Sweet piece of equipment, worth the extra $$
This is one sweet piece of equipment. The Breville company designers must be people who actually use the devices they sell, because they are designed and built so well. This my 3rd food processor (the first was a KitchenAid, the second a Cuisineart). I received my new Breville yesterday, and so far, I have only done two things with it: I made a batch of hummus, and I made a batch of frozen banana-cherry “nice cream.” Both came out perfectly! Here are my observations:The Breville motor has more power than my earlier models, and effortlessly processes stuff, and is fast! The Breville electrical plugs are the BEST. They have a ring to hook your finger in to plug/unplug. It also retracts up into the base for storage. Now, most people would not think too much about power cord plugs, but this just gives you an idea of the attention to detail paid by Breville product designers. The plastic bowl and lid are made of much heavier plastic than my earlier models and seems very durable. It has easy to see/read volume markings on the side. It attached to the base smoothly and securely. As a plus, it was the easiest to clean of any other food processor bowl/top that I have used; no little crevices or notches to trap food particles. The S-blade, which I use the most, was very sharp. It wa also very easy to clean, and did not trap food inside the blade handle like my Cuisinart did (which was very difficult to clean). NOTE: Read your instruction manual!!! Unlike other food processors, the S-blade must be used with the spindle. There is also a nifty little storage tray to safely store the S-blade.The slicing blade looks well designed. Although I have not used it yet, and it is a feature I rarely use, I like the fact it can be adjusted to several thicknesses, including a closed position to make it safer to wash. I’m going to give it a go next batch of scalloped potatoes, and if it functions as well as I suspect, I will use it more often than I used the slicing blades on previous processors. The previous processors were such a pain in the patoot to clean that I didn’t pull them out just to slice a few veggies. There is a grater disc, which I might use in the future, but grating is not something I do in large volumes. This is my 4th Breville product, following a countertop airfryer/oven, a toaster, and a hand mixer. Each of those other products have also been well designed and performed flawlessly for several years. Breville products are more expensive, but I have found them to be worth the added cost because they work so incredibly well.If you use a food processor regularly, then look no further and buy this one. I think you will be very satisfied.

Amazing appliance
Very heavy and well built. Easy access with top that seals and comes off with ease. Multiple blades and adjustable slicer makes preparation a breeze. Highly recommend!!

Powerfull processor
I purchased this to replace a 15 year old Cuisinart which was a real work horse in my kitchen. It needed a replacement part which was permanently unavailable. So it was time to retire the machine. I thought I would definitely get a Cuisinart but after reading the reviews and talking to a friend who owns a Breville, I decided to do a hands on comparison in a local store. What a difference in the solid feel of the Breville parts. The bowl was much thicker and appeared to have a better seal with a rubber gasket. Of course it is a pricer product but if it is a better, quieter machine it was worth a try.Fantastic, superior shredding and slicing over the Cuisinart and no issues with blending wet ingredients (no leakage!) I am very happy with my choice of the Breville 12 cup.One word of warning… Tell all of your dishwashing helpers DO NOT PUT THE LARGE PUSHER IN THE DISHWASHER!!! It will distort the plastic and will you will require a new one which has to be ordered (Amazon doesn’t offer it)

Feels solid and sturdy, made to last
I honestly love this food processor. Itâs exactly what I hoped it would be! Itâs got a nice sturdy feel, user-friendly features and is easy to wash unlike my last one. Iâve owned a lot of different food processors, none of them great, and the Cuisinart I had drove me nuts, because the all the food debris would get trapped in the crevice around the lid! I really enjoy using this Breville and would recommend it to anyone!

