So Happy with This Set of Bowls!
Love these bowls and love cooking with them! I had a set of Duralex nesting bowls purchased in 1980 and a few months ago, broke the largest one. Okay, I can’t complain, I used them for 25 years and admittedly, the tempered glass had gotten quite foggy over that time. After a while, I really missed the largest bowl and decided to buy a new set. I bought a less expensive brand, made in the USA, but they were too heavy and the quality of the glass and the workmanship was sorely lacking. I returned them in short order and decided to spring for the Duraflex set. The Lys tempered glass is crystal clear and beautiful, BPA-free, and lead-free. I always feel so good when cooking with them!I use lots of bowls in the kitchen. With these, I never have to hop around the cabinets searching for bowls of different sizes. When baking, I weigh the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, etc. on a kitchen tare scale and these bowls are indispensable for that. Ingredients called for in smaller amounts, such as baking soda, baking powder, and salt, can be measured in spoons and added to the appropriate bowls of pre-weighed ingredients, or, in the case of herbs, spices, flavorings, etc., measured out into their own tiny bowls. Whether you weigh your ingredients or use measuring cups and spoons, having everything you need lying in wait in these beautiful bowls makes baking and cooking a joy. It also alerts me if I ran out of something before I begin, rather than in the middle of making something. This set of bowls is listed above as “stackable”, but they are actually nesting bowls. Because each one fit perfectly the next largest bowl, without adding any height, the space they take up in the cupboard is minimal. The small footprint for this many bowls was important to me because I have a small kitchen and limited cabinet space. The largest bowl is 9″ diameter and the smallest is 2.5″ diameter. Another thing I loved about this set is that I found the bowls for sale individually on different website, so if I break one of these, I will not have to replace the whole set again. Also, on still another website, I saw a Duraflex bowl in the same design in a 10″ diameter. Should it ever be deemed necessary in my kitchen, I can buy that and this set will fit right under this set.One of these days I am going to get rid of all the odd bowls and containers in my cupboards and get another set of these to use for leftovers. I think the variety of sizes will assure me a much more organized and efficient refrigerator. I know my cupboards will be, as well.I would recommend this set to anyone who loves to cook and appreciates a high quality product.

Perfect for what they are designed for.
I received a set of these bowls as a wedding present 30 years ago and have been using them continuously ever since. After reading the one negative review I thought I’d clarify what these bowls are actually supposed to be used for and why they are perfect. I recently purchased a new set because a few of my old bowls had wandered off over the years and I missed them. These ARE NOT MIXING BOWLS! They are designed mainly for cooking, not baking. The large range of sizes is just what you need for assembling ingredients. The small bowls are used for spices. Putting a mix of spices in a large bowl is useless; yet they need to be held together in one place before they are used. The next size up is for chopped flavorings such as garlic or hot peppers. Next size up for eggs. You get the idea. I do use them in baking, however. They hold the various ingredients conveniently so that they can be added to the MIXING BOWL when the time comes. The large one for the flour, next for the sugar, then coco powder, etc. They are thin. This is a good thing. They don’t take up unnecessary space in the cupboard. They are light weight yet sturdy. I also use them to store ready to eat fruits or leftovers in the fridge – – the fact that they are clear means the foods in them aren’t ignored by hungry children. I don’t recall any of my bowls ever breaking. Thirty years of cooking for a family of 5. Not bad.I love to cook and collect mixing bowls and I use all that I own. Very few modern bowls are any good; the days of home cooking are gone, I’m afraid. I have to say that these bowls are the most used day to day implements in my kitchen. It’s wonderful that a product designed during the golden age of home cooking is still available for purchase. Buy them, use them and leave them to your favorite grandchild. The will still be useful 100 years from now.

Very, very nice set
I got these and I have used them a little so far. I am a terrible cook and I got these the help me with three things: embracing the concept of mise en place, having the right size bowl to suit the task, and recognizing that kitchen space is not infinite. Simple concepts to a good cook, I am sure. I, sadly, find I do better if I follow a recipe, thus mise en place is important. Having the right size bowl is also a terrific boon as it turn out, because I hate cleaning–so having the right size bowl saves space in the dishwasher and this is lovely because I can cook very complicated recipes without as much hand washing. That they nest closely and flatly is great because this is a large number of bowls that fit into a very small foot print–love that. So far I actually love them, but they need the test of a little time to see that they hold up. That’s the only reason for the 4/5. They seem very good quality, but quality is a test of time and use, I haven’t had them long enough to know.Update September 2016: 3 years later and the set is intact! No one is more surprised than I am. It is true I am ‘aware’ of them as delicate as I work with them and so don’t bang them around or leave them in precarious positions thus making them vulnerable to damage. I doubt they really are that delicate, but they are glass after all. I have an odd feeling though that that is part of becoming a better beginner cook, and that being ‘aware’ of these bowls has helped me to become more aware of the virtues of mise en place and vice versa. Just a thought. Upgrading to 5 stars, and if I break them all tomorrow, still 5 stars.

I’ve used these bowls every day since I received them! I love to bake and cook; these bowls are so versatile for pre-measuring ingredients, enabling recipes to be executed flawlessly – especially useful for stirfrys where having pre-measured ingredients ready to go in a moment’s notice is imperative. Definitely recommend if you enjoy baking and cooking!

Absolutely love my Duralex bowls. They are in use all the time and take up very little room in my kitchen cupboard.

These are a great set of bowls for cooking prep. for meals and cakes etc. with the smaller bowls especially useful if you like using a few spices and herbs. They are fairly fine but seem quite strong, take up very little space, are not too heavy to lift the whole lot out of the kitchen cupboard/drawers. and look nice for tapas or other things on the table as well as for practical meal preparation.
