A Phenomenal Dutch Oven
I couldn’t be happier with this Caraway Dutch oven. This isn’t the first Caraway product I’ve owned, so I knew going in that this would be a high-quality product, and it really is. I already own a smaller 4 qt. Dutch oven by another old/extremely reputable company, but I’ve been desperately needing something bigger. This one is as good if not even better than the other one I have.This pot, like all Caraway products, came well packaged and in perfect condition. The size of it is what I consider necessary for anyone needing to cook large amounts of food. We’re a family of five, so it works well for my purposes. The dark gray is lovely, but super importantly nothing stains it! My other Dutch oven is red and has taken on a patina of sorts, but this one looks as nice as it did when it came out of the box. The interior is dark, too, and very easy to clean.As for how well it cooks food, I’ve made all sorts of foods (French boule, chili, potato leek soup, a roast, lentils, etc), and everything has turned out great in this pot. It heats evenly while not allowing anything to get stuck to the bottom, and it has the little dimples on the underside of the lid, which if you’ve ever used a Dutch oven then you know how important those are for your food. The handle is an appropriate size unlike some competitors, and I didn’t realize how much I wanted that until I got this pot given that my smaller one has a smaller knob. This lid is much easier to handle because of the size and shape of the knob on top.Overall, this Dutch oven is a phenomenal product, and I’m beyond happy with it. Not only does it look great, but it is so functional and cooks food the way it’s meant to. This is the sort of cooking vessel that every home cook should have, and it would make a fantastic housewarming or wedding gift. Or you can be like me and get one for yourself. This Caraway Dutch oven is a must have, and I highly recommend it.

I am reviewing the Caraway Enameled Dutch Oven – 6.5 qt Cast Iron Dutch Oven With Lid – 3 Layer Enamel Coating – No Seasoning Required – Compatible With All Stovetops – Oven Safe – No Forever Chemicals in the color Rust, sold by the Caraway store. I chose this item as I am phasing out all of my old cookware with questionable chemicals. I wanted something large that I can use on both the stove top and in the oven. This Dutch oven is terrific. I love that it is ceramic coated, so I donât have to go through the process of seasoning it. The rust color is very pleasant and a nice neutral color to go with my kitchen décor. This cooks meals evenly, whether making a roast or a stew. It is easy to clean by hand and I also really like that I donât have to worry about it rusting if I donât get it perfectly dry after washing it. As it is 6.5 quarts and made of ceramic coated cast iron, it is quite heavy, weighing in at just over 15 pounds, empty. For a small woman like me, I do need help lifting it in and out of the oven but can easily use it on the stove top without help. I love cooking in this. So far, I havenât burned anything while cooking in this Dutch oven. This is my new âgo toâ for cooking large batches of stews and soups. I hope this review helps and Happy Shopping!

One of the best Dutch ovens out there
Caraway is a staple in my household. I’ve come to love and appreciate how well-made their stuff is, and I’m highly appreciative of the opportunity to be able to use what they make.Dutch ovens are all basically created the same, but this does not make them equal. This one sets itself apart by being both perfectly functional and looking great while doing it. Its light gray interior contrasts nicely with its exterior, which is available in several colors. I opted for a ‘charcoal’ hue (because I’m super manly…). The potâs weight is manageable, making it easy to handle.It has a solid aluminum core that helps greatly with heat distribution, and the coating makes it an easy proposition to clean up. It works with all different kinds of stovetops, including induction, gas, and electric (I use gas), and can withstand oven temperatures up to 550°F (I make a lot of bread and usually use it at the 450 mark). I also really like that it’s free from PTFE, PFOA, and other PFAs – a major reason why personally think ceramic cookware is great.Performance-wise, it meets/exceeds my expectations. In addition to bread, I’ve used to it make pasta, soups, and stews. Everything seems to cook evenly without sticking. Cleanup is easy, and while I prefer hand-washing to maintain its condition, itâs great that it’s dishwasher-safe.If you’re looking for a higher-end, nicely designed, and highly functional Dutch oven, I don’t think you get much more bang for your buck than this.
