Works great but doesn’t feel well built.
I purchased this to replace my current toaster that died. I never had great luck with toasters. I really never had one that toasted evenly on both sides. So after reading a lot of toaster reviews on the web and Amazon I decided to give this one a try. I didn’t need the extra features this one had. I just wanted a toaster that toasted evenly on both sides, had 4 large slice openings and had the lift feature to lift the toast up to grab it. I tried it for the first time today and was pleased with the results with english muffins. It toasted evenly on both side and was a lot faster than my old one. I like the silver and white retro look on my counter. The only thing negative I can say about it is that for almost $60.00 when I first picked it up and removed it from the box I was expecting something that felt a little more well built. To me it felt light and not well built. While the metal finish look great it feels thin like a coke can. Pushing down on the toasting levers gives a tinny cheap feel. The toaster works and looks great. I just wish it had a little heavier well built feeling.

Worth the money – toasts evenly every time!
We’ve had this Cuisinart Metal Classic 4 Slice Toaster for about six weeks after our old one refused to toast evenly after about 12 years. Our coffee maker died at just about the same time so we didn’t want to spend a fortune since we needed 2 appliances, but we didn’t want to get cheap for cheap’s sake, either. Doing the usual research and reading many, many reviews we decided on the Cuisinart. The only other Cuisinart we’ve ever had was a coffee grinder which worked great for a very long time so we weren’t loyal to any one brand, just wanted to be informed (and lucky). Never having spent this much on a toaster we expected as close to perfection as possible, and so far this Cuisinart does not disappoint! Not only does it look really good in a retro way, it works great. The white trim on the metal silver body is stylish and attractive enough to sit on the counter – no cover or garage needed. More importantly it toasts evenly and consistently. We make either toast or English muffins every morning and have had no surprises, which is a nice surprise in itself. And the lift lever is a nifty feature that is very appreciated. With our old toaster we would have to unplug and then stick a butter knife into the slot to retrieve toast or muffins. We haven’t tried toasting bagels yet, but I’m optimistic. Same goes for frozen waffles, pastries, etc. The crumb catcher tray does its job and is easy to clean. We definitely give this toaster 2 thumbs up! It’s worth every dollar.

Better than most (UPDATED)
Good: The first few rounds of toast came out rather uneven, but it’s now settled down and toasting consistently and predictably. Wide browning range… possibly too wide; see below. Levers let you lift the toast edge well clear of the top, no chance of burning yourself with reasonable care.Bad: Browning dial goes all the way from barely-warm to smoke-alarm-triggering burnt, has a rather narrow useful range. Defrost button does nothing that I can discern; you get toast whether the button is pressed or not, or whether the bread is frozen or not.Ugly: Nothing; an attractive appliance.Bottom line: On the evidence, it is surprisingly hard to engineer a toaster that consistently delivers evenly browned toast. This one isn’t perfect but does the job better than most, including my last one which cost $20 more. Four stars.UPDATE 8/6/20: One heating element failed, limiting me to two slices of toast or two plus two one-side-toasted slices. Element appears to be unreplaceable, since it appears they don’t sell parts for it other than the stupid crumb tray. Annoying, since I now have to scrap an $80 toaster that still mostly works. Keeping the four stars, barely, because I did get five years of daily use out of the thing. I really do expect more durability and serviceability at this price, however. Probably won’t buy another one.

LOVE THE WAY IT LOOKS AND TOASTS.
We replaced our old Black & Decker toaster, which had one side that did not work. This model is a little smaller in dimensions, but I am in love with its sleek white and stainless steel look. One side toasts wider slices and bagels, and the other side is for toast although It can do both.I had it for a few weeks and it worked perfectly. I also appreciate that it has a defrost setting, although we haven’t used that yet.

Beautiful toaster!
Iâve been eyeing this toaster for awhile & finally pulled the trigger on it. First impressionâlove it. Perfect condition, and itâs beautiful. I toasted both waffles & bread, both toasted evenly in all 4 slots. My only concern is that it has a chemical/plastic burning type odor when it toasts. Iâve only used it this once so Iâm hoping itâs just because itâs new and that the smell will go away. Purchased this toaster over others since it is bpa free so hopefully the smell isnât a big deal and wonât be an issue. Will definitely update after several uses if it doesnât change!

Messy with uneven heating
I can confidently say that this is the most expensive piece of beautiful garbage that I’ve ever had the displeasure of owning. Its one redeeming feature is its looks. It’s terribly messy – if you move the device, even the slightest bit, it’ll dust the countertop with crumbs from the base. The crumb trap at the bottom fails to catch even half of the mess. The activator levers frequently fail to catch so you’ll have to maneuver the toast/bagels in the tray to get it working. Finally its worst trait – the toast is abysmal. The top half is always undercooked, and if you try to add to the timer you’ll end up burning the bottom half for any setting over ‘3’. I tried working around this by toasting on a low setting, flipping, and toasting again. For $70, I expect the toaster to handle that for me.Do not buy.
