durable board especially for meats

Decent alternative to wood or plastic cutting boards
The stainless steel side of the Gourmetop cutting board is an interesting alternative to traditional wood and plastic boards. The ability to keep produce and meat separated is important and the stainless side doesnât seem to result in damage to knives. Thereâs controversy over exposure to micro plastics so your comfort level may vary regarding the polypropylene side. One important point of concern is that the cutting board is not dishwasher safe according to the product description and thatâs a drawback. But if thatâs not a big drawback then the Gourmetop is a good choice.

Sturdy and seems durable
Ordered this for my husband he was super excited and surprised to see a stainless steel cutting board. He used it tonight to clean and cut fish. He said it really gripped the meat and helped it to stay in place as to prevent getting cut as easily . When he was done it cleaned up nicely he didn’t notice any scratches or abrasions on it . It was light weight enough for an elderly person or child to carry. If you flip it over you can use it for other things like pressing garlic with the built in garlic press. It was the perfect size and stored away easily. A great item to add to the kitchen. Later he also used it to cut up pear apples and carrots to feed our livestock. It works great for veggies , fruits and meat.Update: After several uses the stainless steel side does have what looks like surface scrstch marks. And I have personally used it and think the handle is flimsy on it and wouldn’t be at all surprised if it doesn’t break.

I was initially really excited about the stainless steel side of this cutting board specifically to use for cutting raw meat as I thought it would be so much easier to clean and so much more sanitary. Sadly, I thought about it after ordering the board, and realized that cutting on the metal side was likely going to wreak havoc on my knives. While I still think that it would be great from a cleanliness standpoint, I can’t bring myself to cut on that side because I don’t want to have to sharpen my knives every couple of weeks.I have used the plastic side though and it’s awesome! I love the overall size of the board. I love the groove around the outer edge to help contain mess. The plastic is still very easy to clean using hot soapy water. I will note, it is definitely not scratch resistant as stated in the product description. Even after first use, there were noticeable scratches on the surface of the board. Still a little more sanitary for cutting meats than using my wooden cutting board, in my opinion.I haven’t used the built in grater feature yet, but appreciate that it’s there and will likely try using it to zest lemons or oranges when needed.

Dulls the knives quicker then woodOver all, I am happy with this cutting board. I did notice it turns the blades on my cheaper knives very fast, but on the good ones I am fine through a work session. It is easy to clean and disinfect and is not scoring so no grooves for the bacteria to live in.
