Beautiful Large-Capacity Clear Kettle
I got this Breville water kettle to replace one I loved, but it was time to move on to a new style and brand. Breville is that new brand for me.Funny story: I was in Home Goods and saw this for a really good price. I didn’t get it but wanted to, and I had a perfectly functional one with no space to store an extra. Then, I saw this on Prime Day for an even better price and I said “screw it, I’ll buy this and store it until the current one breaks.” No sooner did I think that that my current one stopped working. Our household tried to fix it and it was dead. But it wasn’t a bother because now I had this new Breville water kettle timed just right to replace it.The kettle holds up to seven cups of water. There are lines printed on the glass to help you measure, and a significant portion is empty for all the boiling bubbliness to happen. You flick it on and a white light lights up until it’s done. You then pour your water out as needed. When you refill, there is a nicely engineered top that slowly and satisfyingly opens up when you press the open button.Overall, it works fast and it looks beautiful. My only “complaint” is I wish different finishes were offered to match my other Breville items. Recommended.

Quality Product from Breville!
Great replacement for my Zojriushi water boiler and warmer. I originally used a water boiler because I didn’t have to heat up a kettle and wait. I simply left the water in the boiler and pressed a button and I had warm or hot water anytime I needed. However, after long term use, the Zojirushi became more cumbersome to clean. Since I had hard water, this made it even more difficult because of the constant mineral build up. I was concerned about the flaky mineral build up that came with the dispensed water. This is when I came across Breville’s clear electric kettle. The glass is the most impressive part of this kettle. It made it easy to clean. The only part that is difficult to clean is the bottle of the kettle near the edges and a long pipe near the handle. The opening is large enough that I can reach my entire hand inside and scrub off any residual mineral deposit. And the side of the glass is really easy to clean. I would simply take a soft scrub and rub off the mineral deposits on the stainless steel at the bottle of the kettle. This Breville product is very impressive, along with the design and ease of use. I was also concerned with a possible metallic after taste with metal water kettles, so this was a great option. So far, the unit works perfectly. I can heat up only the water that I need, whether it’s 2 cups or an entire liter. Here is a rundown of the good and the bad:Good:- Easy to clean- Mostly glass and stainless steel. The only parts that are plastic is the lid, if people are concerned with BPA from plastics.- Easy to use, one push of the button to boil water.- No unnecessary sounds, the water will simply stop boiling when done.- Water remains hot for a long period of time after boiling.- Easy to take in and out of the main unit.Bad:- Costs more than comparable glass water kettles but well worth the price.- The cord is a bit short, so you can have it too far from a plug.Overall, I would recommend this product. Good job Breville!

Works great for years
Iâve been getting this product because of the beautiful glass look and that it works well and serves its purpose daily. Iâve had to buy a new one every 3-5 years because eventually the lid function stops working. With my last one, the plastic rim that holds the lid came off the top of the glass. I do use this water boiler every day though so I assume overtime the heat will cause something to come loose.

For whom the bell tolls?
Honestly its a kettle there are really only two things it needs to do.1) It needs to get hot enough to boil water. Does it do this? Yes.2) It needs to let the user know that its boiled. Does it do this? No.As a previous owner of the Ikon kettle this is a serious downgrade. The fact that the kettle steam essentially mars the view makes the see through feature fairly meaningless. The opening of this kettle is more narrow than the previous model, this isn’t a deal breaker but its somewhat less forgiving when you are filling it up from a pitcher as I tend to do.The additional wattage is welcome but not very noticeable, its not faster by a huge amount, it is faster but not minutes to seconds sort of improvement. The kettle itself feels less sturdy than the steel version, and its wider at the base by a large margin. What makes this kettle unusable and utterly useless is its inability to indicate that its boiled unless you are in the same room.No bell, no tone, no whistle, nothing. The switch switches off and that’s it. Normally I wouldn’t write a review but I specifically took it upon myself and wrote to Breville’s customer service and asked this exact question. I was told it had a bell – which suggests that either my kettle is defective or that they don’t even know their own product. I believe its the latter.I find the ring to be important, I am not hovering over the kettle waiting for it, if you do then this kettle will very likely meet your needs. If you want a reminder that the kettle has boiled while you read the paper or talk to your partner in another room this just won’t do, and I urge you to consider avoiding any company where the customer service reps are incompetent, lying or unable to say they don’t know the answer but would find out factually.

I have owned this kettle for about 2 weeks and have no problems. I use it once a day. I find the water takes minimal time to boil. I have never timed it but it is quick. It does everything it claims to do in the product description. I have no issues with the opening of the lid, button works well. People commented on the on off switch….I have no issues to report.Immediately after taking the kettle out of the box, it was clear that this kettle looked great. It is “crystal clear” as stated. it looks great. I had a similar style kettle from a store and this kettle looks much better than anything I found from a department store. It boils water faster than my old kettle and even is cleaner without as much build up of calcium. I wash my kettle about once a week and there is little to no calcium build up as compared to the old kettle.I guess its true what they say about you get what you pay for. This kettle was about 3 or 4 times more expensive then department store brand ones but its well worth it. There is a noticeable difference. I would recommend this kettle to others. It states that its BPA free from parts that touch the water which is great news. For the price though I wish the company went the extra mile and made it 100% BPA free.I don’t think you can go wrong if you bought this kettle

PROS-boils water very quickly-easy to see when it’s starting to boil-rotates freely on the base-large (1.7L) – bigger than an average 1.5L kettle-auto turn off-soft-opening lidCONS-glass is hot to touch (obviously)-lid breaks easily-won’t turn off automatically if the lid is left open while boilingBought this kettle 2 years ago, using it every day. it still works great with one exception – the lid with soft opening now slams open. the lid design seemed ok, but apparently it isn’t. Another problem with the lid – if it’s open while the kettle is boiling, it won’t turn off automatically. The full kettle (1.7-1.8L) boils in about 1.5 – 2 minutes. It’s also easy to see when the water is starting to boil and turn it off to avoid wasting electricity.Overall, I’d recommend this kettle.

When new, it looks and works quite nicely – fast boiling, clear glass, detachable base (not a shame to put it on the breakfast table). But in a few months it developed a very strange scale/sediment on the 90% of the bottom (brown-grey colour, rough on the touch). Too bad that my son, who received the kettle from me as a gift, mentioned about this problem only when the warranty was already gone. But even then, I thought that we can figure it out and clean that thing to the original shinyness. Little did we know that nothing will work. I mean, not a regular backing soda or vinegar, or some fancy comercial products – the sediment on the metal was still there.Note: we used only filtrated water (Brita). The bottom element is covered with some cheap alloy, not stainless steel. Didn’t expect this kind of quality from Breville. Highly disappointed.
