When used properly butter stays put.
I have always kept butter out on my counter because we would use it before it ever went bad. After seeing this and reading some of the negative reviews I believed those people were improperly using this and I was correct. The butter will NEVER fall out if placed in the holder properly. First your butter MUST be very soft, then you smear the butter (is the best description) inside the holder. The holder will support 1 stick of butter. If itâs soft enough to smear it will NEVER fall out. The butter will stay sticking to the walls if itâs packed in. I start with smearing it along the sides then fill the center. Once itâs packed in, itâs not going anywhere. You can see a photo of mine thatâs about half empty and itâs never going to fall out. The container has a water line that helps seal the butter from the air. If you fill it to the line and no more your butter will not get wet. Itâs designed to seal around the rim and will actually push the water up along the sides of the holder creating a perfect seal. I wish I had found this decades ago. It helps keep my counter looking clean. No smeared half sticks of butter laying about. No butter dishâs that always seemed to have butter all over it. Every other day or so I just replace the water, they say every 2-3 days. Just use cold tap water and you will always have nice soft butter for bread or whatever you want. I will order another one and use it for my clarified butter that I use to cook with and no longer have to keep it in my fridge where it hardens. Having nice soft clarified butter for cooking will be much nicer as it will stay solid but not hard. This particular keeper I really like because itâs heavy solid ceramic. I like the rubber rim on top thatâs removable and adjustable that keeps the top from coming in contact with the ceramic base. It helps it from chipping and helps in creating a seal as well for the top to rest on and it includes a nice little wooden butter knife or paddle.They do recommend using up all the butter in the holder before adding more. Butter in a bell such as this can stay safe at room temp for up to 30 days but still best to empty it and then add a fresh soften stick.

The crock was perfect, it kept my butter fresh and it works great as long you keep cool water in there. I recommend changing the water at least once a week add ice cube to water daily to get keep it cold.
