Great storage container!
I make gluten free artisan bread, which has a crust worthy of a chain saw. I was delighted to see this Hamilton Beach Electric Knife Set teach my bread a thing or two about unity. I hit the trigger and set it on the bread, and before you know it, my counter is in two pieces (use a cutting board). My son insisted it was so much faster and less wasteful to use an electric knife for filleting fish, so I tried it. He’s right! I get two fish worth of meat for each fish I clean! And can I blather about that container? It has a slot for each of the two blades, an area for the motor housing, and they even created room for the cord. This means if my family remembers to take the step to put it back in the container, I will be able to find the blades when I make my bread!

great for meats, not so much for vegetables
I bought this Hamilton Beach electric knife because I broke my right wrist and could not use that hand to stabilize the foods I was cutting. It cuts meats very well, even without stabilizing the meat with the meat fork (which is included.) Not so for vegetables — I sawed on a head of cabbage for a good 10 minutes before I realized it wasn’t my technique — it just was not working! And that was even with someone holding the cabbage head still, which was not the way I wanted to use it anyway. The motor does feel hot after I’ve been using it for four or five minutes, so I take a break while it cools down. The way the knife is designed, you can put it on the counter & the blade will remain up in the air so that it doesn’t scratch or damage countertops. That also keeps the blade clean while I’m taking my break. I really like the little storage case, which keeps all the parts and pieces together, and I also like that you can put the blades in the dishwasher. I’d like it better if it cut vegetables too, but just for meat it is still definitely worth the money!

The price was right
The price was great- and they worked like a charm. Nothing fancy about it, it was sharp, held a charge and was easy to use- while being light weight.

after 20 years my old hamilton beach knife gave out … i immediatly purchased another one
After 20 years or so of use, my original hamilton beach carving knife gave out, after I dropped the knife on the floor. And since I had gotten so many years of good use out of the knife and since the knife always gave me the results I wanted from an electric knife, I immediately purchased a new hamilton beach to replace the old one.To my eye, the old knife and the new knife are remarkably identical in shape and functionality. The carved piece at the front bottom of the knife is slightly longer on the new model but that’s about all I can see that is outwardly different. The case that comes with the new knife is far more modest than the old knife being that the old knife case was slightly large, was lined more nicely and had better compartments to hold the blades and the fork, but that modified design isn’t a major concern for me.The knife size, shape, grip, ease of use (etc.) is all as good with the new knife as with my trusty 20-year old model. For the price, this is a nice version of an electric carving knife.

Primary use for us is cutting fresh bread, and it is stellar! Finally, I can cut straight, consistent slices, easily. I do wish the handle was angled up, instead of flat, so I could use it in the middle of my counter instead of having to cut from the edge, but that’s less of a fault than a small inconvenience. Where the rubber hits the road, it cuts great!