Great machine, but…
I have been cooking for about 30 years, went to culinary school, etc. I have never owned a food processor before, though I have used many. In the past, they weren’t good enough to make it worth even using, much less purchasing. With my chef’s knife, everything always came out how I wanted it, and faster, when you consider cleanup (and you have to get the knife and cutting board out/dirty ANYWAY to use a food processor). That all said, it seemed like technology might be advanced to the point where I could use one, so I looked into them a bit. This one had great reviews, and at 1000W, was double the power of some of the cheaper ones. I’m glad I didn’t get one of those! I was able to stall this motor completely (It was just for a second, a few times. I didn’t push it, but it didn’t blow any breakers or shut off) by pushing ham into the grating disc too hard. The 1200W motor of the sous chef 16 might have been better for me, but it was 60-70% more expensive, and I’m sure I could stall out a 3000W motor the same way. 1000W is plenty, I just always want more.First of all, it’s super easy to clean, and it comes apart fast and easily. Don’t listen to these whiners who want to put everything in the dishwasher. The spatula included with it is shaped perfectly to fit into the angles and grooves of the bowl/pieces. If it were 1/8″ smaller, it would have fit perfectly into the smallest food chute to scrape it, but other than that, perfect. It’s maybe just a little delicate. I could see me breaking it if I’m not careful (and I’m often not) because of the brittle plastic, but it clicks together nicely and seems very well made. Not a lot of hard to get to areas where food gets stuck.I was disappointed at first at the chopping blade, and frustrated that I had to cut the stuff into 1″ cubes in order to even attempt to use it. I usually like to have a lot more control over the size/shape of the pieces. After giving it a few more tries, I think is a lot better than I gave it credit for, and much like a knife, there is a learning curve. You will never get that 1/8″ perfectly diced onion, but you can chop them into something pretty close in size. Again, here, the sous chef 16 has a very nice dicing attachment that looks like exactly what I wanted, and again, it would have cost much more, over double, with all the cool attachments, like french fry blade, julienne blade, dicing stuff. Really cool. I might still upgrade in a year or 2. The 12 only has the s blade and the (2 sided) grating bade (and dough hook). They don’t make any other blades for it. I subtracted 1 star for this. Epic fail.A couple other things I don’t love about it are:–no speed control, only off or on. It has a pulse button, but I’d love to also see a dial to turn the speed up or down, or even high/low, SOMETHING.–it’s a petty thing, but the small food chute should be 1/4″ longer, IMO. The bottom of it isn’t flush with the larger two that it is designed to fit inside of.–more pettiness, and this machine leaves very little compared to some, but the ends of whatever you’re grating, the last little bit, is too narrow and you end up with a few little pieces the size of guitar picks, or strips, that aren’t fully grated, sitting on top of the blade. Most people probably throw this out.–it makes sense, but you have to chop the stuff into 1 inch cubes to use the chopping blade. It’s still faster for doing a lot of stuff, but I don’t love it.Overall, the 12 is a great machine, in my opinion, and well worth the money. If you have more money though, and do a lot of cooking, the 16, on paper, seems to be a much better machine, if only for the extra attachments. I wish I paid the extra, but the 12 is so good that IDK if I can justify $600 to replace it now.

I have used food processors since the mid 1980s. I have gone through 5… maybe 6 of them? This is definitely a huge step up; lot of money for a kitchen tool, but wow.: what a performance. The bowl is larger than my previous one which is great – perfect for soups, batter, and sausage emulsions. And so easy to clean! The chopping blade is super-efficient: did garlic and jalapenos last night, and I ever never seen a machine chop so evenly. The slicing blade has an adjustable knob so you can vary thicknesses… AWESOMNESS! And it works great! I have not yet tried the grater. Oh and also: the machine is so much more quiet than any machine I have owned before! I would very highly recommend it. The base is heavy – such a powerful motor – but that is OK as I leave it permanently on my kitchen counter.

Freakin’ awesome. Sturdy, powerful, extremely efficient. Easy to use, clean and adjust. Quiet. Finished product is outstanding. Not a mangled mess, nor shredded as though torn by hand. Makes light work of dough preparations. This machine just WORKS. It is large which may make hidden kitchen storage difficult for some but I’m managing nicely. I’ve had the economy machine in the past and put up with the ineffectiveness, hence a lot of hand work for me. But, this unit is as advertised. If you have a genuine use for a food processor, this is your money well spent.

After our old one gave out I decided to spend a little more money and buy a better brand. It’s very easy to assemble and it isn’t rocket science to operate it. At first when I started it up I thought it was making an unusal noise, but after watching a few Youtube videos I realized it was normal. It isn’t really that loud. We love the adjustable slicing blade. Overall we’re happy with the product.

Easy to assemble. Easy to operate. Very quiet. The motor base is heavier than the others that we’ve which likely reflects quality. Overall the nicest food processor we’ve ever had. However, this unit must be handled with care. The plastic parts seem less durable than the cheap Hamilton Beach unit that we had previously. My daughter accidently dropped the lid while handling it, and it fell to the vinyl floor, and broke. Fortunately, replacement parts are available from the manufacturer.
