A well made pan – but will it last?
At this point in my life I have purchased more non-stick pans than I can shake a stick at. Within the last couple of years I have purchased granite pans made by Kolex. While they held up well to scratching, the non-stick only lasted about 8 to 10 months with almost daily use. So this time around, and based on some testing by the creator of a You Tube channel called “Project Farm”, I have decided to give the Green Pan a try.I have only used this pan a couple of times and it has performed very well so far. It has one of the best non-stick surfaces of any pan I have ever tried. It is a solid well made pan with good weight and nice balance. It also came completely assembled. The handle is securely attached and does not get hot when in use. Time will tell when it comes to durability, but what I have seen so far I like.Buying a Green Pan is somewhat of an experiment for me since I normally do not spend this much for a frying pan. And at this point I cannot really recommend it since I don’t know if spending the extra money will be worth it in the long run. Time will tell and I will update my review either when this pan starts to stop being non-stick or has lasted longer than any other pan I have tried….we will see !!WHY THE GREEN PANBack in the day Teflon was king, but as most people know they eventually start to flake and those flakes can be poisonous. So starting about 10 years ago I made a concerted effort to get pans that were PFOA/PFAS free. However, finding one that is safe but also lasts a long time is not an easy task and contrary to popular belief, and what manufactures will tell you, there are no non-stick pans that last forever…period…end of story. Which is why I normally do not spend this much for a frying pan – they simply do not last. If you want a pan that lasts forever, buy stainless steel or cast iron. The best I have gotten from a non-stick pan has been about a year. Now that is using the pan 4-5 times a week, so take that for what it’s worth. The reason I choose this pan is based on the testing of Project Farm mentioned earlier. He designs very unique tests to determine if a product holds up to the manufacturer’s claims and how well it does against the competition…great channel and one I highly recommend. While the Green Pan was not the best in every category, it scored the highest in the durability test where a hardness test kit was used to measure the durability of the surface of all the test pans. The Green Pan was the only one to reach level 6…very impressive.Based on my experience, the hardness of the surface makes a huge difference in how long a non-stick pan will last. Some of the pans tested did a little better on some of the non-stick tests, but were very easily scratched. Even though I use mostly wooden or plastic utensils, if a pan’s surface is too soft even wood can scratch it. Meaning it will start to flake at some point and even though it might not be toxic, I do not want that in my food. Plus, if the non-stick surface of the pan breaks down, logic dictates food will start to stick.I also took into consideration how I use the pan. While I do use it often for things like making bacon and frying eggs, I also do a lot of stir fry type meals where you would use a wooden spoon to mix and stir the contents, making considerable contact with the non-stick surface. In the last case the hardness of the pan is a key factor versus things like; evenness of heat (difference between hottest and coolest part of pan), and thermal efficiency (how quickly it heats up), which do not really factor in.So my decision to buy the Green Pan, and spend more than I normally do, is based mainly on the durability factor…for me that just makes sense – for you it might not !!

Great pan
These pans are excellent. Food sticks less than Teflon. Durable, cooks well and easy to clean and non toxic.

Great pan, but lasts about a year
This is my third ceramic pan from green pan. With proper care, no olive oil, and no dishwasher, the ceramic non stick will last about a year. Canât find a pan that lasts longer. This feels like a terrible waste, but I give my old pans to kids to play with in their mud kitchens.

Really is non-stick
This pan really is non-stick, much more so than the teflon-type pans that I replaced. Admittedly the pans I replaced were getting older and perhaps the non-stick qualities had seen better days, but this pan is in a completely different league. Although the pan’s directions state that it heats up faster and at lower temperatures than its counterparts, I don’t really find that to be the case (using a natural gas cooktop), but that’s not really a detractor once you get used to it. Cleaning is very easy even when the pan has cooled completely (I wouldn’t recommend ever putting the pan in water when it’s still hot to avoid warping). I would definitely recommend this pan.

