Even Better Than We Thought
I spent a good bit of time researching electric kettles before purchasing this one. After reading a lot of reviews here at Amazon, I decided I didn’t want a plastic kettle. I was also leery of the metal ones because they get so hot. I found one metal one I decided to purchase, and it was no longer available. When I searched on electric kettles again, this one had been added. Many of the reviews were positive, and we liked the idea of boiling in glass, so we decided to give it a try. It’s been in daily use for almost 20 months now, multiple times on some days, and we couldn’t be more pleased. It heats the water incredibly quickly. The auto shut off is a great safety feature, and I like the soft base which protects your counter when using the carafe away from the base. It’s easy to clean, and it looks nice. We’ve recommended it to several friends, and they are all happy with their purchases. One truth in advertising fact – the “polished chrome” is really plastic, but that doesn’t detract from the usability of this great kettle. Great value, durable item, well worth the money. If ours breaks, we will replace it with another just like it – we like it that much.

Best Water Kettle!
I love this water kettle- my first one started to be a little finicky after 5 years of regular use, so I bought an exact replacement. I really love the glass- its easy to see how much water there is, how clean it is, and no metal or plastic taste changes the water. The kettle heats up very quickly, which is the other reason I come back to this one. The design of having the heating element in the water rather than just the flat bottom really speeds it up (my parents had a Hamilton Beach kettle with a flat bottom, and they eventually replaced it with one of these).I only used filtered water in the pot (via a faucet mounted filter) and descale it as needed by heating up vinegar inside. Works like a charm and is super fast and easy. I usually will heat and empty another full pot of water before I’m ready to use it again. Vinegar-tea is not something I want to ever try.If you are rough with it or have extremely heavy use, well- you get out of it what you put into it. Its designed (and priced) to be replaced every few years, and that window can shorten if its not treated right or you just need to use it a lot more.Its unobtrusive on my very small countertop, tucking nicely into a corner, and looking very attractive.

My friend used to have one of these in her dorm, and I wanted one for myself after using hers. Hers boiled fast, quiet, and didnât break since college (2013!) So I made sure itâs the same model and bought it. Well, it did not work the same right off the bat. It would start boiling, then stop, with the light still on, then start again and finish in a few minutes. Honestly I was not happy but figured I’d keep it since it did boil eventually, just after a strange long interruption. Well, after about a week of using it, it just didnât turn on. I kept flicking the switch on but the light wouldnât come on and it wouldnât start heating up. I thought maybe itâs my outlet because itâs brand new so itâs unlikely itâll break so fast, so I tested it in a few more outlets in the house. Nope. The kettle had died completely. I do not recommend. I believe the one my friend has that still works after 10 years is probably manufactured with higher quality parts than this newer one despite it being the same model. I got a cheap replcement kettle from Target and it hasnât let me down, but doesnât look as chic. Shame on the company for making such cheap kettles now.

Reliable and efficient
We just ordered our 5th one of these… and that is a good thing. Yes, the past 4 all wore out and stopped working. But we’ve been buying them for nearly 15 years! They have been fantastic hot water pots in a family that refills them 4-6 times every day. They show the buildup from hard water (though easy to clean!). If you fill it too full, it will spill. But both of those are true for every other pot too. This one is well worth the purchase if you want something that looks nice.

AMAZING WONDERFUL ITEM!
After reading all these negative reviews I just have to say something:I purchased my capresso in December of 08, I did so because the item looked purely SO COOL!, I ended up buying a 2nd one a couple months later for my sister, but I actually never sent it because I loved it so much (I bought a third one and sent it to her, dont worry :), anyway, I’ve had 1 in my kitchen, and one in my living room next to my “tea stuff” (I’m crazy about tea). And to put it plain and simple there’s a reason y people experience this “smell & taste”. The one in my kitchen was always emptied and only used wen I need to boil quick water for something and I used tap water, and the one in my living room is actually kept full ready to boil at any time I want tea (which is several times a day) and I use only filtered purified water in this one. And basically the one in my kitchen had that weird “smell or taste” sometimes, but the one in my living room only delivers delicious fresh hot water… sooooo, I dont think i have to spell it out to anyone, but just in case I do: Dont use tap water and if ur not gonna keep it full of water all the time, then make sure u dry it VERY thoroughly between uses, the heating element will gather a coating of (i dont wanna call it rust) “something” and the seal will dry out, this contributes greatly to the “taste and smell”, and if ur gonna use tapwater on it, well then ur just asking for problems. Long story short, I no longer use tap water on the one in my kitchen and it is dried completely wen not in use and rinsed with purified water before use… and after about 10 uses the smell and taste were gone :)I hope this helps people and more people realize that this is a truly incredible item as long as u use it correctly… and common at the end of the day.. its just SO COOL!!!

Gorgeous to look at however, there is an odour (chemical) that will not disappear. I really don’t feel it is safe to drink the water boiled in this kettle.

Very bad quality,we used it ones and for some reason it did not function probably and did not boiled a water at all,I contact amazon for help they said I need to send it back to the company send it to us from japan which by Royal Mail it’s cost £75 postage,I would not recommend it to anyone at all just waste of money.
