Decent low cost kitchen knife
This is a Japanese-style made in China gyuto. It says itâs made with Japanese AUS-8 steel, but most likely itâs one of its Chinese equivalents: 8Cr13MoV or 8Cr14MoV, which are decent enough steels for the purpose, if they were heat treated properly. These are stainless steels, but unlike the typical Euro stainless steels, will stain or even rust, if they are not washed and dried promptly. No dishhwasher, the nice tropical hardwood wonât survive that either. It is really well designed, executed and very nice looking. The hammered finish is decorative, it has little to do with food release. The blade is ground slightly convex, which is more inportant for food release. The blade isnât very thin, so it will wedge a little, but also it is not very thick either. The biggest surprise is that it is really well balanced. It is slightly blade heavy, as it should be for this style, but the balance point is just 1 inch in fornt of the heel, so it feels close to neutral in a pinch grip. The back of the knife and the choil are a little sharp, but can be easily rounded a bit with sandpaper for a more comfortable pinch grip. For a 20-25 $ knife, it is an excellent value, but donât expect the performance and edge holding of a 100-200$ authentic Japanese knife. It is definitely better than most of the 30-70$ typical chefâs knives you can buy in big box stores or even online.I highly recommend it at this price point, but wouldnât buy it if it cost more than $30.Despite a review extolling its virtue as a good day-to-day tool in a professional kitchen, it is not optimal for the huge demand and potential abuse in a busy pro environment. This is a knife for a home cook. It has excellent esthetics and decent enough performance.I highly recommend it at this price point.

Perfect knife to start kitchen knife collection
A safe knife is a sharp knife and this checks the box for sure. Easy to use and comes in a nice box for storage. Has a comfortable grip and the handle size is ideal. Havenât noticed any rust but as long as you follow the instructions it comes with no problem.

Sharp & Heavy
Ordered this knife on a hunch as I forgot mine while working remotely for a month. This thing is sharp and heavy. It’s been my daily driver for a week now and the edge is holding up great. I expect this knife to last me a while and it’ll be a great addition to my collection when I return home.

Great little knife
This is a great little folding cooking knife. Not the fanciest steel out there, but it takes a good edge and is very sharp. Used it for cooking on my last outing and was very pleased with its performance. At this price point, itâs a no brainer. Buy it if you need this type of a knife.

Awesome Knife!
This product exceeded expectations. With the price being so low, I did not expect much. This knife is great in appearance, feels good in your hand, and very sharp. I’ve only used it a few times, but it cuts amazing…from tomatoes to steaks. We’ll see how it holds up, but it looks and feels very sturdy.

Awesome!
My fiancé is a cook and he had been wanting a new knife. I didnât have a big budget but his birthday is coming up and I took 3 days deciding on which knife to buy, for the price point this knife is really well made and sharp! Not the sharpest knife Iâve ever used but I also work in kitchenâs occasionally. nothing a little whetstone canât help! If your on the fence, itâs a great choice!

I wanted to like this knife
This knife looks great. The handle is comfortable, the knife is balanced, and overall feels well built, but that’s where the positives end. Out of the box, this knife was not very sharp. After significant sharpening, the edge itself feels good, but the blade is far too thick (which also makes it very heavy) to where you’re needing significant pressure to cut through anything. The top of the blade has harsh edges to where it hurts your hand if you’re using a proper grip/pinching the blade. It works fairly well for chopping fruits and vegetables, but isn’t worth it to use on meats. I would recommend a Mercer instead or if you can afford a $50 knife, getting a Victorinox.

The knife is well-balanced and has a very keen edge. The handle is very comfortable in the hand. A useful addition to my kitchen knives.

Good quality and sharp but for me it was bigger size to use as an utility knife otherwise o.k.

Very pleased with this addition to our kitchen equipment. The weight and quality of the blade makes short work of cutting up even hard vegetables and fruit. We do not eat meat so unable to comment on that.

Pros: Weighty, sturdy knife which looks great and does its job. I imagine edge retention will be totally fine for a home cook. Wouldnât use professionally. But, for the price itâs a great buy. Just keep an eye on the price because it jumps around and I page £5 more than if Iâd waited 1 week.Cons: Itâs a very thick blade. Some love this, some hate this. Itâs one of the reasons you should try to have many different knives and why you see chefâs have several different of the same styles of knives.
