Best Wok Spatula I Have Ever Used. Ever.
I have been looking for a decent wok spatula/tool for some time now without success. I don’t like plastics/silicon for various reasons mostly for the same reason I won’t use Teflon-coated pans; eventually it wears off and ends up in the food. I can’t imagine plastic being a good dietary supplement for anyone who is not a cyborg from a hundred years in the future… and maybe not even then.I like stainless steel spatulas for flat surfaces and those work fine for my Lodge cast-iron pans and griddle, but they are not optimal for the curved surface of a traditional round-bottomed wok. The wok I use most is a Lodge 13″ cast-iron model. I polished it with power tools when I got it (I know… sacrilege!) and then took it out to my camp-fire where I built up a hot fire and seasoned it. This is the only way to season a wok properly as a stove simply will not get the wok hot enough all the way up the sides to season the whole wok. Once this was done the trouble starts; metal spatulas, even curved ones, will slowly start removing the seasoning so you end up with a shiny silver ring between the bottom of the wok and the top edge. This bamboo implement doesn’t do that. It is light-weight, durable and well-designed. The only thing it does need is a bit of sanding as the surface is a little rough, but that is easily accomplished. The side edges of the tool are curved up a bit, so after the food is done, it makes a very effective serving spoon for things like “Eggs Ala Raby” (basically scrambled eggs, ham & cheese stir fried together in the wok).I’ve never heard of Helen Chen before, but 谢谢, Chef Chen… you got a winner!

Great for a small Wok
I live alone and like to use my Wok. The regular paddles are too big for my Wok. This one is just the right size to sauté and flip my food.

Rough with splinters. Poor quality.
When it arrived it was broken. But I understand that things happen in shipping. The finish on this spatula was horrible. I got splinters just taking it out of the package. It was rough with little splinters all over it. (See pics) even if it werenât broken I would still have returned it.

Love Bamboo utensiles!
I have bamboo spoons, spatulas and rice paddles. These wok tools are a welcome addition. Bamboo is so durable that I prefer it over any softer wood. It’s also renewable. What’s not to love?

Curved Sides
I was excited to try this spatula. The handle is the perfect size and length and feels comfortable in my hand. The one I received is not well made us some reviews. But I was a bit surprised when I realized it was not flat. The blade also has a spoon-like curve, which makes it not ideal for flipping pancakes or omelets. Itâs better suited for scrambling eggs.

Very pleased!
This fry spatula is just what we needed to go with the new wok we ordered because it is slightly curved on the bottom. Very well made and easy to use and to clean.

Tilted and great for use with wok
I love that it is bamboo and not plastic, tilted which works well with wok and can hold up a little bit of sauce when I need to prepare Asian dishes. Better than anything I can buy from Asian markets!

It’s made well enough but I find that this spatula just doesn’t work particularly well in a wok. It takes too much effort to slide it under the food to turn. I think it might be a bit too straight.

good quality built

The finish is lovely and smooth, but if you are looking for a wide spatula, as I was, this just won’t work. Plus, a spatula should be flat, allowing you to easily flip a burger, fish, etc. This is good for stirring only.

I bought this spatula to use with my wok so it would not ruin the seasoning. It works ok but the âshovelâ part does not have the thinness of a steel spatula.
