Great coffee and a cold brew system built to last
This rugged and economical setup makes great cold brew coffee — and you’ll never need to buy a disposable filter.I’ve tried several systems, but this is the best value so far. The Ball jar is nearly bombproof and very easy to clean. Lids are standard, so you can pick up extras (and replacement jars) pretty much anywhere. The screen filter is stainless steel, also easy to clean, and should last for years. The only thing that’s likely to wear is the silicone seal. Fortunately, they’re inexpensive, so you can stock up.I’m used to weighing my coffee, but you can be much more casual with this brewer. In my case, I started with a good-quality but inexpensive dark roast, Seattle’s Best #4. The pre-ground stuff works fine, though you’ll want to grind it more coarsely if you work with whole beans. The instructions aren’t kidding when they say leave at least an inch of freeboard as you fill the filter. If you don’t, it will be hard to pour the water through your grounds. I actually leave a bit more space than that (maybe 3 cm).Just spoon your coffee in loosely. Don’t tamp it down and don’t stir. Once you’ve poured water through the grounds to about the 1.5-liter mark, seal things up and give it a good shake. This is what fully wets the grounds. I usually reopen the jar and pour a bit more water on the seal and top of the screen to remove any grounds or sediment before setting the jar aside to steep. For me, 24 hours at room temperature yields a rich brew. You can leave it longer for stronger coffee, but you will run the risk of natural fermentation the longer it sits. This can be offset by brewing in the fridge. If you go this route, you’ll also double the brewing times. And who has time for that? I’m ready to get at my cold brew as soon as possible, even running two brew jars at a time. With the coffee and method described above, I use the concentrate full strength for cold coffee with a splash of milk over ice, and cut with water by about a third for hot. Your mileage may vary. There’s no one right way to make coffee. I still use my Aeropress for metro and lighter roasts, and pour-over fans will probably feel the same. Those methods give you more control for bringing out the best in top-quality beans. But my French press is feeling a bit lonely since I started using this system. It’s easy to get hooked on the smooth, sweet-tasting finish of cold brew, and this is the most economical and convenient brewer I’ve discovered to date.

Easiest and Most Affordable Way For Cold Brew
I got the 1 quart jar since I donât drink too much coffee at one time. This is by far the easiest and most affordable way to make cold brew. I love that you are able to thoroughly clean everything and all components are dishwasher safe. Other products have negative reviews about certain nook and cranny areas developing mold since you canât properly clean it – no problem with this product. Also the stainless steel mesh is very fine and well built. Below are some tips that I found helped me make the best cold brew. (I drink mine without adding anything to the coffee).1. If you are going to add the course ground beans into the strainer as it is intended, then when you get to the halfway point of putting the amount of coffee grounds you want into the filter, add water halfway so that those grounds can get saturated with water, then after all the grounds are in, add remaining water. Make sure you use good water, hard water produces bitter tastes. Shake gently to get water fully in between all the grounds then set in fridge or leave it out at room temp. Fridge will require longer brewing time than room temperature to bring out the sweeter tastes of the coffee. I recommend 24 hours at the very least.2. My preferred but unorthodox method is to actually put half of the coffee grounds from the total amount of coffee I want into the jar directly (not the filter), add water halfway to get all of them soaked, then add remaining coffee grounds along with all the remaining water. I wait for the coffee to settle to the bottom which takes a couple minutes, then put the filter in! Last step is to put the top on and set in fridge. When itâs done, I pour the coffee out into a separate cup/container, and the filter successfully stops all the grounds from coming out of the jar. Make sure you hold the filter tightly against the top of the jar to prevent coffee bean fragments going into coffee. I always accidentally get a little in mine, but I personally donât care. I basically reverse how the filter is used. I like this method better because the coffee grounds have way more exposure to the water and as the grounds expand from soaking up water, there is plenty enough room as opposed to being inside the filter – the groundâs expansion leaves less room for the water. Itâs not a huge difference, but I prefer this way to get the most out of each coffee ground since coffee can be expensive.I use 8-12 tablespoons of coffee grounds to the full jar of water to achieve the taste I want. I put mine in the fridge for 24-30 hours. So far it has given me the best cold brew Iâve ever had. No longer is there a need to give Starbucks all my money!

Very easy to use, good quality materials like thick glass and a tight seal. I stored it on its side in the fridge to test the seal for camping and it held up. Makes delicious cold brew. Make sure to use coarse grind or you may end up with some very very fine coffee grounds in your coffee. I find 24 hrs makes the perfect brew. I would buy again.

What’s great is the simplicity of the brewing process – just add coffee grounds and water, let it steep overnight, and wake up to a smooth and flavorful cold brew coffee. The stainless steel filter is a game-changer, making cleanup a breeze and eliminating the need for disposable filters. Plus, the pitcher is easy to store in the fridge and pours without any drips or spills. It’s convenient, efficient, and produces the perfect cup of cold brew every time. Highly recommend!
