A good, inexpensive, basic toaster
We have a good-size toaster oven, but we wanted something simpler for just 2 slices of toast. This certainly gets the job done at a great price. Indeed, big enough slots for most bagels.
Weird things to look out for include the outer heating elements glowing, and the inner heating elements not glowing. I make the distinction between glowing and heating, because I took a laser thermometer to all 4 heating surfaces, and they all came in at about the same temperature during a toasting cycle. I toast almost entirely bagels and English muffins, so even if there is inconsistent heating, those come out great in this toaster.
Also the black plastic version is cool to the touch and feather light – to a fault. It comes off two legs almost every time I start toasting. Hasn’t tipped over though.
And the control on mine skews to under-done. What I always considered medium browning, on this toaster, requires a setting of 5 out of 6.
Those are mostly minor nuisance things in a toaster that has served us well for a few months now.

I wanted a toaster with lateral facing controls, levers on the sides, this one fits the requirements. Knob set at 4 (~2 minutes 40 seconds) toasted sliced bread just right. Like all toasters I’d used, the center facing side is a bit darker than the outside. Turn the knob and press the bagel button would switch on only the center heaters and add about 30 seconds toasting time. The crumb tray can be slid off completely to clean. I will find use for the rack later. I did a few dry runs to get rid of the “factory” smell before use. Overall, I am quite satisfied with the purchase. We’ll see about longevity.
