    O-M-G!
I do not have much use for can openers and that is why I was willing to put up with my quirky electric can opener. I couldn’t find a replacement electric that had great reviews and looked as nice on the counter. I considered a handheld for a long time, but was hesitant, because I was afraid that I would not be strong enough to use it. I have back issues that the slightest little pressure can sometimes cause a world of hurt and also dealing with a hand that I had crushed most of the bone in that healed well, but can be acutely painful at times. I’m also a lefty, uncoordinated as all get out and was not sure if this would work for me. Previous experience years ago with those little skinny ones with a butterfly turn knob had been a disaster. The low price and all the positive reviews convinced me to order the EZ-DUZ-IT Deluxe Can OPener with Black Grips. I am so glad that I did. This piece is a piece that is built to last, an all too rare commodity nowadays. It is a weighty piece without being cumbersome. It fits well even into my small “fun size” hands. It takes little effort to complete the job. I am thoroughly impressed with this can opener. I received the can opener after having a flare up with my hand. Although I was not experiencing the acute pain I had, my hand was still fragile and sore. I was able to open a can with minimal additional discomfort. I do not believe that any other can opener would have produced any better result. I definitely know that it was less effort and pain than using the electric can opener I had. I was so impressed with the EZ-DUZ-IT after the first test use that I immediately unplugged my electric & chucked it in the trash. I have the EZ-DUZ-IT for awhile, but only used it a handful of times. It washes up well by hand or in the dishwasher. There have been a few occasions where I had to cease cooking and get off my feet right away, which led to the EZ-DUZ-IT not being cleaned by hand right away and that was okay. Everything stays really clean. More so than with the electrics. It is a breeze to clean. I threw it in the dishwasher to see how the metals would react and if it would hamper the ease in which it performed. Happy to say it still works brill! I would have no hesitation to throw in the dishwasher, but there really isn’t any need, as this cuts smoothly and cleanly.I can highly recommend this to any and all, but especially to those who may suffer from arthritis or limited mobility/dexterity in their hands. This is as good as you are going to get. I can say in all honesty that the EZ-DUZ-IT would still be my number 1 pick over a not so quirky electric opener. This may seem silly to many of you reading, but for those with less than perfect health it makes sense…. you don’t even have to lift the can up! Yes, sometimes even lifting an average size tin can send someone in a world of hurt. With the electric you have to lift your can and gosh forbid if it is a family size can of anything, which can be plain awkward no matter what your health is. With the EZ-DUZ-IT I see no need for an electric, unless you are going to be opening copious amounts of cans all at one time. I couldn’t be more thrilled. Plan on purchasing more for gifts and my emergency kit… I never want to be without my EZ-DUZ-IT!

    Sturdy and Effective
This opener was recommended from America’s Test Kitchen. It’s excellent. Strong, sturdy, attaches properly, turns smoothly. So many openers are cheap and lightweight, not this one.

    Yup, it WORKS!
i just got it literally 15 minutes ago my time and used it to open a can of peas, a can of cream of mushroom soup, a can of diced carrots and a 16 oz can of tuna…i’m making tuna ala king…it went through the cans like a hot knife through butter.the primary reason i decided to get this was that in the last 3 years, i just realized this, i’ve spent nearly a hundred dollars on just can openers. can you believe that??? nearly one hundred dollars on stupid can openers that some didn’t even make it half way through a can of chicken noodle soup and others that just wore out over a couple of weeks to a couple of months…and NONE of them cost over $10 but every single one was made in the People’s Republic of You Know Where.i got fed up with it and decided to “buy once, cry once” with this one by EZ-DUZ-IT.now to the INITIAL review…CONS;It is not “ergo-dynamic”. which is just another marketing ploy to add a buck to the price. It is not compact. it’s a full sized can opener, not a Swiss Army knife. It is not outfitted in florals, pastels or vibrant colors. put down the Martha Stewart’s magazine and nobody gets hurt.PROS;It is really easy to use. like i said earlier, it went through four cans, three 12oz’s and one 16oz, like a hot knife through butter. the grip was secure, the rotating handle was EXTREMELY easy to use and i do have the beginnings of arthritis in both hands along with cubital tunal syndrome in my left arm and peripheral neuropathy in both arms. It’s not dainty. it’s built like a tank and if anything in your kitchen should survive a house fire, earthquake, wild fire, nuke strike, asteroid impact or mostly peaceful protest it should be your can opener. It’s “full constructed” as in, the handle “legs” go all the way down and don’t just end in a 1/8th or 1/4th inch tab glued into a plastic handle.so this this ends my initial review. i’ll be posting a 30 day, 90 day six month and 1 year follow up but as it stands right now, if you are in need of a truly decent quality can opener that will work and not give you the fits over a can of condensed milk then get this one.oh, here’s a few FYI’s…1. even though the description says that you can was with warm soapy water, DON’T and NEVER put ANY manual can opener into a dish washer. the best thing to do is to carefully, so as to not injure yourself, wipe down the can opener’s contact and cutting surfaces with a clean dry cloth or dish towel. don’t use oil. this can cause gumming and interfere with positive contact and lock-up with the can and the can opener.2. 99.999% of the gunk that gets onto and into your can opener comes from the can. simple solution is to just wipe the can’s top with a clean cloth or napkin. if you think that you need to use soap and water or cleaning wipes or sprays on your cans of food, you need to find a new grocery store.3. don’t just throw your can opener into a drawer. remember that this is a CUTTING INSTRUMENT. your $300 chef knife is a cutting instrument, albeit designed to cut different things differently, but it’s purpose is to cut. so make a dedicated space/place/spot for it. back when i was a child, there used to be kitchen drawer inserts and these had slots for knives, forks, tablespoons, teaspoons and one wide spot that was too short for knives and forks and too short for spoons. that was because it was the can opener’s place.thanks for taking the time to read my review and i hope the information i gave helps.
