My toast is well…TOAST
I bought the Hamilton Beach 2 Slice Extra Wide Slot Toaster thinking, “It’s a toaster. It toasts. How exciting can this get?” Oh, how wrong I was. This toaster has changed my mornings in ways I never thought possible.
First off, the Extra Wide Slots. You want to toast a bagel? Done. A Texas-sized slice of sourdough? No problem. Leftover pancakes you’re pretending are bread? Toast away, my friend. This toaster doesn’t judge your carbohydrate choices; it welcomes them with open slots.
Next, the Bagel Setting. I don’t know what dark sorcery Hamilton Beach conjured, but this setting makes bagels toastier on the cut side while leaving the outer crust soft and chewable. It’s like it understands bagels on a spiritual level.
Then there’s the Toast Boost. Picture this: you’re groggily waiting for your toast, and BAM, it launches your bread high enough to land directly into your hand. No more fishing around for burnt fingertips. It’s a culinary catapult, and I’m here for it.
The Shade Selector? A game-changer. You can go from “lightly warmed bread” to “crispy perfection” with the twist of a dial. Personally, I live on a steady diet of setting #4, but it’s nice to know there’s a #6 for when life gets wild.
And let’s not overlook the Auto Shutoff. My past toasters were ticking time bombs, but this one is like a responsible parent that says, “You’ve had enough excitement for one morning.”
The only downside? I now have a habit of toasting things I probably shouldn’t. Marshmallows, cold pizza, even a Pop-Tart that technically didn’t need toasting—it’s a slippery slope when you own a toaster this good.
If this toaster were a person, it’d be the overachiever in your friend group—always showing up on time, looking sharp, and making everyone else feel inadequate. 10/10, would toast again.

Does what it’s supposed to
After looking at far too many toasters to replace my old one which had finally kicked the bucket, I settled on this because of the reviews and the price. I didn’t want to spend and arm and a leg, but also wanted a good toaster with slots wide enough for bagels. I’ve used it about 3-4 times a week for a month now, and get this….it toasts the bread! A few things of note:
1. I recommend running it through a cycle before toasting anything because there’s a noxious smell that comes out the first time you use it. I haven’t smelled it since then though which is good.
2. The attached pictures are from the first pieces of bread that I toasted on a setting of 4. As you can see, the top started to burn while the bottoms are barely toasted, so I had to pop it up before the cycle was over. I now use it at about a 3 and haven’t had any burnt tops, but I also still pop it up before the cycle’s over (mainly because I have a VERY sensitive fire alarm).
3. Don’t expect uniformly toasted bread, but it’s nice and crispy all over, and gets the job done.
4. You have to cycle through twice to even get it brown. I’ve not tried anything over a 4, but it will always pop up prematurely without even being browned. Simple solution: simply push the knob back down and it will cook on this second try. This isn’t a big deal for me because my last toaster did the same thing.
5. The bagel function works exactly as it should by toasting only one side, and leaving the other nice and soft. I will say the downside is that it sometimes takes three cycles to get it actually toasted, but I don’t mind because I flip it each time for an even toasting.

It is a 2 slice toaster. It does have wide slots that fits bagels or even texas toast quite well.
It does toast things with electric heat elements.
It won’t bring you joy or fulfillment, thats what bread and butter are for.
