issue
The knife is very well made and super sharp which is why I have a criticism: There is no plastic edge protection sleeve. Although I have a wooden knife holder, it would be nice to have a little protection for the blade.

Not just a pretty knife
This knife is actually pretty nice. Very sharp out of the box. At this price I’d start to expect attention to detail and craftsmanship. This one delivers. The transition from wood to steel is very smooth, no rough edges or gaps. Size is nicely balanced. Fairly thin blade cuts well and functional for most prep work. Handle was moderately figured wood, but still nice. In all, money well spent.

Before buying this knife I read some of the comments. It is an exceptional knife. I am a professional woodworker with over 30 years experience in fine woodworking. I pride myself on having very sharp chisels and plane blades. After using this knife, I think I need to go back to sharpening school. It is sharp. REALLY sharp. Some negative comments were on the handle and the lack of a finish. The handle has a satin finish. You do not want a gloss handle on a blade like this – it would be dangerous if your hand slipped in use – easy to do if your hand is at all wet. The transition from handle to blade is perfectly smooth. Very well done. There are plastic guards on the tip of the blade and also on the choil. I placed these back after cleaning the knife and storing it. Some commented that they did not like the balance of the knife. It is perfectly balanced. Without any doubt this is the best knife I have ever owned. I have already recommended it to others.
