It’s exactly what they say it is
I’ve used Granite Ware for decades but this is the first of their heavy duty line I’ve ever had and it is exactly that, heavy duty. You can feel the heft and rigidity of it compared to the standard line, and the enamel is very noticeably thicker and sturdier (a tiny quibble is that I wish the white speckles were bigger to match the standard line, but that might just be my individual piece). The stainless steel rim rings on both the lid and pot take the sturdiness to the next level.I’ve only used it once, but it was to make a full pot of turkey bone broth from a Thanksgiving carcass I had in the freezer. That involved bringing the entire filled pot to a boil, which it did quickly, then holding a low simmer for about 10 hours, which it did with complete consistency and evenness across the entire diameter of the pot.I’m an old guy and that one use took the piece through enough that I could literally see and feel the performance quality to know that when I make stew or chili in it, it’ll sear the meat properly because the bottom (as well as the walls on all sides) are thick enough.I won’t say it’ll perform as well as my French enameled cast iron for searing or for the durability of the enamel (time will tell on the latter), but it’ll keep up with the rest of anything you’d use a Dutch oven for at about 1/10th the price, and look pretty good doing it, too.

Lightweight Dutch Oven
I have been wanting to get a large Dutch oven for a very long time but every time I lifted one up in a store, the weight of the cast iron was a deterrent. This item is big but light, holds a large quantity of food, heats well, & cleans up nicely. I have had a turkey pan in this type enamel for more than 20 years & it performs like a champ, so I took a chance on this and it paid off! Highly recommend.

great for tamales
I needed a new tamale pot as my other was getting old and rusty. I bought a couple of others and although they had a large capacity the disk would collapse. With this type pot you never have to worry about that. Also, one of the rare pots of this type that can be used on an electric glass cooktop.Very happy with it. It is not just for tamales but anything that requires steaming.

A lot smaller than imagined.
I guess the pot will work, but plan on buying a lot smaller lobsters or plan to steam them one at a time. Why does no one still carry the two tier enamel steamer that will do half a dozen 2 pound lobsters or a half bushel of crabs? If they are not being made, some one needs to open a factory…I know a dozen people that have been looking for one, and that’s in just my small town area.

You get What you pay for
I should have known the quality of this product would not be of the same standard as the one I needed to replace at this price. But, that being said, it will function for what I need. There are so few LARGE dutch ovens that can be used both in the oven and on the stove top. I was getting frustrated just looking for one that compared to what I had to retire. Hopefully this one will last several years. It cooked a chicken on the stove top. I will try a roast in the oven.

Manufacturer’s Defects
I have ordered this pot twice. My last order was from Amazon. The top didn’t fit the pot at all. I contacted the company at first there was no response but they did finally respond after I returned the stock pot.The first pot I received (from Target). The metal edging on the top rim was sticking out from the enamel creating a gap in such you can cut your fingers; however, the top fitted perfectly but the pot was defective.I would say that this would be a good pot if you can find one without defects.

I’ve used it twice so far, to make bread and to make braised short ribs. Both came out fantastic. Highly recommend and great value for the money.
Fake Name –
Lid does not fit correctly. Can’t do a full 360 in place without riding up over the side or locking and scrapping to a stop. Either lid or pot or likely both are oddly shaped and design tolerance is not great enough to compensate. They could increase design tolerance for this flaw by using a wider lip so the lid could rotate more freely.I really want to like this product and in proper condition it’s probably great. Sadly this one is a defect.I could use this cold as a food storage canister but it would irritate me cooking hot in the kitchen always trying to get the lid on at the exact right angle to make it fit and potentially risking burning myself or the food in the time wasted and frustrated by this. This is a defect and should only be sold with notice of defects and discount to the buyer. I mean sure it’s better than not having something to cook in but it’s also defective compared to what you should expect.Have contacted manufacturer on their website and on Amazon, no response so far, disappointing.May have to ask Amazon for satisfaction.

Seems good, time will tell I guess. No significant defects, just a tiny scratch in the lid and a tiny exterior bubble that only penetrates the surface, not all the way through in a hard to see area. Willing to forgive, nothing is perfect guess this is good enough. No impact on intended use at all.
