Cooling Rack
I bought a Nordic Ware Bakers Half Sheet, 13 X 18 X 1 and CIA Masters Collection set of 2 12 X 17 inch Cooling Rack together tried to make a combo. Unfortunately the rack runs a bit too big and won’t fit in the pan perfectly. So I returned the CIA racks to Amazon and ordered this Chicago Metallic Non-Stick Extra Large Cooling Rack, it fits perfectly. The wires are skinnier than my Wilton Non-Stick Cooling Rack Grid (14.5″ X 20″) and it only weights 12.5oz (355g), which is kinds of light but seems sturdy enough. Grids size 0.5″ X 0.5″. I like the fact that it has an extra leg runs across the middle of the rack which gives it a very nice support.Update:For the half sheet, when it says 13″ X 18″ X 1″, it’s the measurement of top of the pan (rim). Since all my half sheets the “wall” are all up slightly outward, the bottom of the Nordic Ware Bakers Half Sheet actually measures only 11.5″ X 16.5″ (I have another old 13″ X 18″ X 1″ half sheet the bottom size is 11.75″ X 16.75″). Here the cooling rack is 16.7″ X 11.5″, the “legs” is about 1/2″ tall. that’s why it fits well in both of my half sheets. I gave it four stars when I first wrote my review was because I haven’t use it enough yet, at that point I couldn’t say I love it. Now I have it for almost a year and it does really good job for me: no sticking, fairly easy to clean, stays the shape. I love it!More Update: After more than two years of use. Still love it. Only one concern is I always hand wash it until recently first time put it into dishwasher. When I took it out after the hot dry circle, I saw quite a few of rusted spots! Back to hand wash and air dry. It works fine even the non-stick coating starts to fall off. I would be even happier if this rack is made of stain stainless steel but not non-stick coating.

Does exactly what I need it to do
I’ve been wanting to get a baking rack for a long time, but I’ve been concerned about buying one that would rust quickly, be difficult to clean, or which may allow food to drop down between the holes/slats.This baking/cooling rack is awesome. It is dishwasher safe, although the non-stick coating makes washing it by hand easy, and it has proven to be oven safe. So far, I have used it to bake chicken breasts and bacon, and have used it as a cooling rack.I will say that I do NOT have a matching Chicago brand baking sheet, so it doesn’t fit perfectly with the baking sheet that I have, but I have been able to make this work with no issues.This is a large baking rack, and I especially loved using this for when I made bacon in the oven. It takes a little longer than baking it in a shallow baking pan, but the bacon crisps up better without burning.

Thin gauge wire makes it lightweight, but less strong
I like the design, especially that the rack is supported in the middle and fits properly inside a half-sheet pan, but I was rather disappointed that the gauge of the metal wire used is rather light. As a cooling rack it can easily support baked goods like cookies and cakes, but as a cooking rack it is a bit lightweight. I use cooling racks inside my sheet pans to roast things that require low sides, but this rack won’t support much weight. Since it is labeled as a cooling rack and it should work well as such, and since it should work well in the oven with lightweight items, I gave it 4 stars.

Excellent in the oven
This rack has exceeded my expectations. Solid feel, good size, and handles being in the oven without warping. But the main thing is that it cleans so easily. Last night I used it to hold several pieces of chicken marinated in a honey-based sauce, placed directly on the ungreased rack with a foil-lined baking tray underneath to catch the drips. I was left with a rack covered in dark-caramel-like tar all over it, yet when I put it in my sink and sprayed it with hot water, almost all of the tar washed away…and the remaining bits were freed by simply running my fingertips over them. Ended up looking brand new even before the application of any soap.As noted in another review, the fact that this rack has cross bars makes it much better for baking frozen french fries. Because they’d fall through a rack with bars in only one direction, I used to do them on a cookie sheet, and have to turn them halfway through. With this rack my convection oven can get all sides at once…no turning needed.I’m going to order a few more for family members.The actual size of my rack is 16-3/4″ by 11-5/8″.

Perfect
This is a perfect fit for my Chicago baking sheets. I use it to prepare bacon in the oven. Works like a charm. My only complaint (far outweighed by its positive aspects) is it is not dishwasher safe and hand washing it is a bit tedious.

Bought this item to use in the holiday cookie baking marathon.This rack seems a bit lightweight compared to other choices on amazon (for example, the Ultra cuisine rack appears sturdier and more durable). Amazon this rack shipped it in a paper envelope, which resulted in the rack being bent out of shape in shipping. The rack also has a shorter rise than other racks (½ inch for this rack, compared to 1 inch on others)Nice features are the nonstick surface and the welding of the crossbars across he rack – which some other do not have.
