High Tech Pan
This is the best Caphalon pot or pan I have ever owned! It is extremely well manufactured and the finish surface is extremely hard and seemingly impossible to scratch. It cleans easily and the lid works in two “modes”. One is for holding in the steam and the other position is to vent the steam. I really like this pan. It may seem pricey but it is well worth its cost. I highly recommend.

Quality is always top notch
Calphalon pots hold up well with every day use. This was a good price for this replacement piece.

Works well, mostly
Works great for any large pastas, but when draining small shells or spaghetti, the noodles slip out of the lid gap. Otherwise, a nice pot.

As advertised, not as heavy and smaller than pan it replaced, but still happy with purchase.
Replaced old 4 qt saucepan, not as big or heavy, but still a good pan. Hope it holds up as long as previous pan which was finally begin to flake.

Does Not Have a Lid Seal
I love the idea that they rolled a spout on both sides, since I always pour off with my right hand, and all the spouts I’ve seen pour off to the left, so doing both is great.I have mixed feelings with the diameter of this pot. It looks like it was deliberately designed to fit exactly over a glasstop electric’s smallest ring. But my previous Calphalon 3.5Qt is an inch or so wider, and I feel that it absorbs more heat from the element, as none escapes from the edge. A wider pot would also boil faster due to the surface area. The wider pot was also slightly easier to manipulate the contents. But then again, a wider pot might burn easier. But I can’t really tell, because the glaring problem with this pot is that the lid doesn’t seal off the spouts. It’s a gaping hole on both sides of the lid. This has increased my cooking times and energy usage. Also, as someone who does not want 30 different variations of the same thing, I only want one main pot for pasta as well as rice, and this lack of a seal alters the ratio. It’s also thinner and narrower than their previous design. I prefer their original density for the reduced temperature swings, especially on a glasstop that retains heat as opposed to gas.5 stars if you have room for “spare” pots, and this just another screwdriver in the pile. but as a daily driver, I do not like this as much as I expected.
