First of all, I must point out that, in all of my product reviews I rarely award a full give stars, reserving this rating for truly superior products. Hence, the five-star rating for this lifetime-quality kitchen implement.This box grater was bought to replace a poorly constructed box grater that couldn’t stand up to five years of light use. So I bought the Cuisipro for a few reasons:* it appeared sturdy, designed for the way people actually use one of these implements* it has all the slicing textures one could demand from a four-sided box grater* it has a beefed-up slicer on one side of the box* it has a bones ginger grater built into a hard runner “stopper” for the bottom of the box* it features a unique design on each grater side intended to prevent grated food from sticking to the grater’s sides and also to reduce friction between the food and the grater.All in all, the grater works well. WARNING: The device is razor-sharp. Much sharper than most other box graters you can buy. And while you should be always wary of any bladed device you use, this one requires your full attention in its use. The slightest contact between skin/flesh and blades on the cutting downstroke will result in blood in the food, a wound that will require cleanup and care, and, possibly, stitches. So, there’s that.It really does grate food great. Heh, heh.Very little pressure on the food being grated is required. In fact, excess pressure will result only in wasted effort and the increased risk of the thing slipping and damaging your delicate pinkies. Seriously, this device is sharp. The cheese grater you are looking for but didnât know so.
Sharp, sturdy, excellent grating features and made short work of 3 blocks of aged cheddar. Comfortable handle grip, a nice feature of a built in ginger grater bottom that doubles as a container lid. Very sharp but if your serious about having good equipment in your kitchen cabinet the. This grater is the oneâ¦look no further.

Super sharp shredder
Really nice shredder. Makes short work of cheese and nicely grates cabbage and carrots. It is really sharp so you need to be mindful of the digits when shredding quickly- not as sharp as a Mandoline, but still can grate a knuckle or two if not careful. Have used it on its side to grate or slice garlic and ginger.Really happy with my purchase and it cleans upeasily if you donât let food dry on it.

Good, just not the best
The Cuisipro will replace a supermarket grater I’ve been using for a decade. A lot of reviewers like it the best, except ATK for some reason. Problem with them, is their choice is awful. I bought their top-rated Cuisinart and while it’s half the price, and it did OK on the large holes, it’s entire back side was a jagged horror show. I’m not sure what problem ATK has with etched versus stamped holes (they prefer stamped), but the Cuisipro doesn’t seem to suffer from it (it’s etched). It’s very sharp. And I like the array of holes: large on one side, smaller on the other, and very small (think microplane) on the small side (the other small side is a slicer, which I’ll never use and actually left the plastic on it. I really only need the front and back, so that’s perfect. The downsides? I would prefer a rubber seal on the bottom, which you only get if you leave the base on. Also, while the top of the handle is comfortable plastic, the supports are metal and can be uncomfortable. And the price is the highest I’ve seen for any grater, and there’s no free shipping.

Great Box Grater
Normally, I do not write reviews…but need to set record straight based on my experience:Was reluctant to buy because so many reviews discussed sharpness/danger. I’m 76 y.o. and found no issues at all, just make sure you stop grating within an inch of the object to be grated. Works great, faster and better than any other manual grater I have used over the years. Very comfortable to hold, easy to clean. I don’t use/keep attached the rubber piece on the bottom, unnecessary, I feel. The slicer also works very well, from carrots to cukes, to zucchini…slices are a bit thin, tho’. I stand it on a plate or a cutting board (plastic) when grating, does not move, sturdy. Only complaint…it is overpriced, BUT does the job really well.

After throwing out yet another grater due to the plastic breaking on it I sought this one out. It’s awesome! Very sharp, sturdy-almost all steel aside from the rubberized handle….just what I was looking for. So far working great. I run it through the dishwasher without hesitation and it is holding up nicely so far. If you are sick of graters falling apart, pick this one up. Would be nice if it was less expensive, but I have no regrets paying extra for this one which likely won’t fall apart.