Pan scratched with no support from GreenPan
Dear Sir or Madam,I am writing regarding my 12″ GreenPan purchased from Amazon on April 16th, 2024 (receipt attached). I specifically chose GreenPan based on your excellent reputation, ceramic coating technology, safety features, and comprehensive warranty coverage.Since purchase, we have been extremely satisfied with the entire GreenPan set and have followed the recommended care instructions diligently, primarily using silicone and wooden utensils. The scratch-resistant surface has performed admirably, even with occasional metal utensil contact. However, during routine cooking this week, while using a metal spatula with normal pressure, the pan unexpectedly developed a scratch. This damage was only discovered during washing, and I was particularly surprised given the gentle cooking method used and your product’s marketed durability.Given my consistent adherence to proper care guidelines and satisfaction with your brand, I kindly request a replacement under warranty. I commit to exclusively using non-metal utensils with the replacement pan to ensure its longevity.I’ve attached clear photos of the damage and my original purchase receipt for your reference. Your prompt attention to this matter would be greatly appreciated and would reinforce my confidence in GreenPan’s commitment to customer satisfaction.—————————————————————————–Laura Zerello (GreenPan)Dec 27, 2024, 13:47 GMT+1Hello,Thank you for contacting The Cookware Company. We are very sorry to hear that you are having any issues with your cookware.Based on our review, this would not be considered a manufacturing defect but normal wear and tear due to usage.Any imperfections, such as chipping, are considered a reflection of the hardness of Ceramic coatings and not having to rely on chemicals for adhesion. As the product remains perfectly safe for use if it chips, it does not require a replacement. In fact, the hardness of the coating is one of its strengths because it will be less prone to scratching during daily use.The great thing is that our products do not contain any PTFE or other PFAS, and they are free of Lead and Cadmium. If chipping is present along the rim, it is recommended to use pan protectors. We take great care in reviewing all warranty claims. We have experts who can easily determine whether a manufacturing defect is present. I would like to assure you that your product is perfectly safe for use.——————————————————————————————I must say that I am not satisfied with your response and deeply disappointed. I expected your company would stand behind your product.I do not know if the issue with my pan is a manufacturing defect or not â nor do you. What I do know is that I used the pan according youâre your usage instructions and the pan is scratched. Perhaps your instructions should say that metal utensils are not recommended, but they do not. So, under your recommended usage, the pan did not hold up. Based on your warranty, this pan is intended to last a lifetime. Clearly (at least), mine was not up to the task.I will likely throw this pan away as I do not want the scratch to result in pan material to end up in my food. I will also post this correspondence on Amazon reflecting my poor experience and your lack of support for your product.

I love this thing
I wouldnât have thought Iâd actually feel enthusiastic about a pan. But this thing is really nice. And I mean, these are Paul Hollywood approved, they use these on Bake-off. The nonstickness of this pan is so good, it heats up quick, it feels substantial and well made but itâs light in the hand, and because it really is super non stick, itâs really easy to clean to looking like new because it just wipes right out. This pan feels high quality, is a good price, performs well, and cleans easily so this pan is worth sounding corny for.

Very Well Made
I use it for cooking eggs. I use olive oil and low heat. Everything comes out perfect.. no sticking whatsoever. This is an excellent pan.

If youâre anything like meâsomeone who considers burning water a kitchen mishapâyouâll understand why discovering this non-stick pan felt like striking culinary gold! I’ve tossed everything at it, from eggs aspiring to be omelets to fish fillets hoping for a crisp fate, and not once has this champion of cookware let me down. There’s a running joke in my house that this pan is almost too non-stick; food practically levitates above its surface! Seriously, I could have probably upgraded to this superhero skillet years ago and saved countless meals. Its non-stick prowess means that cleaning is a breeze too. You could probably get away with a stern look, but a gentle swipe with a cloth does the trick! The handle is sturdy, reassuringly attached, and hasnât given up on me yetâa miracle given that I swing it around like a kitchen wand. In conclusion, this pan is my new kitchen hero. Itâs survived everything Iâve cooked and even some things I shouldnât have tried. Five stars because I canât give it six!

UPDATE: this pan lasted a few short months of light use before it lost its non-stick properties. I only washed it with a soft sponge after it cooled, no metal utensils, no dishwasher, no heat higher than medium low. This was very disappointing and now it’s in the trash because you can’t recycle these things. I guess cast iron is the real green option. So far this pan is fantastically non-stick. Both eggs and frozen perogies just slid around while cooking. There is a bit of false advertising about it though, which the leaflet that comes with the actual pan corrects. As I expected before I bought it, you can’t actually use metal utensils and make sure it isn’t used above medium heat or washed in the dishwasher. All of this would degrade the non stick properties. I decided not to remove a star because it’s really just because of a bad marketing team and not a fault of the pan itself. I didn’t need to go above medium heat anyways, in fact I could have gone lower heat with the peogies to allow them to cook all the way through without burning. I had to finish those in the microwave.I really hope this pan lasts, and will update this review if it looses its non stick properties despite proper care.
