Lightening fast kettle with exact variable temperature control!
I purchased this kettle for heating water for tea as I find the microwave to be more time consuming for brewing tea. There are a few things I like about this kettle:- Aesthetics: the overall design and the matte black finish is very sleek on the counter top. I do not like the visual look of bulky, plastic electric tea kettles. The traditional white plastic is garish and really jumps out on the counter top. The Corvo EKG Electric Kettle matches our counter tops (and even the toaster oven that it is adjacent to) quite nicely. As you can see from the photo, it actually blends in and has a very small footprint occupying very little real estate on the counter top. For size, you can see a meal kit 8.5″ x 11″ recipe card next to the kettle.- Speed: the kettle heats up insanely quickly – less than 2 minutes from room temp to boiling for my tea!- Variable temperature control: I primarily drink mint tea and the small booklet told me the exact temperature that I should heat water for this kind of tea. Who knows what temperature I was getting from my previous microwave approach! I suppose if I were to branch out to other kinds of tea, I now know the right temperature for those types. Also, it looks like they have a recommended temperature for brewing coffee. So, if you’re a pour over kinda guy or gal, this electric kettle would work really nicely for brewing coffee and you wouldn’t need two different electric kettles or pieces of brewing equipment.- The timer is built in so you don’t have to set a separate timer on your microwave or Google Home (does anyone else’s Google Home not pay attention to them when they call out a timer?!).Finally, I’ve also recently found a secondary use for our Corvo EKG electric kettle. I’ve replaced this with our (white plastic, garish) milk bottle warmer that we use for breast milk for our baby. It wasn’t the primary reason for purchasing this, but when I unpacked it, I realized I only needed one of them on my counter. Now I can heat up water at the exact temperature that is recommended for heating breast milk so as not to reduce any of the nutritional elements of the milk (if you heat milk up too hot, it’s not good for the composition of the nutrients). And, with the “HOLD” feature (basically, you switch a little button on the back of the base to “hold” at your preferred temp for 60 minutes), I can hold the heated water at the right temperature so if the baby wants more milk, I already have the hot water ready to go. Heated water from the electric kettle heats breast milk WAY faster than the traditional single-function bottle warmer. The Corvo EKG electric kettle is a no brainer if you brew coffee and/or tea, and if you happen to be heating baby bottles as well, you can use this in place of another kitchen gadget. Win win!

Disappointing fit and finish
Disappointing fit and finish. There is an exposed bolt that holds secures the handle, which is not apparent from the photos. It greatly detracts from the look of the kettle. The lid is a different shade of white compared to the kettle. The lid nob gets loose. The electric connections aren’t any more robust than the cheap kettle we had. The switches on the base are loose. Very disappointing given that the only purpose of this kettle is to look and feel nice. Just be happy with a cheaper kettle and use the money to but better tea and coffee.

I love this kettle
About a year ago I decided I really needed an electric kettle. I have always resisted using a gadget for this purpose and just heated water on the stove top in a pot. Works just fine. Although in the last year, I’ve had a few instances of getting sidetracked/busy and forgotten about the water and finding a scorched pot that needed replacing and even more scarily, worried that I was going to start a fire. Chalk that all up to getting older and forgetful. I have been researching electric kettles and even trying some. Nothing was just right. Too big, too heavy, plastic, etc…. And then I found this tea kettle. Priced wayyyyyy more than any of the others. After having spent so much time on research and not finding anything else, and part of wanting this is for safety, I splurged on it.Couldn’t be more happy. Perfect size for just me. Heats water quickly and quietly. It’s still fairly new with having had it for 3 months. But I drink hot tea throughout the day and year round and it gets used multiple times every day.My only 2 complaints about it are so minor that it’s still a 5 star product for me. First is not a big deal…I wish the ready chime could be louder. I can be standing right next to the machine and not hear it with the other noises in the kitchen. The 2nd thing I’d change would be to have measurement markings so that I know how much water I’m putting in. I don’t mind re-using water the same day. But at the end of the day I do wind up having to dump water out. Could be dumping out less water if the measurements were molded into the interior, like the Instant Pot.

This is a very nice kettle (as you would hope at this price) and heats a full kettle of water very quickly imo. I was a bit concerned about another review that mentioned that the little metal ring at the top of the handle (where it connects to the kettle) gets hot. But that is not the case on the Pro Studio edition with walnut handle at least. I did not find that ring to get hot at all. The handle, appears to be solid wood. The colour screen looks much nicer than the original mono-coloured one in my opinion.I was able to register it and get an extra year of warranty in Canada, even though the printed instructions says US only for the extr year.Only issue I had was that the app would not update the firmware (see App Store reviews). I don’t think that I’m missing out on anything, but yeah, their app has…issues.The pro studio edition is very expensive, but I figure you’re paying for the design, the schedule timer, the guide mode presets, the higher quality display screen, the nicer glass finish on the base and general build quality and a 3 year warranty. It’s definitely a luxury item in my book, but I like the quality. I don’t mind supporting a company that seems to be innovating and is not a copy cat company with questionable build materials named ZIGLOOGI or whatever.
