Fantastic Handle Design
Everything in my kitchen is very much a reflection of who I am. I love to cook and I have always seen my kitchen tools as an extension of my style and creativity. So when Dalstrong came out with their new Shadow Black Series, I was totally intrigued. This knife is totally different from the knives in their Shogun, Gladiator and Phantom lines – all lines of which I own and love for their own individual unique quailities. The first thing that you will notice about this Shadow Black Series chef knife compared to Dalstrongâs other knives is the black, non-reflective titanium-nitride coating on the blade. Not only does it give the blade a sleek, upscale and unique (not to mention bada$$) look, but the coating helps protect against blade corrosion, adds strength to the blade itself and enhances the non-stick properties of the knife. Since a chef knife is generally designed to be an all-purpose, multitasking knife created for those who have to chop, mince and dice frequently, these are all important considerations and qualities. The edge of the blade itself, is incredibly sharp, and it allows me to transition easily from dicing and chopping vegetables to cutting through muscle proteins such as beef and chicken with clean slices.Another major and significant difference you will notice is the design of the handle for this knife, which is, in my opinion, what makes this knife so totally unique. The handle geometry, unlike other knives, is not long flat and smooth. It has the most intuitive shaped angles molded into the fiber-resin that give it the most natural feel in your hand. Instead of you hand molding to the flat edges of a regular handle this handle is actually designed to mold around your palm, giving you a firm grasp regardless of the grip style you use. I have small hands, and this knife felt like it was custom designed for me. My husband, whose hands are much larger than mine, also prefers this knife due to the comfort of the handle in his grasp. The handle also has a slight texture of the giving it a nice anti-slip capability. Another thing I like about this handle, unlike traditional wooden handles is that it is nearly impervious to heat, cold and moisture. Like other Dalstrong knives, this knife is designed with full tang and has excellent heft and balance. If you are planning to give this as a gift, you will love the magnetic close sleek black presentation box that this knife comes in. Every bit of attention has been given to make this knife feel like the prize possession of your kitchen. So happy that I gave this beauty a try!

Great Knife
Thereâs a whole lot of negative reviews and comments out there on Reddit about Dalstrong. Not sure why, but the Dalstrong hate is undeserved.Itâs definitely pricey, but the quality is there, the handle may look plastic-y in the photos, but itâs definitely not a plastic feeling to grip. The grip is incredibly comfortable. If you use the rocking technique while cooking, this knife is perfect for that. Itâs incredibly easy to clean (still hand clean it, not safe for dishwasher), and it doesnât require oil.The blade is thin enough to be low profile, but thick enough to where it doesnât catch on cutting boards or try to twist off in another direction. This is my first Dalstrong knife, so I canât speak to any others in their lineup, but Iâll definitely be buying more from the Shadow series.

Good balance, sharp and holds up well to a busy chef
I love this chef knife! Great quality, good balance, I like the grip, slices like a dream, sharpens easily. Quickly becoming my âgo toâ blade. Itâs also a good weight and you donât get the hand fatigue that can happen with some knives. I will buy more from this brand. Solid work piece for a reasonable price.

As Sharp as they are beautiful
Beautifully designed cutlery that is functional comfortable and extremely sharp. The box it comes in is as nice of a box as you could put something in beautifully crafted with a sheath and a metal Dalstrong pin so if youâre giving this as a gift itâs perfect. I already purchased zwilling pros that were made in Germany and while I love them they just were two classic lookingâ¦. they look like every other knife in every kitchen across America and I wanted something more modern and different and these certainly fit the bill. The quality is just about as good but they are half the price with a lifetime warranty. They are 20 to 30% sharper and more comfortable and lighter.Pros: modern design. It seriously looks like a stealth fighter landed on your counter top. Definitely a conversation piece one guess come over.Extremely sharp out of the boxWell balancedLight but not âcheapâ feelingExtremely comfortable in the hand actually the most comfortable kitchen knife I have ever held. While Iâm not a professional cook Iâm a long time knife collector and these knives are beautiful and functional and extremely comfortable. All the handles are the same size whether you have a pairing knife or their 10 1/2 inch sushi knife you can actually grip them comfortably. I am a large man at 6 foot six with large hands and what I hate about other knife sets is that the smaller knives have small teeny tiny handles to grip. That would be fine if I could put on my teeny tiny hands to use them but I canât so they are quite useless to me. These handles are exactly the same size across-the-board which is great.Lifetime warrantyCons:Made in China. I know that they have gotten aeons better recently but usually their products typically fail a lot sooner than American made or German-made or Japanese made productsâ¦. Only time will tell. But after Reading all the reviews it seems like they have excellent customer service. The black coating looks fantastic but Iâm afraid it will scratch and or wear out over time. Iâve owned some other black coated blades before and after a few months they start looking worn and pick up a few scratches. Since I just ordered these and itâs November I have until February 1, 2022 to return them so Iâll try them out for 3 months and then report back.I wanted to get the 5 pc set but they are sold out everywhere so instead I bought this universal stainless steel knife block and then stuck on their pin on it and it turned out pretty good.Bottomline: these knives are sharp figuratively and literally so just go ahead and buy them you wonât regret it. And after all what do you have to lose? Itâs Amazon so you can send them back for free â¦.and right now you have till February 1st of next year to return them.

Bought this knife as an upgrade from a cheap beginners set I had purchased, fully expecting it to be dull within a week⦠I was entirely wrong. At work my prep routine typically means cutting 30 quarts worth of mixed veggies and proteins per day, Iâve had it a few weeks now and have had zero need to even hone the edge
