Mom had one since I was a boy 50+ years ago. It was still being used when she died.itâs now my sisters can opener. I think she has an electric can opener but uses the acoustic sometimes.They do an adequate job but get dirty/rusty if you donât clean them well.Certainly worth the money. But beware, if you donât plan on cleaning it well after each use, itâs gonna get groddy and rusted/corroded in the mechanisms.(Iâm on my third one because Iâm a slob, obviously)If it gets nasty, you can always buy another. I imagine thousands of these openers have already been packaged for sale, sitting in a warehouse in China.Then you can write a negative review on Amazon, about how a $10 can opener is a ripoff because you didnât keep it clean.

Durable, dependable, does the job in style!
The Swing-a-way can opener is a great product. I had my mothers and my granddaughter kept coming and borrowing it. Didnât know I could find them. Sure enough not only found them but ordered one for each of my girls!!! Her mother had just brought one from the grocery store. Light piece of trash. Had her close her eyes and hold each. This one is durable! She agreed to take the other back. Instant feel of quality! Worth it to no longer have the frustrations of opening a can. Any can clean and neat.

So far seems to be a good can opener but just a couple things…
I gave 4 stars because I don’t think I have ever used this type of can opener before and was surprised how sturdy it seems. I have only used it for a few days and only a couple of times but it seems like it might last for while. It didn’t take any effort to open a can with it. Yesterday I noticed the rubber handles were trying to slip off but other then that no problem so far. I didn’t know this product was made in China and I probably would not have ordered it if I had know because the last 5 years I have went through about 30 or more can openers all from China and all broke, usually within just days or a month or two. I might not order this again if it is still made in China but if I could find the exact same thing made in America I would definitely purchase it again and recommend it to anyone. I hope it last a few years but I will still be on the lookout for a made in America version. My grandmother had several made in America can openers that people were always borrowing and not bringing back but they were all the same type and they lasted me all through my childhood and I know some she had lasted for over 30 years. All of them were the Ekco brand, the “butterfly” type. I tried finding them in stores and even contacted the manufacturer and I warned by someone that they are now made in China and will break down like all the other cheap made garbage. I have reduced the amount of can food my family eats over the years all because of only being able to find terrible cheap constructed can openers from China. I’m not wasting any more money if this can opener doesn’t work or If I can’t find a similar one made in America I’m just giving up on can food all together because it’s ridiculous that you can’t even open your purchases because the equipment that is made to open the purchases are done by greedy companies trying to rob consumers with faulty poorly constructed products and should be boycotted if not sued.
